No, slight increases are quite common on Thursday. SM 3 ticked up slightly last Thursday as well.

True. Actually Spidey 3 has a BO increase everyday during the weekday. It's definitely a good sign.

Off topic but Fantastic Four 2 was better than expected. Hope it gets 200M I'm sticking with my original projections. 200M - 215M. Of course those my change based on the opening weekend numbers.

I wished FF2 was longer than I expected. lol

Once again, news from the French box-office.

Newspaper Le Parisien listed the top 10 films of 2007 so far :

#1 Spider-Man 3 with 6.136.697 tickets sold
(...)
#4 POTC 3 with 4.396.629 tickets sold
(...)
#9 Ghost Rider With 1.066.554 tickets sold

Another article does report POTC3 is still sinking big time in its 3rd week of exploitation and it CAN'T make more money than Spider-Man 3. :)

The other great news is SM3 is still having a 500+ screens potential and there's an event called La Fête du Cinéma from June 27th to 29th (basically over these 3 days, you pay one ticket full price and after you only pay 2€ for your next ticket) and that should give another boost to Spider-Man 3 Foreign numbers. :)

That film has 8 legs for sure ! ;)

700k for Spidey on Friday. That's an early estimate, I'm sure that number is a little higher. But nevertheless, still on pace for a $2.3 or so million dollar weekend.

Fantastic Four got $22.75 million.

Well, POTC3 is tracking below both SM3 and Shrek3 at the domestic BO, it´s without a doubt the biggest BO disappointment of 2007. FF2 is opening alright, but I´m expecting it to be VERY frontloaded.

I would of thought Grindhouse would be an undeniable success, but look how that turned out...

I guess movie audiences today are too young to remember those old exploitation movies from the seventies.

I think it will be front loaded like 90 percent of all comic movies are but I don't think it will be to front loaded. It was actually a decent movie could of used another 20 mins.

With the not so big opening weekend numbers. I'm not expecting it to be front loaded at all.

Shrek the Third is now $ 21.9 million behind where Spider-Man 3 was on its corresponding day.

It's definitely gaining some legs, but in truth it will likely be too little too late. It is looking to finish somewhere in the mid $320 millions. Spidey will have long been about $337-341 million by then.

Spidey still looks to be doing well. Hopefully Shrek does not catch up, which is still possible but not likely.

Yeah, it´s in the sixth weekend already, the numbers will get lower from now on, and even with better weekly numbers it´ll get harder to reduce the difference.

A movie I think could be a surprise this summer is Ratatouille. The traillers look pretty funny and, according to early reviews, it´s a return to form for Pixar after the somewhat disappointing Cars.

Cars was one of Pixars most popular films

I meant that it was a bit disappointing in terms of quality. It wasn´t bad, but didn´t reach Pixar´s high standards.

Not actually sure what you mean. It was good. It was very popular. What more could you ask for? Hell I don't even usually ask for popular just good so it's got that as a bonus for me.

$2.5 million is a nice modest take for the weekend. It's nice to see that FF2 didn't cut into Spidey's numbers (not that there is much to cut into considering it is in the latter half of its run).

I was looking at trends among the Spider-Man movies for box office, after their 45th days at the box office (Sunday being Spidey 3's 45th day), they went on to gross these additional amounts:

Spider-Man: $21.5 million
Spider-Man 2: $15 million
Spider-Man 3: ?

Spidey 3 is looking, based on the numbers, to gross a remaining $10 million. I am confident in saying it WILL cross $340 million, albiet it will crawl there.

If it does make it to 340 it will get there like SR got to 200. Barely crawl passed it with some help from the studio.
