It would have been MUCH more had this not been such a crazy summer... so MANY movies... so little time!

I don't quite agree with this. Spidey 3 had no competition for its first two weeks, and in its second weekend box office total it dropped 61.5%, no Pirates/Shrek etc...did that to it. It was going to make about this much regardless. However if there wasn't any competition then I could have seen it crossing $350 million.

I will say grosses for SM4 will probably be down from SM3...especially if Raimi and co leave.

I don't think Sam and co will leave. They are having a meteting in the coming weeks so I defenitley think they will return. Not to mention that Spidey3 grossed so much that Sony will defenitley want Sam, co, and the rest of the cast and crew to return.

I agree they will come back, but I do think SM4's grosses will be down a tad (just the nature of sequels...eventually they go down).

I just checked Box Office Mojo, and Harry Potter is mostly being released on Wednesday/Friday overseas. I was just wondering how Transformers was going to do against Harry Potter overseas. Not to mention in the U.S. Wed. through Sun.

Spidey 4 will gross more domestically than 3 on the basis that, while the opening weekend won't be $151 million like 3, it will have stronger legs. Assuming the film is really good, word of mouth will keep it strong.

Especally if it's released in a year with no major blockbusters. (I'm betting 2010 the same year as Shrek 4)
