me, I thought the books were f***in boring, but I can see how it'd piss people off.
I tried reading The Hobbit when I was very, very young because there were no more books in our school library that were challenging enough. I got bored and brought it back. I feel bad, because it was her home copy as well. Oh well.

The writer is there to pen the script and listen to what the producers and directors want. Don't blame the changes on Kloves.

And yes, I know but you're missing the difference. Comic book storylines are constantly changing so one should expect no different with a comic book movie.

storylines are changing, evolving, but they don't mess with the basics, and when they do, it's generally rejected (eg: The Other, Sins Past). Raimi messed exactly with the basics that are NOT "constantly changing". that is stuff that is pretty much set in stone, so it's not really different than a book.

Then why did Avi Arad let him do it?

this is where i call "double standard"...

...Gwen Stacey's story has not changed. MJ being a supermodel type instead of a girl next door type has not changed. yet those were changed in the movies and not necessarily because they were changes made for the better. comic book stories aren't constantly changing, they're just constantly GROWING. the past stories are still the same...

that being said....you said yourself that adapting a comic book is different from adapting a novel so why are you using Cuaron's novel to movie changes when talking about how he would possibly make a comic book movie?

Then why did Avi Arad let him do it?

hell if I know. maybe 'cause a) despite the changes, Raimi made MOST OF IT work, b) he doesn't care about it as much as he lets on or c) he's a f***in moron. but again, who knows.

I think they made those changes (not that I agree with them) because people are more familiar with Mary Jane than Gwen Stacy. Non-comic book fans, that is. I think it's dumb, but they still made it work and I never heard people complaining when the first movie came out.

Because it was brought up.

Avi Arad doesn't care? He seems to be just in it for the money. I've never liked him. He seems like he'd sell you out in a second just to make a quick buck.

the same reason he let every other director who made a Marvel film make changes to the movies that they made...

...because Avi Arad just wants to get Marvel moves made. you think he'd let Bryan Singer, Guillermo Del Toro, or Ang Lee direct Marvel movies if he was concerned about changes being made from the comics to the movies?

you must not've been around these boards when the first movie came out then. if you honestly think fans didn't complaining about MJ's character in the first film when fans were raising hell over the organic webshooters then you're severely mislead.

I wasn't, lol. I can understand the Mary Jane thing, although I think they made it great how they did it, but the webshooters? I like how they have the webshootersin the movie better than in the comics. Sure, it's not as true to the comics but I think it's so much better.

the webshooters were (at the time surprisingly) talked about more than the changes made to MJ. i consider it one of the lowest points in fanboy history...

...it was probably more debated than GG's costume.

Wow, people really get uptight about such small things. They all must hate Ultimate Spiderman.

If the cast and crew did not return this would set in motion the new trilogy:

Director: Sam Raimi (he has to comeback or there is no vision)
PP/SM: Jake Gyllenhaal
MJ: Jessica Biel
Felicia Hardy: Scarlett Johanssen
Curt Connor/Lizard: same guy
Plus everyone that has been in place previously (ie Betty, JJ, etc)

Villian:
Morlun leader of Sinister 6: Michael Wincott (The Crow)
Blackcat: Of course Scarlett Jo
Scorpion:
Shocker:
Chameleon:
Rhino:
Vulture:

You fill in the blanks:trans:

As far as Peter Parker and Spiderman goes, I'd choose James McAvoy.

probably because fanboys were pretty much unanimous in thinking it looked like s#!t.

HELL. NO.

I thought it was cool. But then again, I'd never call myself a fanboy, just because the amount of annoying fanboys bring disgrace to the term.

never thought of him, (gained I’ve only seen him as the goat guy in narnia) but, not too bad (though, doesn’t he have a pretty heavy accent? I don't know how good his american accent is, or if he can do one)

also, he seem to do more, foreign, artsy kinda stuff

Jake Gyllenhaal is just too old to begin the next trilogy as Spidey.

I've thought about Justin Chatwin (played Tom Cruise's son in "War of the Worlds") as Peter Parker, but that would make him a little too young. Same goes for Joseph Gordon Levitt.

Jake Gyllenhaal is 5 years younger than Tobey. I don't think he's too old at all.

He's a pretty good actor, although I've only scene him in two films and some scenes here and there. Yes he has a thick Scottish accent but he can pull off an american accent. He'd be my 1st choice if Tobey were to leave.

Plus - he looks alittle similar to Tobey

problem with Gyllenhaal is the same as Tobey. he's too dull and morose. even if they did write Spidey's wisecracks into the movie, he'd never pull it off.
