Thorin still sux!!11! He really does.

Not but seriously, the banner is amazing. Love the part with Gandalf and Beorn. And I'm glad to see the wolves will actually look like wolves.

I don't know if I'm the only one to think this but I wish Thorin was made to look a bit more dwarvish in comparison to all the other dwarves. He just looks like slightly heavy shorter human.

So this movie covers the book up to the part where they float down the river on barrels? There won't be much plot left for the sequel.

Nope, you're definitely not the only one. I have read nothing but complaints about the way he looks... and rightfully so.

Thorin I don't mind, but the young beardless dwarf is nonsensical.

I don't know if I would like thorin looking more dwarvish. I mean yes he looks more like aragorn's short stocky brother but I think PJ was trying to do just that I think they're trying to bring a certain classic heroic look to thorin. They may be thinking that by making him to dwarvish they could alienate the GA a bit so they gave him more of the archetype hero aesthetic if you will. Now I agree on the two boyband looking kili and fili specially the dark haired one he's just too pretty boyish. Its obvious they wanted some heartthrobs dwarves in there but they just went overboard with those two.

Aidan Turner grew a pretty rad beard so its funny that he shaved it.

The wolves look creepy here. Moreso than the wargs did. :)

No Orcs with the Wargs, I notice. I really hope they are redesigned to look different to the Moria Goblins. I would love to see some more feral Orcs, wearing animal skins and bronze armour.

Lauren, my girlfriend, has been baffled by reports that Cumberbatch will actually be mocapping Smaug and not just voicing him, so she drew this last night.

the second movie will finish up the Hobbit and then bridge the gap between the Hobbit and LOTR.

Well if you read the Unfinished tales...and the Appendixes at the back of ROTK...those who have read it will know what I am talking about. I always think that what happens in between and after the War of the Ring are interesting to read cause of the history you get to know about certain characters, especially Sauron and the White Council...and then you have the story of Arwen Undomiel and Aragorn, which by the way was so beautifully adapted to the movies.

There must be a lot of story in between TH and LOTR, then.

Well a lot of gandalf's and the white council's story happened off page in the hobbit and they are showing it in the films so there will be plenty of material to cover.

Plot for the sequel: Big. Effin'. Battle.

That was just the old plan if I'm not mistaken... They're not doing it anymore.

Dwarf women have beards. Thorin, a manly man Lord of Dwarfs, should have a flowing, kingly beard. It's that simple.
And I too think that Fili and Kili look horrible, but I don't really care because they're minor characters.

Just like with humans, some will be different. In a culture and species the way the individual of a group looks physically and dresses can vary wildly at times. Perdonally, I like that they express their personality through their style and looks, like intelligent beings are known to do.
