It's better than the teaser. Damn sure about that.

Still meh.

I liked the trailer, dont see what peoples problem is with it, the story looks lighter than LOTR, and so it should be, as this is how its portrayed in the books.

There is no lingering threat this time or a mission to destroy something that threatens everyone, its just all about the adventure, and the trailer portrayed that for me, looking forward to December even more now.

i love fantasy my fav genre i love me a good adventure/journey film

rare these days

I think the Dwarvish song alone puts the teaser above the trailer for me. This one seemed rather jumbled in how it's put together; especially at the beginning, the way they drop you into it felt like you're already halfway into the trailer.

That's a good way of putting it.

Thorin's song really did elevate the first trailer. The tone of it all was far more coherent too.

It looks like a nice movie. But the way it was edited seems odd. Just random dialogue in it for the sake of being in it

Gotta agree with most on here, not too impressed by the trailer. Still excited, but that def wasnt a trailer to get me extra hyped. Awesome to see Gollum again though.

It's up now on youtube as well - http://wp.me/p2CCWq-24W

That trailer was fantastic. Epic! Don't see why some others here aren't liking it.

I agree. Loved the trailer. Loved a good adventure and will be nice to see this world on the big screen once again

This might be an extreme nitpick, but I don't like how Bilbo seemed at ease enough with Gollum to be in breathing distance of him, lay out the details of how they are gonna proceed with their riddles, and then move back some distance. In the book, Bilbo was deeply disturbed and scared of Gollum and kept a healthy distance. Of course we see glimpses of the scene without full context of the cinematic space they interact in, so I'll refrain from saying much further, as I could be wrong. But I sincerely hope it does not play out that way.

Most likely this is the case. They do it all the time in trailers.

Well Bilbo actually does gets more confident as he settles in and starts the riddles with him but you're right that their initial confrontation should be one where Bilbo is pretty terrified and uncomfortable.

I liked it. It all looks very pretty and the tone is spot on. It feels like what I'd expect Hobbit movie to feel like so I appreciate the relaxed and charming tone of the trailer. It made me smile so I can't ask for much more. I remain cautiously optomistic.

Well he does look pretty terrified here:

Bearing in mind that this is the supposed "Tolkien expert" on the production:

- At Comic Con, she claimed that Galadriel is the strongest being in Middle-earth (wrong).
- She recently said that The Hobbit is just as much Thorin's story as it is Bilbo's (wrong).
- She claims that a red-headed Tauriel is "in the spirit of Tolkien, despite the fact that red-hair has only been attributed to one family (of which Tauriel could not have been a part).
- “You get to see more of him [Gollum], and that’s never a bad thing.” It is when the character serves no purpose in the narrative outside of the Riddles in the Dark sequence.

I don't know. Between some of her comments on The Hobbit, and some of her past comments on LoTR, I really get the impression that she assumes she knows better than Tolkien when it comes to adapting these stories into a different medium, when ninety-nine times out of hundred that hardly ends up being the case.

Seriously does the redhaired thing really matter and is it really indicative of anything? Shouldn't you guys be far more concerned that they completely made up a character and have supposedly added in a romantic subplot? How is it the color of her hair that draws your ire?

Additionally, I enjoy Tolkien's writing, but if he ever made a film it would be the driest freaking thing to watch.

Im really trying to get into this but Im just not feeling it which is odd.

I am going to try combining both trailers & see if I can get one big story out of it

gonna get a lot of milage out of this one :awesome:

It looks silly as does Radagast really but there should be a degree of silliness and whimsy to this film so scenes like this do actually kind of make sense.

I can't wait to see a gif of the, "Well, that could've been worse." part. That was hilarious.
