Azog!

Hmm... he doesn't look too bad, but the pic is a bit grainy so hard to tell.

Creativity wise that was 100% Blomkamp. After the Halo project fell through Jackson very much helped him financially but in terms of all the creative aspects of the film they all came from Blomkamp and his filming/vfx crew.

Blomkamp was the creative force pushing that film and it was easy to tell as it was so distinctively different from Jackson and any director in the past 20 something years.

Thank you very much. How anyone could watch District 9 and think Peter Jackson, I just don't know.

Darth I think you forgot to quote it again. :cwink:

It will be 3 hours and not nearly as fun. :cwink:

I love Tin-Tin. So much fun. Real labor of love from everyone involved. Like a really good young Indy story.
Tin Tin biggest fan was peter jackson. he even dressed up as the captain. I think it will be kinda the same just maybe darker part of the story.

I just saw it...but I'm just getting to it now since I went to check out The Hobbit premiere in NYC tonight. :yay:

...and no, I didn't see the movie, I was just there to check out the red carpet action. I saw Peter Jackson, Elijah Wood, Ian McKellen, Andy Serkis, and a bunch of dwarves whose real names I'm not sure off. I'm also pretty sure I saw Evangeline Lily. I also saw Patrick Stewart and Terry O'Quinn from Lost.

Plus, I got an official Gandalf wizard hat that they were giving everyone in the crowd before the arrivals. Which earned us a big smile and a wave from Gandalf himself.

But yeah, I wouldn't mind having a LOTR/Hobbit section. Let's see what the boss says.
LUCKY wish I could have gone!!! I got an invite from One Ring the other day but there was no way I could afford to fly out there and back. lol
I'm STILL crossing my fingers I get to guard a Prescreening here.

If memory serves me both Azog and Bolg are played By actors I think. Manu Bennett and Conan Stevens

Jackson loves Kong and look what happened there. Being a fan doesn't equal good results.

I think it will be different as Spielberg wouldn't be directing.

People said the exact same thing when color first appeared. Hitchcock even chose to film psycho in black and white because he thought he couldn't get away with the violence in color.

This idea that things are "becoming too real" in film is all about perspective. What is too real? Someone from the 1960's watching any film now might say the same.

It's not about what is "too real" but how the filmakers adapt to the new technology. There is nothing about motion blur that inherently makes it a superior film. It's just the idea that over the last 80 years we have been accustomed to believe that is the only way to see film.

Any and all these arguments and fears about the changing technology has been had numerous times over the years whenever any tech has changed. In the end the "magic" is all created by the filmmaker not the film stock used.

That doesn't address jmc's other point, that 48 fps will make wounds and killing appear fake. That actually seems to be the single biggest criticism of the new tech; it takes you out of the movie because it makes it so obvious that it is a movie.

20% of RT Top Critics. I know it's only 5 votes, but this is not a good start.

I'm puzzled that the critics' embargo was removed so early, given how middling the response to TH has been.

Critic proof? Ego? They truly believe they made a great film?

That is honestly the first thing that came to my mind when I saw it.
:D I hadn't even thought about Scrooge and the gold til you mentioned it lol HALF tempted to take Howard the duck's face/Head and Attach it to Bilbo hahaha

Found This By accident but is this azog or a random Goblin.

He is clearly to short to be Azog. Azog is huge and this guy isn't even as a tall as a dwarf standing next to him.

I really wish people would stop dwelling on what Critics say. Sure they effects the oscar race but critics hate anything new or fun.
Talk about generalization. Please stop complaining about critics because you don't like what they said. You want to make up your own mind, do so. But your attempts to influence other makes you no different then the critics you are complaining about.

No they don't. Just because they don't like the movie doesn't mean their wrong.
