James Preston Rogers for Thor. I'm supporting this guy big time. Alexander Skaarsgard is a great choice too I must add.

Getting sick of Brad Pitt being considered. I bloody hope he doesn't get it.

^ I like his look, he's got the size (6'5" according to IMDB,) just don't know if he can act.

Well since he's left an impression on the likes of Ron Perlman and Tom Selleck, he just might have the potential. Just give him a Screen Test and let's see where he goes from there...

I think that he was mentioned way back in this thread, and I said that I liked him... and yes, the acting is a question mark...

Did anyonr see the Lost Boys:the Lost Tribe? Dude should play Thor! I won't say which one cuase if you see the movie you know EXACTLY who I'm talking about.

Butler should be Thor; that was all I could think about the first hour of the 300. The man's made for the part!

Brad Pitt- Cost too much....marvel will NEVER pay him what he would want to star in thor.....PLUS he would shoot the budget up for the avengers tremendously.

Gerard Butler- Will do another prequel to 300 in the next 6-9mths so that writes him out of the equation. He's gonna go for the BIG CHECK...which he deserves...

I say go with Kevin Mckidd from rome/trainspotting/journeyman/grey's anatomy (this season)....he's proven he has better acting chops than most of the unknowns mentioned. He can play the Dr. Blake character well, of course he can buff up for the thor part. I think he's 5'10, but with boots/lifts he easily can look 6'3 on camera...

Come to think of it...ROME was pre-asgardian training...lol...

Skaarsgard (sp?) is a good idea.

I always appreciate suggestions that arnt wrestlers.

Skarsgard has the youth to play a God type hero... he can get into the right shape... stick his father in there for Odiin... get him on the Zack Snyder/300 workout routine and we are set. These other wrestler types just flat out stink... it would come across as complete cheese to the GA... and all the other actors with the right size that have been mentioned are too old for this sort of Conan stuff.

Guys, while I understand that physicality is a big part of this character, it's not enough that physically the person can mimic Thor alone.

I just want to point and look at who has been cast as these big time characters before hand. They are more often than not strong performers and actors known for their strong, acting roles. And that usually turns out the best results.

Just saying, if an actor is picked to play Thor and he's not THAT big, he can get bigger.

I like this Skarsgard feller.

Skaarsgard is starting to pull ahead in the polls...

get him on the Zack Snyder/300 workout routine

That would be a great infomercial... Order now, and get your very own workout loin cloth and matching Caligae sandles

I liked Sean Bean but he is getting too old. Brad Pitt from Troy has the look but he would cost so much it wouldn't seem possible to get him to do it. The casting will be tough for Marvel to find a suitable, talented actor to play Thor.

You guys REALLY need to stop throwing out names of guys who have NOT proven they can act and have NOT carried a BIG BUDGET movie or ANY movie that has made a profit yet....hell most of the NEW names on here DONT have anything major coming out over the next 5-7mths. Marvel will make a decision by March of next year at the latest...hopefully...lol.

Scary how many of you seem to think the 300 Workout is a cure-all for anyone's physique when they're gearing up to star in a superhero film. It's not.

Its better than casting a bodybuilder/wrestler with no acting talent

But nowhere near as good as getting someone to train a real actor in similar fashion to what Hugh Jackman has done for the new Wolvie film which is a much more effective and sounder approach to training. ;)

Well, I dont think anyone really knows what they mean when they say Zack Snyder workout routine. They are only looking at the results. They are more than likely just saying find a good actor, buff him up, and shoot the movie.

I absolutely agree with you on the bolded part. I'm 50/50 on the rest of it as I think some people THINK they know what they are saying when it comes to the 300 Workout but in reality have no clue. The end state of getting a good actor in shape for a role is the goal, though, I agree.

I agree with you completely about the guys who can't carry a big budget movie. I hope Marvel finds someone that has more acting history over the look. I still want him to look like Thor but I would rather someone be a good actor first.
