Don't understand why on Earth people think Cillian Murphy would make a good Loki. He's too pretty, too feminin-looking, too young and too small.
And yet he's also got that deep, bassy voice that freaks me out every time I hear it come out of that cute, irish cheekboney face...

Loki's gotta be creepy.

but you know what? I'd kinda like Thor to be a little creepy too.

I like Branagh as a contender for the Red Skull...

Joachim Phoenix, Vincent Cassel, and Christopher Eccleston are my top contenders for Loki...

I totally agree with the sentiments of your post. No wrestlers to play Thor.

However, you've gotta appreciate the irony in the fact that you spelt 'imbecile' wrong.

:cwink:

:woot: Dammit, I meant to put a 'b.'

if u TRULY are a thor fan, no sean bean, no vladimir k (whatever his name is), no karl urban (cant see him as blake and thor) and no wrestlers.

ONE actor will have to pull off both characters (hopefully NONE of the above actors)...trust me... ;)

If Kenneth Branagh is directing, I'd say that Blessed is guaranteed to play Odin.

I dont think Odin could possibly be anyone else. Hell yeah Blessed should be Odin!

The thing is Thor needs to be physically impressive as a Human. He needs to look like the Nordic God he is supposed to be. I do not see many actors of a size that Thor needs to be. Of course, this person must also be able to act but if he cannot protray Thor just through his presence then there is no way he can maybe think that the actor is Thor.

'THE' most important is is that he can act. michael keaton nailed batman for pete sake.

I agree; and moreover, the chances of him playing Loki are extremly small. I don't care if I sound pretentious when I say this, but when I think of a potential cast for a future movie, I try to choose my actors based on not just on personal fan bias or physical looks, but also on acting ability, compatibility given previous roles, and ages, but I also try to think of who would realistically would sign for these roles and whether the producers would let them.

I agree that Cillian could act the role out really well, but he's clearly emphasized that he's not playing anymore villains, and I think the fact that he's already played a comic book villain in Scarecrow is going to make producers LESS likely to choose him.

I do agree that Mad Mikklesen could be a good Loki.

I haven't heard of some of these actors, but the ones I do know, I can see every one of them working.

Thor - Alexander Skarsgard

OMG. Please tell me you are joking. He'd be a stretch for Spiderman. He is skinny skinny.

You need a real manly man to be Thor. My gosh.

Nikolaj looks more manly than Alexander. Nikolaj should be Thor.

OK - Just saw Made of Honor (in my defence my wife made me do it!!)- now totally sold on Kevin McKidd for THOR. He has a great look/ feel both physically, he has the size necessary and has a really regal / noble vibe.

I didn't know he was in it - I could not stop thinking that Marvel has to get this guy!

I can also see him pulling off don blake perfectly too.

Officially on the McKidd band wagon!!

Nice ensemble cast - not to sure about Marsden as Balder though.

'Skinny Skinny'?

You never heard of a gym, Pluto? :whatever:

Most actors chosen for these roles have to hammer the gym intensely before shooting starts. You dont just think that people are just born with bodies like super-heroes, do you? Need I remind you of how infamously skinny Christopher Reeve was in his Superman audition?

As various photos of Skarsgard have shown, he can put the weight on no problem. I dare say one of the 1st things that Alexander Skarsgard would do if he ever heard he was in with a shot of the role would be to pump some serious iron.

How about you suggest someone better suited and then we can talk (and please, please, dont suggest 'Ben Ryan' :woot:)

I mean look at it; Facially, Skarsgard looks like Thor.

And at 6'3", height-wise, he's closer to Thor than alot of the actors mentioned on here.

Not to mention the fact that he's actually of Nordic persuasion.

Loki is taller by 1 inch, but Bettany is slightly thinner build than buffer Nikolaj.

Officially, Thor is 6'6" and Loki slightly shorter at 6'4".

I always saw Thor as being more of a 'brute force' kinda guy given his natural physical attributes whereas Loki is the mischievious schemer who prefers to work behind the scenes; relying on his magic and skills of manipulation.

Personally, I'd prefer it there was a greater size/height difference between the two actors chosen to highlight this.

Loki is the son of a Giant, and he has always been a tall but skinny mastermind.

I don't see a big difference between 6'4" and 6'6" when inches can be fixed by a pair of boots and through the non-comics audiences eyes it doesn't matter much. Between Loki and Thor the body composition matters more than height, as in drawing they're height is not much of a difference but their weights/muscles do. And no, Loki can't be short. He has the Frost Giant Blood. For major height difference, there's Superman and Lex but Thor and Loki are about the same height.
