Blond hair if you have dark hair = Dye it.
Fair skin if you are a little suntanned (must be Caucasian though) = Cream the skin white.

The following issues are more important to look at for Thor actor:
1. Acting ability
2. Charisma
3. Height & musculature

I feel the same way, chiefchirpa.

thor - karl urban
odin - brian blessed
loki - cillian murphy
hela - emma thompson
If Kenneth Branagh is directing, I'd say that Blessed is guaranteed to play Odin.

The thing is that it wouldn't look natural, as we could see in Oliver Stone's Alexander, where Colin Farrell's blonde dye looked ridiculous.

And Gerald Butler being 6'2, I didn't know that, I just saw him on Late Night With Conan O'Brien, and he looked really short - well obviously...

But Alexander Skarsgard's name ahs been thrown around here now, and he could work as Thor. I use to support KARL Urban for Thor, but the guy can't act...

6'2" is not short, if Gerard's being honest about his height.

I'm not sold with Skarsgard, he doesn't look like a tough stout warrior. I rather pick Nikolaj Waldau even if he's 2 inches shorter. Nikolaj looks like a Danish Sean Bean. Alex Skarsgard looks like a girl.

I still Charlie Hunnam is a decent option even though his 6'1 atleat he can act. Too bad their is no real life beowulf type actors around

I suggested Blessed for Odin a few years back - I would dearly love to see him in the role.

Obviously, Looks-wise he's perfect but imagine that booming voice echoeing in the halls of Asgard.

Awesome.

Brian Blessed lungs are twice the normal size which is why his such a kick ass mountaineer although he his failed to reach the summit of everest but then again he did do it at the age of 56.

I fugging love Brian Blessed.

He's always so enthusiastic about things; an enthusiasm which always appears to be contagious to those around him. He was brilliant when he hosted 'Have I Got News For You'.

Just think of it - Branagh directing Blessed.

Yea, verilly; 'twud be awesome.

Blessed might not have the visual presence that Odin requires, but he could certainly voice him.

Vladmir Kulich has visual presence.

My brother pointed this out to me too, and that is probably true. Good choice IMO

I would say that the issue with the dye job in Alexander was that they left the eye-brows dark... it stuck out like a sore thumb. They should have done some maintenance on Collin's brows (dye and trim)...

And as for the height of Butler, and I think that you were eluding to this... most people would look short next to Conan O'Brien. Moreover, it is not really an issue until you have side by side shots... in whcih case, lifts, angles and CG would resolve that.

Now, we need to soidify Loki...

I really don't see the need for lifts, angles and CG when all that can simply be cut out by casting someone who's near enough the height required.

It's just needlessly over complicating things.

I've no doubt that there are more physically suited (in terms of height; it's pretty much a given that the guys is gonna have to hit the gym to put on some mass) actors out there; they just have to be found - but, hey, that's what casting agents are for.

Besides, as I've said previously, I'd prefer Thor to be played by an actor of nordic persuasion. An unknown, if you will; surrounded by A-list talent.

I don't think Gerard Butler is a very good actor, personally. He definitely doesn't have the charisma for thor.

i have never read Thor but what do you mean by charisma Thor doesn't look like a charismatic hero ?

I swear to God, if anyone suggests a wrestler to play Thor. You sir, are an impecile.

While that is a great pick of Glover... both those guys would cheeze up the role to no end... ESPECIALLY Harrelson, neither of whom has done anything big in years.

Wow. Crispin Glover. Not a popular villain choice on this site at all :whatever:

My personal hope is that Branagh casts himself as Loki.

Don't understand why on Earth people think Cillian Murphy would make a good Loki. He's too pretty, too feminin-looking, too young and too small.
I don't know if those are such bad qualities for Loki. I see him as the polar opposite for Thor. A sly, smooth talking con artist, with kind of a feminine quality. Someone who doesn't quite fit in to the physicality of Asgard's warrior culture, and therefore both dismisses Thor as a brute and secretly envies his physical prowess. I think Joaquin Phoenix was pretty close to my image of Loki in Gladiator. I'm not sure who else could do a similar role. Especially since if Thor ends up being played by a relative unknown, they'll probably want to play it safe and get a well-known actor for Loki.

I totally agree with the sentiments of your post. No wrestlers to play Thor.

However, you've gotta appreciate the irony in the fact that you spelt 'imbecile' wrong.

:cwink:

 Joaquin is my pick too.

I'm liking some of these Loki choices.
I'd love to see Phoenix in this role.

Or Branagh. I'm still half-expecting him to cast himself as Thor.
