please be a joke post, please be a joke post, please be a joke post.

One thing is certain:

accepting, that even with a massive, open, worldwide casting call, they are still extremely unlikely to find a 6'6, naturally blonde, ripped, competent actor that also does a convincing Norwegian accent, whoever gets the role will not be good enough for one group or another.

so Look at it logically:

as long as the actor chosen is reasonably well toned n defined by the time shooting starts,and making the assumption other criteria can be met in terms of acting ability, and reasonably tall (ie not peter dinklage/verne troyer), does it actually matter if he is 6'1 or 6'6?
after all, he is meant to be a God. a couple of inches in height wont make him less powerful, and as soon as he sticks a lightening bolt up someone's arse, it wont make him less intimidating either.

and following from that, if he can do the accent, i would have a serious look at David Wenham. got himself in solid shape for 300, is a very solid actor, and a looker to boot (once voted Australia's sexiest man).

ohhhh, but he is a short arse at 6 ft. and after all, they didnt give Tyler Mane lifts in his boots for X men, did they? (how big depends on what you read: mane has listed his height at 6'10 in the past, currently 6'8. apparently movie sabretooth was 7'2, so its anything from 4-6 inches for the lifts.
Look at the size of the lifts they gave Brandon Routh in Superman. It aint difficult to do)

"I have no idea who should be cast as Thor, in fact I care little about the movie and was just given a link by a friend of my on AIM to this particular thread."

There was a recent article at AICN where they went so far as to call the script brilliant, with the potential to be the best Marvel adaptation yet.

The script focuses on the mythology of the characters.

The big worry is how much will end up on the chopping block becuase of budget restraints.

My pic would actually be Thomas Jane. Hes already in shape because of the year of training be did before bowing out of Punisher. There are tricks that can be done to make him appear larger, camera angles and such. Look at Harry P or LOTR as examples.
(This is actually a old pic. Supposedly hes in even better shape now)

Kevin McKidd would actually be a great Loki

What about Will smith

Will Smith's height is 6 ft 1.5 in

They did it several time already (www, and else)....:whatever:
Ok, this post is a

, but Somehow it's in tune with the THOR Thematic, Asgard, etc etc :o

Not sure whether I like the idea of Kevin McKidd as Thor really. He'd have to convince me otherwise.

And I fail to see why some of you guys want Karl Urban as Thor either. I just cannot see it. I am sorry.

And please not Triple H either.

My suggestions for today are:

* Thor
Henry Cavill

* Loki
Jonathan Rhys Meyers

* Odin
Brendan Gleeson

* Balder
Dominic West

* Fandral
David Wenham

* Hogun
Danny Trejo

* Volstagg
Abraham Benrubi

*Lady Sif
Amanda Tosch

I've never seen him act, I've also haven't got personally anything against him. But no matter at how many pictures I look, I can't picture him as Thor.

Okay, according to IMDB.com, Urban's next movie "Run" is in pre-production and set for 2008. So he couldn't possibly be doing Thor, so that's that. I'm open to other candidates, other then McKidd or Triple H of course.

Enter: Tyler Mane

Mane Looks Norse Towards ‘Thor’ Role
0 Comments | Published by Larry Carroll on Tuesday, August 28, 2007 at 11:24 am.
In the weeks following the August 9th announcement that Matthew Vaughn had been chosen to direct “Thor,” an online groundswell has begun to get a certain fan favorite cast in the title role. Sometimes, such efforts fail miserably (think Josh Lucas as Two-Face), but at other times Internet buzz actually plants the idea in the head of the studio (Michael Chiklis as Thing), so the idea of Tyler Mane as Thor might just prove to be a mighty one after all.

“I would love to take a look at that,” Mane responded this week when we asked the 6’8” former professional wrestler about rumors he’s being considered to play the Norse god. “That would be fantastic.”

The connections would seem to be in place already for Mane, who made his movie debut as Sabretooth in the 2000 blockbuster “X-Men,” another Marvel Comics property based on a long-time title. “Oh, I’m most definitely [familiar with the character of Thor], yeah.”

“I would love to,” Mane said of the possibility. “You never know [whether Thor will make it as a movie]. You have all those genres of the comic-book characters coming to life, from the Sabretooth character I did in ‘X-Men’ to all the ones that they did. It could be [the right time for Thor]; it depends on how it’s done, and who writes the script.”

“[Have they come to me] about ‘Thor’?” Mane repeated, shrugging his sizeable shoulders. “I have not heard anything yet, so we’ll see. Hopefully, somebody’s out there writing it for me like Rob [Zombie] wrote [a role in ‘Halloween’] for me.”

Directed by Vaughn (”Stardust”) and written by Mark Protosevich (the upcoming Will Smith flick “I Am Legend”), the adaptation of the 45-year-old comic is hoping to begin filming this winter. In the meantime, Mane joked that he might try and persuade Vaughn and the Marvel honchos he’d be perfect for the role by walking around with a giant hammer during the next several months. “Yeah,” he laughed. “I could give some people some ideas!”
Not exactly sure about this one but we'll see.

Tyler Mane, no thanx. He has the look, albeit a little neanderthal, but maybe he's a bit too big for THOR. He would make a better giant. There's no way his acting credentials will put him in the lead.

^ I'm totally NOT for wrestlers or football players size over acting skills. If a wrestler winds up being the best choice...so be it.

I cant imagine any studio having the balls to cast a wrestler in the lead in a movie like this. This is no The Scorpion King or The Marine. But I could totally see a whole bunch of wrestlers disguised as giants or even their leader. Well, giants are essentially Uruk-hais on steroids. Oh well... whatever...

No wrestler for THOR...

Hmm... I'm going to have to say no. I'm against wrestlers for this part. He's more of an actor now (yes, yes, wrestlers are "actors" anyways, but you know what I mean), but honestly... I would like someone more handsome for Thor. Thor deserves that. :oldrazz:

It's the same as with Triple H; The look is there, but the acting chops ain't.

Ever read a Thor comic? I've yet to see Mane (or Triple H for that matter) do anything to prove they can deliver the lines in Shakespearean English that have been associated with Thor, practically from the characters inception at Marvel....

Oh, right. I forgot that Shakespearean English thing. No wrestlers policy stands. Aparently my previous post's second picture isn't showing - I can't see it, don't know about everyone else. But Mane doesn't really strike me as Thor facially. Like I said, Thor deserves someone more handsome(no fens to Mane).

Tyler Mane, I could live with. Naturally, I would rather have more of a distinguished actor in the role, but if they INSIST on having a wrestler play Thor, Tyler Mane is really the only choice. He's the only one who can act worth a damn, not saying he's great or anything, but he would be infinitely better than Triple H
