Well then, name some!
Well, my top choice is still Henry Cavill, who was in the run for Superman, Batman and James Bond.

Brandon Routh was the least of that movie's problems, and from what I've seen many fans who disliked the movie still loved Routh.

I can see your point but I think a bigger name actor would have been wiser just on sales alone.

ROFLOL...why? Sorry but urban hasn't done anything to convince me he can carry a huge franchise like this.

Simply because I think he can do the character justice. I dont subscribe to the idea that franchises are heavy. With the right people involved, the movie should be good. The Marvel brand and Avengers buzz already sets huge precedent for the movies success.

If I did subscribe to the idea that franchises were heavy, than the heaviest would be LOTR and Harry Potter. The 3 children in Harry Potter are played by complete unknowns, while the most famous person in LOTR was either Ian McKellan, who despite being an Oscar nominee and much acclaimed actor was probably still referred to as the guy who played Magneto by many, or Elijah Wood who has been on a few peoples radar since he was a kid.

I like Thor done by Euro actors. They seem a heck more manly and Thor-like than Jake Gylenhaal and Tom Welling.

I 'm for an unknown European actor for Thor, But if they need a celebrity I don't see why Tom Welling wouldn't be a good contender.Superman and Thor have some similarities... Although my only problem is his voice, he's gonna have to fake his voice...But please not like christian Bale's Batman voice :woot:.

I Just find out that Gerald butler is actually 6'2 , I Though he was smaller than that....I can see him as thor with platform shoes, no problem

I am actually thinking... clean Jake Gylenhaal up in that pic, and throw the stars and stripes on him.

Besides... I am sold on Skaarsgard. But I could see Butler in there.

Jake Gyllenhaal as thor??? WTF?

ooooowwww... I think this thread is more sad than the Captain America thread. Most of these guys are big enough to be Captain America let alone Thor.I will say that Tripple H and the Sabertooth guy have the look pretty well. Their faces are a little too round and burley but on looks not too bad.So far who's the majority favorite of this thread??????

Too bad Triple H and the Sabertooth guy (Tyler Mane) cant act.

I wouldnt say there is a favorite by any considerable margin of any casting suggestion in the entire forum.

The problem is not to find a good actor but an actor that is huge& and can act.I am Definitely considering an Unknown actor for thor. I saw what DC did with superman old & new both were good unknown actors. Maybe we should spend more money on the special effect and the villains.

But let say we have to pick a celebrity or known actor then I have 3 contender (FOR NOW). All are 6'2 and more.

Gerald Butler 6'2

Tom welling 6'3

Tahmoh Penikett 6' 2½

and the winner is :o:

1)Gerald butler
The reason is Butler has better acting skills than than Welling & Penikett. Also I can't scarify the acting skills of butler for 1 inch taller.

Gerard Butlet for the Braveheart prequel... but seriously... can we stop mentioning this guy because he did 300? There are plenty of actors who can get ripped like that and wield a weapon. He's not right for Thor. I still like that Skarsgard kid.

That guy Tahmoth's arms look really flabby and bad.
And I didn't know Welling is 6'3!

I'm not impressed with Butler or any of those guys. Height only means so much. Anybody else. Anybody that looks like they would actually be able to throw a huge mega ton hammer?
