I've been following this project adamantly since Marvel announced it a while back.

Matthew Vaughn was a great choice for a director, but I'm much more impressed with [Academy Award Nominee] Kenneth Branagh.

So we have a date (July 16, 2010) and a great potential director.

All we're missing is a star, and my choice is Kevin Nash.

Here's a guy that not only fits the bill physically, but has proven in small yet memorable roles that unlike most wrestlers which have poor acting skills, He has what it takes to lead an action film of this nature.

We all know he was the best thing of the '04 Punisher, the show stealer in Adam Sandler's The Longest Yard and the best guy to mock Hulk Hogan in DOA: Dead or Alive.

To add to that he's also a guy that won't cost Marvel $20 Million.

I know nobody wants to take into account the 20 years of professional wrestling and the most popular in-ring persona of the business, but these are qualities that are definitely gonna benefit the portrayal of this character - a mytholigical God of War.

Not to mention the physical attributes he posseses that mimic Thor's:

-6'10"
-330 lbs
-Scandinavian descent
-Big comic book fan

I was really thrilled to see this next interview, for I think it may provide a clue as to why Nash is planning on taking time off TNA this coming year and why he decided to let his hair and grays grow out.

Take a look at the shirt he's wearing...

Nash is a great actor despite the reputation of wrestlers in cinema. He is also a talented writer (responsible for the creation of the NWO) and actually did a good job with his self titled comics in the 90s. Kinda Mad Max meets Resident Evil.

If this is our Thor and Branagh is our director, I am gonna LOVE 2010.

Sorry Snikt; my viewpoint is the same as Morg's was when he closed your 'Kevin Nash as THOR' thread.

His work in Punisher, Longest Yard, and DOA is far from proof that he is a good actor. He was born to play The Russian in The Punisher but he is far from perfect (real far) for Thor.

Based on that I've seen Nash wrestle and work the mic for years; and he's no Thor.

Stick around - you'll find that the general consensus on here is that people want a credible actor to play Thor; not a wrestler with delusional dreams of becoming one.

Far from perfect?

Ok, I hope you don't mean that visually - unless you didn't see the pics above.

Acting-wise he's VERY impressive.

The problem is nobody's ever given him a chance to grow.

This film could definitely be that chance.

Don't let his involvement with wrestling be an automatic reason to discard him as a good choice.

*Also, there really aren't too many people that can play a character like this.

Thor is 80% visual, his personality was never as complex as Banner or Stark's.

See, this is the problem that plagues wrestlers.

The few that have been given the opportunity to star in films have COMPLETELY blown it.

By doing that they've jinxed EVERY wrestler out there with decent acting skills.

John Cena in The Marine = CRAP.

Triple H in Blade: Trinity = SUPER CRAP.

Kane in See No Evil = ULTIMATE CRAP.

I understand why at a first glance people are turned off by wrestlers.

I myself have been wrestling for 3 years, but before I started I took drama classes for a while and shot a few Shakesperean film shorts.

I know if I break into the business my chances as an actor will die.

Anyway, I have a strong feeling that Nash can SURPRISE everyone were he to be given this role and I honestly can't see anyone else playing this character.

Specially not Brad Pitt.

Another thing: in the script Thor is supposed to face Vikings bigger than him. Who's gonna play those Vikings if Kevin is Thor?

They'll just get big 7 footers with no acting skills in particular (extras).

That's what they'll do even if Kevin doesn't play him.

*I prey to GOD they don't cast someone small just because he's got some Golden Globe Nominations.

You do know who's directing right?

Yes, I own Henry V.

But I have a question for you: You do know Thor is the scandinavian equivalent of Hercules, right?

John Milius, the man behind Conan The Barbarian was as gifted as Branagh or even more when he cast Arnold (a bodybuilder) in the role.

Look what happened to Arnold...

The name SCHWARZENEGGER is a household name because John Milius gave him a shot.

Im talking about everything. Even visually he is unimpressive. Sure hes big but so is everybody else in wrestling.

Acting-wise he's VERY impressive.

I dont even know what or how you can make this claim

The problem is nobody's ever given him a chance to grow.

This film could definitely be that chance.

As the lead in a multi-million dollar studio picture based on a very beloved character which its success is vital to the The Avengers movie planned for a couple years later? Thats not where actors are supposed to get their start.

Don't let his involvement with wrestling be an automatic reason to discard him as a good choice.

It certainly doesnt help. Its an industry based on melodrama.

*Also, there really aren't too many people that can play a character like this.

Thor is 80% visual, his personality was never as complex as Banner or Stark's.

That doesnt make the performance of the character or the talent of the actor any less important than Norton or Downey though.

There is no one else in wrestling that stands as tall as Kevin and looks as good as Kevin at that height.

Most 7 footers in wrestling look terrible.

Kevin is also the leanest and most symmetrical wrestler at his height, weighing about 330 at 10 percent body fat.

Here's another thing, he LOOKS just like Ultimate Thor...

twogh7.jpg

He's also a better actor than any other wrestler out there.

*Only The Rock can challenge Kevin's acting.

And no, this is not AMAZING acting I'm talking about.

Simply the acting required for a role like this.

Well theres many people with long hair and big muscles especially those of Scandinavian descent

I've got the feeling Branagh would require slightly more acting ability for whoever plays Thor than Milius required for Conan. The similarities between Thor and Conan end at them being large men.

lol stupid me. How could there possibly be anyone who is tall, muscular and has long hair? What was I thinking?

Im not going on some google image scavenger hunt to prove that their are tall, muscular people in this world.

Bottom line is appearing as hired muscles with no lines and as muscular guard #3 in an Adam Sandler movie doesnt make you a good enough actor to play Thor.

You keep saying that he has enough talent to perform Thor as if Thor is just some throwaway character but hes not. From what we know, the movie is about Thor becoming mortal and learning humility. I am quite sure that the actor will need acting talent.

I am a big Kevin Nash fan as a wrestler. He's a super nice guy. I've run into him a few times at the chiropractor's office. I don't want him as Thor though. He's a decent actor and yeah, physically, he's Thor. I don't believe he has the acting chops for the drama that Thor is gonna need. Thor is gonna require an actor who is as good at acting as he is at action. Maybe not an oscar caliber actor, but someone at the top of their game.

I totally agree with cereal killer. And in the 1st draft, Thor is supposed to be young... when he uses Mjolnir for the first time is just like a teenager driving a Ferrari with no control at all of the machine. Not that he's in his teens, but, you know, even if that Nash guy were an excellent actor, it would be hard to buy him as a young man learning lessons.

Besides.. Kevin Feige himself stated that all Marvel movies will follow Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk casting patterns, and that we should forget about wrestlers (Thank God, IMO).

I go back to my post on John Milius.

Judging by what you're saying, you would have said the same thing about Arnold 30 years ago.

Look what happened to that guy...

Arnold is more popular than DaVinci.

kevin nash would never ver be considered by Marvel. Fox isnt making this film MARVEL is
