Can't say I'm excited about them. Volstaag is bound to get annoying after a while(to me at least) and Fandral will just prance around like a Nancy-Boy.

Dude, Fandral is a Norse Errol Flynn. He may prance now and then, but he is not a goddamn nancy-boy. :cmad:

Fat people get on your nerves, Spoon?
Haven't heard the term "Nancy-Boy" in a while. I'll have to try and use that on someone before the day is done.

This is all well and good but the most pressing question is who's going to play Hemdal???!?!?!?

I'd really like Ralf Moeller for Heimdall. James Preston Rogers wouldn't be bad either. I wasn't for him as Thor, but he seems like a good enough actor for Heimdall.

David Wenham would be a good choice for Fandral.

I'd be cool with Denham as Fandral. He did a good job as Faramir in LotR, and Fandral's a much more upbeat personality than Faramir, so it'd be different.

Wenham is definitely my fave for Fandral, and Brendan Gleeson for Volstagg, but I have no clue on Hogun.

Isnt his origin something about being like a Middle Eastern or other Eurasia native who was welcomed into Asgard after his country was taken by Monguls?

A hilarious casting call
Thor - Official Casting Call for Volstagg

[VOLSTAGG]
Male. Early to mid 30s. 6'2" or taller. Obese but agile, fun, good-hearted, a warrior but prefers eating over fighting...SUPPORTING; OPEN TO ALL ETHNICITIES.

Gleeson sounds about right... Gleeson, Wenham, who's the other character and what actor should play him?

I dont think so. His role in both Van Helsing and The Propostion were vastly different from LOTR. 300 role may have been similar to LOTR, and The Australia role may have been similar to The Proposition, but hes getting more variety than you assume.

With the unknowns they got for the leads, what angle should we be taking with these smaller supporting roles? Should we assume they'll go for even less known names to reflect the lesser importance of the roles, or that they'll get bigger names in these roles to give the film some star power?

Also, Thor and Loki in their 20s is one thing, but even making VOLSTAGG early 30s!? Are they trying to make the Thor equivalent of Watchmen Babies in V For Vacation?

I think Odin will be a big name. To show who is the daddy...literally!

And I like that Thor and Loki are relatively unknown. It will avoid the whole "Hey that's...playing Thor!" It will be more like "That is Thor!"

Exactly, Ace.

The one big plus about unknowns playing established characters is that they dont have any pre-loaded baggage with the audience. There's no recognition factor which can potentially bring an audience out of buying their performance.

They might as well literally be the character, given that it's the 1st time the audience is being introduced to them.

Spot on

And I like that casting of Loki. He has the look, and I've always imagined Loki to act like a bit of a old school thespian, sorta like one of those old theatre villains. And the guy cast is a thespian!

I agree wholeheartedly, but I find Iron Man to be a completely different animal. Most everyone knew who Downey was and his problematic history. That very history is what made him perfect for the role of Stark. That and he's a good actor.

As for Thor, a well-known star cannot "fill the shoes" of Thor. Taking an unknown is like making him Thor. I'll always see Jackman as Wolverine first. Just like this guy will always be Thor (if he does a good job).

Brian Blessed has to have Odin on lock down, his in just about everything Branagh makes and I'm sure his best bud Patrick Stewart could put a word in for him at Marvel.

Seeming as they are casting young Alex Pettyfer could work as Fandral.

Alexander Siddig (Kingdom Of Heaven, Reign Of Fire, Syriana, 24, Merlin, Star Trek DS9) could work as Hogun.

Brendan Gleeson would make an awesome Volstaag he could plaay his fiddle in the movie too

Brian Blessed as Odin would be ****ing insane!!! Him or Brian Cox for me. The entire cast should be classic British thespians.

I'm wondering if Branaugh might bring in more talent from his "Wallander" show.

I kind of want to watch Wallander now. Besides giving me an idea of what Hiddleston's like, it sounds like a decent show.

heh at this rate Corp you'll be buried in movies. lol

Any ideas for Amora or Sif?

Sif has to be hot. Amora has to UNHOLY, SMOKING hot.
