Blessed to me would feel more like the God of God's than branagh would

oh yeah, I'm watching vids of him on YouTube and he just screams Odin to me. The beard should warrant the role. That is one epic beard

He and Branagh have already done a few films together so Branagh just needs to make it so!

I hope Branagh plays Odin.
I think he'd do it well but I don't think he is going to. A few weeks before Hemsworth and Hiddleston were cast Kevin Feige said that they were actively looking for actors to play Loki and Odin, which would be unnecessary if Branagh was going to take on the role himself

I'm off Branagh already. I want Blessed now.

Was there ever an "Official" announcement that Hemmsworth was signed to play Thor? Until then... I still hold out hope for Skars!!

Come on man Let it go... we have all accepted it and have welcomed Helmsworth as Thor... its time you do too :o

I just think its odd that his casting was "leaked" but we haven't heard anything official, yet we have heard other official casting already. Doesn't that set anyone elses spidey senses tingling??

And Louie... The Picard pic? Ouch!!

No, because neither Mickey Rourke, or Scarlett Johansson are confirmed by Marvel either. Only thing said about them was "final negotiations"

Hemsworth was cast as soon as Branagh saw the audition, he was blown away, so that means he played it better than Skars.

I didn't hear that. Where did that tidbit of info come from? Last bit of gossip I heard was that Brannah and Skars were seen having lunch together.

I'm also pretty sure that they did come out and "officially" cast both Rourke and johansson... I'll have to go back and check that out.

Rage

And the Hemsworth article features an update that "officially" confirms it

Funny you should mention the Rourke and Johansson articles, as those two "official" confirmations came from the exact same source as Hemsworth's confirmation :hehe:

Did you mean this?

UPDATE: Variety confirms that Hemsworth is in final negotiations for the role of Thor, and Nikki says that Marvel will be releasing a press release announcing the casting, as well as other casting for the movie sometime tonight

Did that press release ever come out that night? Not that I know of... I know that they DID release who would be playing Loki...but did they ever officially announce Thor?

Rage

No, the press release only included Hiddleston, as Hiddleston's deal was completely squared away and Hemsworth's deal was still being finalized at that point.

Not trying to be an @ss... but doesn't the delay seem odd? They apparently have their guy...yet there is no announcement. But Loki is cast/signed and announced. Why would it take so long to announce Helmsworth? Not like he's a big name actor and the negotiations are tricky and money issues vs. percentages of Box Office are being negotiated... He's a small time actor, attempting to make a break. Signing him to the contract shouldn't have taken this long.

Rage

That IS the announcement. There is no point in a press release after an actor and/or director is announced as being in final negotiations, as that is seen as confirmation There was never a press release for any of the Iron Man 2 actors (sans Downey and Cheadle), as they were announced elsewhere.

The contract hasn't taken this long, it is signed, sealed, delivered at this point. But when they put out their press release for Hiddleston, Hemsworth's deal was still being finalized, so he wasn't included. There is no point in putting out a press release after Hemsworth's final negotiations concluded, as it is redundant and a waste of time/resources/effort. Everyone already knows he is playing Thor. They put out the Hiddleston press release because word had not yet gotten out that he was in the role when they wrote it up

Thank you :o

Revised:

Thor/Donald Blake - Chris Hemsworth.
Loki - Tom Hiddlestom.
Sif - Missy Peregrym.
Volstagg - Robbie Coltrane.
Fandral - Phillip Winchester.
Hogum - Clifton Collins Jr.
Laufey - Kenneth Braghnah.
Odin - Stellan Skarsgaard.

I just went to IMDB.com and searched Thor. Funny, they had Helmsworth cast as Thor but Sam Jackson and Tom Hiddleston (rumoured) .... :whatever:

Here is your Volstagg:

Some convention goer, in his version of a Haggrid get-up (see the Harry Potter attempt next to him?)
