That was a terrible title fight. No heart from Evans at all.

Now the Rory McDonald fight was great, that kid has got it.

That was a fantastic title fight.

:wow:

I thought that was such a dull & uneventful fight after months of hype, I don't think either Jones or Evans looked good in the fight. Both of them played it far too safe, you'd think when 2 guys that supposedly hate each other even sniffed some blood that they'd look to apply real constant pressure to force a finish or lay some real punishment.. both did land decent strikes that forced the other to either stagger or take a few steps back but neither looked to capitalise.

It was a bit of a disappointment, but considering you have two great fighters whose strengths are taking away the other fighter's A game it's understandable. Rashad is hard to finish. He only lost once up until now for a reason. I think those elbows in the second really hurt him and had him stunned all night. Plus Jones's reach is just too damn hard to get past. Even with his speed and defense Jones still has too many tools. Wanna parry his punches and kicks? He still can hit you with quick elbows from a distance you can't touch him at. Dude is phenomenal.

Jones is a lot faster than Rashad. I but to be honest I was expecting a KO fight.

god i am waiting for someone to actually push forward against jones

every single fighter just watches jon and stay in defense mode

Jones looked good IMHO. He was really crafty with those elbows and he did a good job. Had Evans running and backing up the whole fight.

Evans boxing is no joke, Jones was right to be careful. This was a huge test for him and he past with flying colors. Evans wasn't able to get in his head or even get him to the ground.

The wrestling canceled each other out which I liked.

Jones haters are just upset because Evans talks a big game but can't beat the higher level guys.

evans talked alot but he did'nt bring anything

he did exactly what he criticized rampage for doing

he stared at jon and was in defense from rounds 3-5

Uneventful Main Event.

Both Jones and Evans put on 'meh' preformances (after months of hype about the bad blood feud). I expected more.

Oh well.

I was surprised Evans didn't take a chance at pressuring Jones in the 3rd round. Evans connected cleanly, and sent Jones tracking backwards with that right overhand. Shame. Things might have been different.

LOL that was hilarious.

I predicted Jones by decision. Never really went to the ground, but Evans to me looked like the same fighter that just got by against Thiago Silva and Rampage and couldn't truly "beat" them while guys like Jones do. All this fancy training and new camp, it couldn't solve Evans' issues.

I thought the way Jones used elbow strikes were great. I wish more fighters would throw elbows offensively like that. Elbows work!

Good for Rothwell. Finally came in shape for once for a fight and pulled off a great win.

Amazing and gutsy performance by Eddie Yagin. He deserved the win. Hominick just had this feeling of "Oh no I'm getting beaten again." It looks like he went out on the first knockdown. Referee gave Hominick a gift there. I was disgusted with Hominick's behavior after the fight. You've got good cardio and a pretty good chin but that doesn't mean you won. Doing push-ups after you get your ass beat up most of the fight doesn't mean you won.

The Jones haters are pissed Evans didn't beat him up like they thought he would. Jones is a boss. That simple.

I was talking about the fight before the main event.

See. I thought Jones/Evans was an excellent fight. It wasn't a brawl, it was a martial arts fight. Jones, once again, put on a striking clinic and looked good the whole night. The only time he looked vulnerable was when he got rocked by that head kick. The rest of the time he exploited his reach advantage, superior stamina and pure skill the whole time. Rashad was gassing, and on the defensive. He's just got an excellent defense to draw it out 5 rounds.

I wasn't expecting an emotional war in there, Jones is too cool headed for that.

Rory MacDonald was awesome.

I wasn't expecting a brawl either but neither man displayed any true hostility. It felt like both Evans and Jones were just there for the paycheck based on their performances.

Evans would land a huge shot but he refused to chase Jones, Jon would do the same and didn't finish off Rashad.

Each fighter had that one or two moments where he should have pushed it and risked getting KOed. Instead, they both played it safe.

Don't get me wrong, I didn't expect Evans to win, but jeez almighty... he had the speed advantage and Jones' striking isn't as unpredictable as it use to be.

People still watch UFC ? I thought that trend died when Brock Lasnor left....

It hasn't been that long since Lesnar left. He's replaceable, all UFC fighters are replaceable. The one constant has been Dana White. As long as White remains in charge of UFC, they will grow, probably to a point where UFC/MMA fans won't get in a rage whenever they see MMA fighters involved with pro wrestling.

I agree 100% DaveMoral. Jones completely out skilled Evans. Evans for all his talk when he gets in the cage couldn't be the better guy. Evans is an idiot talking about training and sparring with Jones because it's not the freaking same as an actual fight. Because there are no pads, it's not as controlled, and there aren't elbows. They don't go 100% in sparring either. And I doubt a newbie like Jones is going to be cute and try and show up a guy like Evans in training.

I appreciate the angle Dana used to sell the fight, but Rashad would've been foolish to think Jon would use the same tactics he was accustomed to seeing in practice. It was clear those elbows were giving him problems, and that's part of the reason he was reluctant to press the issue. I keep saying time and again, we can all sit on a couch and say what a fighter should do, but its another ballgame to have to deal with Bones Jones in the Octagon I'm sure...

Hey Evans talked a lot about it too. All that crap about how he was betrayed and so much better.

I got to be honest, through this whole thing I was mostly on the side of Jon Jones. Not that I'm a huge Greg Jackson fan. I think Jackson makes a lot of mistakes and handled this situation poorly. But Evans IMHO is a primadonna. He needs everything to be about him. Yes Evans is a champion but to me he's had his run and IMHO he never becomes a champ again just like Forrest Griffin. Evans is a very good fighter but he's just not that upper-echelon of fighters.

Evans is an idiot when he says things like I WOULD NEVER FIGHT YOU! to Jones. That reason being is I don't believe Evans for a second. I think Evans was looking for the excuse to leave Jackson's and fight for the title and Jones gave it to him. Yeah Evans, you are really going to move up to heavyweight being 5'11" or move down to middleweight because Jones is the champ.

Evans is an emotional mess. He was an emotional mess when he made the decision himself to wait for Shogun to get his title shot and COMPLAINED ABOUT IT! Dude Shogun is injured and you decided to wait. Did you desperately need I dunno an interim title fight? Did you need a fake title belt?

He also complained about Jackson bringing in Condit when he's got GSP. Dude it's going to happen sooner or later. Condit and GSP are going to fight and they aren't *****ing about it. GSP's main training camp is TriStar and main trainer is Firas Zahabi anyway and Jackson won't corner Condit for the GSP fight.

Ultimately here is my stance. I read about fighters training with so many camps and so many teams I can't take the friend thing seriously. It's like everyone knows and trains with everyone. I know you don't want to beat up your friend but at the end of the day if you are in the big organization and you want to make the big money, big endorsements, big bonuses, PPV points, and sponsorships than it's time to fight. Like Chael Sonnen says, from 9 to 5 I have no friends in the cage.
