That first fight was a fluke, IMO. Cain was clearly not himself, and JDS' overhand right barely caught him on the pad of his thumb. It was literally an upset because that should not happen on such a sloppy punch in the first place.
Last night was more the way that first fight should have gone. Not saying Cain should have had total dominance, but I'm saying Cain should have looked more like he did. JDS was taken by surprise because he was expecting the Cain from 13 months ago... not the Cain that destroyed Bigfoot and Lesner. And he got rocked early for it.
I want to see Velasquez/Dos Santos 3. Two completely different fights, I want one more.![]()
I see JDS taking on the loser of Bigfoot/Overeem. If Overeem loses then him and JDS is the easy fight to make since there is bad blood there. If it's Bigfoot then Bigfoot is a decent enough opponent for JDS to fight before getting another ****le tot.
Mace Bloodstone said:I think it's inevitable for a 3rd, probably end of the year again 2013. Overeem is supposedly fighting Bigfootsuper bowl weekend. If Overeem wins I'd like to see Him and Cain matchup, or even Big Country, Fabricio Werdum vs Cain. Not sure what J Dos Santos's next move should be before a rematch with Cain.
Honestly, I don't feel Overeem deserves a shot right after one fight back from a positive test... he should have to fight back into contention clean first. I'd like to see Velasquez vs. Dos Santos III first, but Overeem is the draw, so I understand it.
Those knees are still scary, and he knows utilize them. Overeem is a good kickboxer after all -- juice or no juice. That said, Silva has those giant fists and Alistair has been TKOed multiple times in his career already.
Yes but in the ufc world who deserves a title shot or not doesn't matter.
If he ends up fighting Cain those knees will be an issue. The way Cain was dirty boxing and clinching JDS against the cage leaves him vulnerable to get blasted to the body with those knees.
It's been a while since I watched an Overeem fight... but cardio might be an issue for him.
It will, he barely made it 3 rounds with Werdum & Werdum spent half the fight lying on his back asking Overeem to enter his guard.
