This is fight is gonna be VERY interesting!!! Bisping gets a shot at @spideranderson if he wins. Pumped for this fight!!!

That's what cost him, I think. Bisping didn't do enough in the last two rounds. Wanderlei came out as the aggressor and nearly TKOed him in the final seconds. That cemented the decision victory for Silva.

I dislike how the judges look at things like that, with the exception of the final round I believe it was when Wanderlei put him in trouble, the judges gave rounds to Wanderlei based on him finishing the final 10 seconds of a round really agressive despite Bisping having taken him down several times & peppering him with shots for the other 4 minutes & 50 seconds.

To be honest the only round they should have give him for doing that was the one in which he actually hurt Bisping & put him in trouble.

Eh, I'm not impressed with any of the MW prospects in the UFC. Hopefully the new signings from Strikeforce will add some much needed excitement.

I do generally agree, however it's only because Anderson Silva is in the division everyone is expecting his challengers to be people on strong 4/5 winning streaks. The problem is people are getting title shots before they are ready.. Personally if anyone had a chance of beating Anderson out of all the contenders I thought it would be Bisping.

I'm not saying he would have won by any means, I think Anderson Silva would have demolished him, however I feel he had the best chance due to how well rounded he is.

Argh, just saw the Bisping/Belfort fight, it was stopped too soon. Bisping was dropped & even though Vitor was swarming on him Bisping was still actively defending himself, Vitor hit him maybe 2 or 3 times out of 10 punch/body elbow attempts. Personally in situations like that referees need to have cooler heads & see if a fighter can recover by giving the defending fighter time provided he is not taking clean shots to the body or head repeatedly.

What makes sense to me is that once Sonnen gets smashed by Jones set Jones/Belfort up at 205.

Bisping was done, dude. He was in the fetal position not moving at all. He might have been blocking his face, but he wasn't doing it effectively at all. He knew the end was near, and the ref basically stopped it to keep it from being worse than what it ended up being. When a guy is laying over not doing anything he's not coming back.

No way that was an early stoppage. Bisping was hurt and out of it. I'd like to see some of you who think it was early take two head kicks and see if you can continue fighting.

Disagree completely with both of you completely. Watch the fight again, Vitor maybe lands 2/3 clean blows on the ground out of about 10 thrown, the rest he either misses completely or was absorbed by Bispings arms.

Obviously it differs from fight to fight, situation to situation, however in that case I'd have liked the referee to have just given it a few more seconds much like the referee of the Carwin/Lesnar fight. In both cases Bisping/Lesnar were badly hurt & both Bisping & Lesnar remained static for a few seconds, however in Lesnar's case seeing he was still protecting himself the referee gave him a warning to show him something which prompted him to react.

There's no doubt the head kick hurt Bisping, but he was still had enough wits to keep himself covered up meaning he obviously wasn't that out of it.

I don't think it was a bad stoppage. Bisping was clearly hurt and he was not in a good position to really recover. I've seen worse stoppages.

I think the biggest offenses were though in the Tavares fight, Dan Miragliotta came in way too late. And in the Alcantara/Nobre fight, despicable. Those were not illegal shots and it ended in a no contest.

I don't know. I gave my friend a concussion with a head kick. Not full power. And with gear on. I guess it all depends on the person. But the shin is extremely powerful and cuts through pads with ease. It would suck to take one bare and full power to the head.

The difference between Bisping and Lesnar was that Brock kept moving. He took a lot of damage, but he always moved when the ref warned to stop it. While hurt Brock tried to recover and get away while Bisping just lied there and did nothing. If he would have squirmed that would make sense, but he just laid there waiting for the fight to be stopped. Even when punches aren't getting through you could tell the guy wanted no more. He literally just laid there waiting for the end.

Bisping was in a bad fetal position that IMHO cannot be defined as "intelligent defense."

This is exactly my point, even though Lesnar was immobile for maybe 5-10 seconds he was still blocking 80% of the punches thrown by Carwin, the referee gave him a warning to fight back/show him that he was still in the fight & Lesnar responded. The same premise could have been used in the Bisping fight because he was immobile for only 3 or 4 seconds, in which time he had blocked 80% of Vitor's swarm on the ground.

I'm not questioning that Bisping was hurt because he clearly was, my question is was he really hurt enough to the point were it should have been stopped so quickly after he had been dropped. I mean he bounced straight back up to get checked out as soon as the referee stepped in which is another reason why I think it should have been allowed to run for another 5-10 seconds provided he had continued to defend himself.

It was merely second early, what if what if.

Bisping lost. Belfort was in extremely good shape for this fight, definately worked on footwork and cardio for this one. He wasn't just straight line walking, until he hurt him.

Really what's next for the division though, I say Weidman gets 1 more and then a title shot.

There is always Rashad Evans. He says he would like to fight Silva.

Given that Weidman is injured and Belfort smashed Bisping round 2, I can see Silva/Belfort 2 in Brazil, May/June, just to keep it moving.

It was more than merely a second, Bisping wasn't hurt enough for that to have been stopped so quickly after he'd been dropped by the kick & Belfort hadn't done enough damage to him once he had been dropped to warrant a stoppage.

Now go watch the Thiago Tavares/Khabib Nurmagomedov, that was a fight refereed by the same referee on the same card & it's a fight that he should have been stopped almost the second Tavares hit the ground, he was far more hurt & ate every single elbow that was thrown at him he was that out of it. Bisping was nowhere near as hurt & nowhere near as dazed.. I can only surmise that Dan Miragliotta had been told just how late that stoppage was & as a result he ruined the Belfort/Bisping fight because he was refereeing too cautiously.

Really what's next for the division though, I say Weidman gets 1 more and then a title shot.

The person that gets the next MW title shot should have to go through Vitor because he's the No. 2 MW in the UFC at the minute. So unless Vitor disappears up to LHW, he's the No. 1 contender.

Weidman is no more deserving of a title shot at the minute than his replacement for the Boetsch fight, Philippou who TKO'd Boetsch. Arguably his TKO win should put him ahead of Weidman as Boetsch should be ranked higher than Munoz in the 'rankings' as he was coming off 2 strong wins against Okami & Lombard.

There is always Rashad Evans. He says he would like to fight Silva.

The only issue I have with Evans fighting Silva is that he has never fought in the weightclass before.

If he plans on taking a run at MW given his high ranking status as a LHW he should be made to fight someone like Vitor, Lombard, Okami or some high ranking MW just to somewhat prove he deserves it.

The UFC should make a ranking system public & somewhat try to stick to it barring injury etc. As when you've guys like Sonnen coming up to LHW & instantly getting a title shot or Edgar dropping down for fight Aldo.. while yes they might be good for PPV & bring in better money, it kinda takes away credibility from the division & the champion himself I feel.

Matt Hughes has officially retired from MMA. He will now join the UFC in a front office role.

Thank you for everything Matt Hughes.

The next two weeks are going to be awesome. The Fox card and the Aldo/Edgar card are stacked! The two main events are hard to call with great technicians too, so I'm pretty damn anxious to see what's going to happen.
