An odd argument, since McMann is even older than Zingano. I'm not going to pretend McMann isn't a solid fight though, I am interested to see how her Olympic-level wrestling would translate against Rousey. But McMann hasn't been some monstrous prospect in MMA so far. She had a good UFC debut, and has been generally very solid, but she received a rather gift decision against Baszler in Invicta.

Well, if Weidman's last fight didn't confirm it, it did now. I don't care how it ended. Chris had Silva badly hurt in the first round. Dean easily could have called it when Anderson's head bounced off the canvas.

Would have gone well. Especially given the year we've had(near finishes).
I would have enjoyed seeing the all the talk around Weidman coming out of that. Complete with snapshot of fully conscious silva shouting at ref.

It happens but it wouldn't be pretty imo.

She's a stronger prospect than Zingano with that wrestling pedigree. Cat wouldn't challenge Rousey at all in my opinion. That match up would be like watching Rousey vs Tate 3.

Styles make fights. The past doesn't matter.

Styles do make fights. And a wrestler against Rousey is tailor-made for that wrestler to lose.

Also, Zingano's style is nothing like Tate's. Tate is a wrestler first and foremost, which is why she went for takedowns almost instinctually, even when it screamed "bad idea". Zingano is a striker with a solid pedigree in BJJ. Her husband is a renowned BJJ practitioner.

Either way, that first round sealed enough for me. Ando appeared diminished at the start of the second round.

I don't care who does it, just someone do it, please.

And Weidman didn't look nearly as "gassed" as he did after the first round of the first fight.

This?

Or this?

I can't see anything in the first spoiler window. I fear it's Corey Hill, so I thank my small blessings that it didn't load.

One is a still and one is a gif of Anderson's injury.

In what galaxy? As a fellow Judoka, I can tell you that's a load of crap. A powerful wrestler can match a Judoka's sweeps and hip throws. Rousey wouldn't be able to pull off some of those ippons against a wrestler of McMann's caliber. Olympic Judo vs Olympic Wrestling = Wash.

You're comparing mid-tier BJJ against Olympic-level Judo. I don't care if Zingano ends up on top, she won't submit or control Ronda. Cat is a better striker but that won't mean diddy squat if she can't escape Rousey's grip/clinch. It'll end up exactly like tonight (with Ronda rag-dolling Cat all over the octagon) with a busted nose.

It will amaze me that fighters practice throwing and checking kicks, just to build up all that calcium and crap in their shins, effectively making them dead to impacts. Thousands upon thousands of times. After just one, my reaction would be "Nope...."

And how many of McMann's fights have you actually watched? Just looking at her pedigree is not enough. It's about how well she translates it into MMA. Like I said, she's done fine, but I've seen nothing to suggest she can neutralize Rousey's offense.

McMann should've lost to Shayna Baszler. Watch that fight some time.

Are you referring to me, or Doomsday? Because I brought that up. Not accusatory, just curious. I'm as guilty as anyone of not quoting posts and leaving it a bit confusing.

If a fight could be decided in a round, we'd have a two other new champs this year(especially at ww). I saw decent guard work(which jds used some of that in his second cain fight). CW did about as good as hendo in round one I suppose.

Not as good as Chael imo.

To anyone discussing McMann, she fought Baszler, and she IMHO should've lost that fight. It was a robbery for McMann.

Did I say she would?

In reality, Rousey might end up submitting McMann too but she possesses far more potential than Zingano (who is a white belt compared Ronda). If she takes down Rousey however, she'll grind out a decision victory.

Honestly, I love McMann/Rousey. This is a huge fight. It's two American Olympic medalists. Both undefeated. Wrestling vs. judo.

Yeah, I mentioned that in the post at the top of this page. It was a huge gift of a decision. Baszler soundly outstruck her all fight.

Zingano is a great striker which has always been one of Tate's weaker areas. Tate's strength is in her wrestling and grappling. For Rousey, her grappling game is worlds above Tate. Not only that, Rousey uses her range and size very well against a smaller fighter like Tate. It's a great advantage for Rousey to have.

McMann is still incredibly green. That's my fear about that fight, and why I think it's a Ronda whitewash like the rest. I WANT McMann to challenge for the title, but not so soon. I would rather see someone like Alexis Davis. I wasn't even really suggesting Cat would win, just why I'd be interested in it. Darth was mentioning Cat, and I just responded to it. She was the original challenger, after all, before Tate.

Her striking isn't great, but Rousey showed a lot of improvement in her striking game here. Not saying she will knock out McMann, but she used ground strikes and transition strikes very well here.
