This is better than WrestleMania. In the situation that Mendes wins, that means he must fight Aldo again which I don't see a point of. He's lost twice to Aldo and if he beats McGregor and fights Aldo again he'd only be one fight removed from fighting Aldo again. There's no need for a rubber match between Aldo and Mendes, as exciting as the second fight was.

This is something I was thinking about as well. I wondered why they'd went or seemingly asked for Mendes before Edgar, because Edgar is the one of the two that is more on a run of fights for the title.

The only reason I can think is that Mendes & McGregor have a little bit of history in the sense that both of them have kinda talked a little **** about each other despite never having fought one another. Either that or Edgar is carrying some sort of injury himself as he doesn't seem the type that would turn down a fight on 4 weeks notice.

McGregor winning would be the best thing for the division. I like Mendes but Conor is more entertaining in & out of cage, I hope he can finish him inside 4 minutes, that would amuse me.

My money is on Mendes, as I honestly don't know how McGregor could handle a grappler. If anything, I think McGregor has a better style match up with Aldo then he does with Mendes or Edgar.

I think that's one of the reasons why Mendes is probably the favourite heading into the fight. It's because there's kind of an air of uncertainty regarding McGregor's level of grappling ability & his ability to deal with a fighter with a wrestling backround.

It's classic wrestler vs striker IMO, McGregor's got a strong striking backround, Mendes a strong wrestling.

Still should be a good fight.

Going to the UFC Expo this weekend. How long are the lines to meet a fighter usually?

It's so rewarding being a Robbie Lawler fan.

Ditto. My imaginary money is on Money. Want him to humble Connor

Best card of the year I feel, none of the main cards fights were bad from the Almeida vs Pickett fight to McGregor vs Mendes.

Everybody on that card winners & losers have earned themselves some new fans.

I'll be surprised if Aldo fights McGregor. Connor looks like the real deal. Jose, bro, it's time to leave the division.

The Aldo vs McGregor fight is now comfortably twice the size as it would have been had it happened tonight.

Conor looked real good tonight, am I alone in thinking that McGregor is a better striker than Aldo? His hands & legs, everything he throws is so crisp, technical & most importantly precise. He took 1 or 2 hard punches from Mendes as well in some of the exchanges & barely seemed to blink, he looks like he's got a fantastic chin. That unification fight should be insane.

Featherweight division just got a massive shake up tonight, that result was one of the best things for the division. You've got so many potential fantastic match ups with just the top 4 fighters alone Aldo/McGregor, Mendes/Edgar, McGregor/Edgar etc even rematches like Aldo/Edgar or even McGregor/Mendes when both have proper camps to prepare for one another

Perhaps but I don't think Aldo is mentally strong enough to withstand Conor's antics. Jose cracked long before June. I mean, as soon as Aldo's piss results vanished, I had a sneaky feeling that he wouldn't fight tonight.

And no you're not alone. Aldo has appeared quite human in the striking department in his last three bouts. McGregor not only has a tougher chin and imposing power but his striking is actually efficient. Connor doesn't waste his punches. The only advantage I give Jose is the leg kicks. That's it. McGregor looks better everywhere else.

The future is so bright for that division. The depth is outstanding and the match ups are mouthwatering.

There were several times throughout that tour from the UFC embedded series that McGregor really got under Aldo's skin to the point that he was moments away from throwing a head kick in Conor's direction.

Aldo's drug testing fiasco was very fishy, although I don't know the policy on these drug testers or what protocol is but if somebody comes into your gym & asks you to piss in a cup, why did they appear to go to such lengths to refuse such as calling Brazil's governing federation to find out if they'd been notified of the test.. even if Aldo was completely innocent of any wrongdoing, paints him in a very bad light.

Aldo also looks like he struggles making the weight & then be able to look energetic for the length of the fight. He seems to do a lot of stalling conserving himself for the final minutes of each round with Conor constantly pressing forward as he did tonight against Mendes, if Aldo can't get his respect early by landing something hard I find it hard to believe Aldo could go 5 rounds with McGregor unless he can get him to respect his strikes.

Think Chad had his ribs broken or bruised in Round 1. Massive spinning kick by Conor. Gassed in Round 1, hands down rest of the way. Chad looked lost at range stuck behind the threat of Conor's attack. Dude is good, delighted he won, I think Aldo is an easier fight for him.

I'd seen a few people say that on Twitter & make excuses for Mendes because he didn't have a full camp. I don't think he gassed at all during that fight. I think Conor really hurt him with either that spinning kick he opened the fight with or one of the subsequent body kicks that followed.

After he'd nailed him with the kick(s) his hands naturally dropped because he didn't want to get nailed in the ribs again & thus Conor was able to score on his head.

Obviously having a 3 week camp didn't do him any favours cardio wise, but I don't think he had a cardio issue in the fight, I think it was just one of those kicks Conor landed that hurt him more than he let on.

I think Mendes with a full camp will have a better showing than this. I think he dumped adrenaline and lost it, because he was gassed in the first round and just standing in front of McGregor to hit at will. I think that's obvious. At least, it is for me.

I think both guys with full training camps actually training for each other, both would be better. Training to potentially strike with someone for 5 rounds is different from training for someone whom you could potentially be grappling with for 5 rounds not only from a technique & gameplan perspective but also the type of cardio you require.

Well the reason I don't think he gassed was because he looked as static as he did from the moment Conor landed those opening kicks inside the first 10 seconds of the fight. It's as if one of them actually caught him & hurt him more badly than his posture let on.

Word is that the UFC wants to do Aldo/McGregor at MGM Grand in January.

Fertitta said the fight would probably take place on January 2nd next year, "but that's not set in stone. We have MGM reserved on January 2."

I don't think the fight is happening any time soon. Aldo seems to be on the outs with the UFC and he even might sue them for defamation.

That's because Aldo doesn't want to get his ass whooped in front of the world, lol.

Anyone have any idea when we should hear an indicment in the Jon Jones case? Last I heard it was going to be the end of June, and analysts projected in the area of two years in prison.
