I wonder if Carey had a heart attack when he saw the recent revelation that was revealed about Rogue and
Sentry
.I wonder if he will actually use that or ignore it and pretend as if it doesnt exist

what was revealed?

Makes ya wonder if Rogue just trolls the world, looking for guys she can screw without her mutation affecting them. Apparently it doesn't matter if they are married or not, or villians, or whatever. Meanwhile all is fine and well as long as Remy trails behind her, kissing her ass and always having to ask for forgiveness from her highness. And folks wonder why I can no longer stand the b-tch? ROMY needs to put itself out of its own misery. :(

this isnt funny! J/K. When Rogue got a handle on her powers, I joked around that it might be best if she explored her options. After this, I have no doubt that she probably did. I wonder who else in the Marvel Universe she's screwed around with. Johnny Storm seemed interested in her and Sentry. Maybe its bc he messed with her too. Iron Man is most likely a given. All this time I thought Gambit was her first and only and now thsi reveal

it just feels so random. i mean have they even been in the same comic together? i would believe her having a little thing with Logan (he did have a thing for her at one point) before doing the nasty with Sentry.

Remember, Sentry is a retcon character. Nothing in that character's history ever happened in a past comic, but he's apparently been around almost as long as the Fantastic Four.

yea but even still....random. and i thought everyone forgot about the Sentry, so wouldnt she not remember that? i dunno. i just think its stupid.

When everyone forgot about the Sentry, he was never supposed to come back again. But Bendis brought him back anyway, and now it's impossible to know whether or not people remember his past. I certainly got the impression that Sentry and Hulk were once old pals during World War Hulk.

Mike Carey actually commented on it. Heres what he wrote on his FB page

Okay, guys, I'm going to comment here in a fairly circumspect way. I've responded to some of you in one-to-one message threads, and I'm going to ask you not to come back to me on this, because there won't be anything I can add.

As everybody knows, I try not to do ret-cons - and as I type that, my nose just ... See Moregrew by about a foot and a half. What I try not to do is "type 2" invasive ret-cons that erase things that are commonly supposed to have happened. I'm shameless about type 1 ret-cons, where stuff happened but you just didn't know about it until now. The whole of the Professor X incarnation of Legacy was made up of stories of that kind.

This is a type 1: it happened, because Rogue says on-panel that it happened. It was behind the scenes, invisible, and the chronology isn't clear, but it happened. Is it surprising? I think so. In terms of Rogue's behaviour in relationships, her sexual morality insofar as we can infer it, her personal history up to this point, this revelation is hard - on the face of it - to reconcile.

But as someone says above (sorry, thread is too long to find the reference again quickly) what we know is minimal, and we can fill in an infinite number of stories around these few details. There are ways it could have happened that would make sense. I won't be the one who tells the story of how it actually did happen, but I'm accepting that it happened and the story is there to be told.

Characters in a shared fictional space are created by a kind of consensus. Someone dreams them up and puts them onto the stage, but a whole lot of someone elses then fill in the blanks. When you get contradictions, or apparent contradictions, fans build their own conception of the character from the parts they like most or believe in most.

This is a dangerous and frivolous analogy, but look at the Bible. I'm an atheist, but I'm happy to acknowledge that there's a core of teachings in the Bible that vast numbers of people base their lives on - but crucially, it tends to be a different core for each of them. You take what makes sense to you, and you view the rest with some mixture of tolerance and caution.

I think you have to do the same with shared universes.

If they ever appeared together, it's news to me.

Makes ya wonder if Rogue is the type of gal who'd make up stuff to get sympathy at a funeral. For some odd reason she reminded me of my sister in that scene, my sis bawls over folks who died when she she barely knew them.

I'm going to ignore that whole thing with Rogue/Sentry. This is why I don't care for The Sentry, since he's literally or well was literally a big old ball of retcon as a character you can literally say anything happened to him and get away it. He's like Jenkins on personal Marty Stu he inserted into the Marvel universe.

I don't know why folks are getting their noses bent out of shape about this. So she had a fling with the Sentry. So what? There is no context to this, but we can assume it's during one of her many breakup periods with Gambit. I see no harm (it's not like Remy was sitting home alone either...). It's a bit weird being brought up like that, and her reaction was a little drama queenish, but I don't think it will ever be acknowledged by any other writers.

Mike Carey sure as hell won't acknowledge it, and he's Captain of the SS Rogue right now.

i like the idea of Rogue being an undercover ho...all those years of sexual yearning and wanting and frustration...then to know that she can touch somebody? i'm sure she has touched A LOT of bodies that we have yet to find out about

I agree that Gambit and Rogue have had so many breakups that it could have happened then but it could also have happened before they met. Maybe when she was younger, like around the time she first joined the X-Men or when she was with the Brotherhood. Also, in re reading it , it may imply that their relationship had gotten into a sexual nature but it doesn't definitively state that. All she said( on panel) was that he was the only one who could hug her.
Johnny- Waitaminute. Did she... ( Could be asking if she just implied they had seen each other)
Cyclops- Yeah
Johnny- I mean did they.. ( Could be asking if they had acutually dated)
Cyclops- Yeah
Johnny- How long?

Just a thought.

yea i was thinking that same thing when i was reviewing the book at my lcs today, but at the same time Cyclops probably wouldnt have been cutting Johnny off if it was more than something "dirty". itd be easier for me to accept them dating then just a one-and-done hook up. but even still.....stupid.

Again, what rankles me most about this deal with Sentry, is that Bob has been married a really long time. Supposedly to his high school sweetheart. Is marriage no longer sacred? I get it that she found someone she could touch, but one or both of them should have at least honored his vow. :(

Warren and Bobby actually talking to each other? I can't remember the last time that happened.
