the Xmen who barely get to do anything. You know, Iceman, Gambit, Dazzler Northstar, Husk, etc.... I think people still havent taken to it turning into a pseudo-solo series and preferred when it was a team book with a core cast

I definitely did. Uncanny, Adjectiveless, X-Force, New Mutants. That's what I'd prefer.
Two teams of X-Men, Logan's secret group, one for the former New Mutants and the new brand of kids. Perfect.

Core teams and rosters made less sense when the school was rebuilt into the giant "X" shape a few years ago. Back then it was entirely about student squads and learning. Now its very much about protecting, avenging, surviving, integrating, and somewhat about learning how to control powers (but not so much the schooling/education side of learning). Core teams going on missions to rescue remaining mutants, to investigate mutant related crime/terrorism to prevent fear and hatred backlash; now that makes sense for Eutopia. But still we have the limbo-crew (Iceman, Gambit, Husk, Hepzibah, Dazzler etc), then two books focussing on the same four guys just cos the writers couldnt agree on who got who, and x-kids getting waaaayyy too much panel time for my liking in every damn book there is.

Rockslide is an arrogant, untrained, reckless, ignorant tool - stop sending him into every battle!

I think the kids would get less panel time if their own book hadn't been cancelled. It got good after issue #5, dammit!

they just need to trim the fat. maybe as a symbolic message "everyone is an X-Man" is good to promote unity, but meaning it literally has just crammed the books with cameos. even when they take time out and focus on some characters with Nation X it mostly focused on characters who are already getting face-time in the regular books.

the X-Men needs to be a team, not a community. 6-8 members max and focus on them in one book. im reading through all my old Claremont back issues and even i (whos enjoying the books now) cant argue that those stories were more personal compared to now. have some people leave because theyre home sick, they dont like Cyclops anymore, want to make their own lives, form their own team, whatever. but we have 3 "X-Men" titles to use, there shouldnt be any reason we cant read about people other than Cyclops, Emma, and Wolverine.

People are always saying stuff like "the X-Men franchise needs to be cut down to one title" and "get rid of the extra characters." If Marvel did that, we'd have Uncanny X-Men starring Cyclops, Wolverine, Emma, Dr. Nemesis, Colossus, Hope, Magneto, and Pixie. You think the Gambit and Iceman fans are annoying? Just wait until the hardcore fans of everyone else get pissed off and refuse to shut up about their favorite character needing more panel time. X-Men fans would become even bigger whiners than we are right now.

yeah that might be one of the bigger problems, allowing the writers such freedom. They all want the same characters and they tend to use them, leaving the rest in the background.

That's who I'm hoping will be in Gischler's X-Men.

I doubt Iceman will be among them. Back when we were all guessing who'd die during Second Coming, Iceman was on a few of our possible lists because he didn't appear in any post-SC artwork.

i think that's exactly the problem with the X books these days, all the writers want to use the same Characters!

That's why i think it should go back to the days of teams, and if a writer can't fill up a team of X-men he/she shouldn't be writing them as the X-men are a team not a group of five or six of the same people. I'm sick of an x book coming out and it's got the exact same characters of the last weeks Uncanny for example, who were just in space. No wonder the sales are more crappy these days.
