The Dark Knight Ok, so let's talk about the inevitable twist....

Yep. It would be especially potent if we think Joker kills Rachel, only to discover Harvey actually did it. (maybe she finds out he has been killing people, so he does it to silence her?)
That would make for an awesome twist. Imagine Bruce's horror when he discovers he's been madly hunting the Joker and - presumably - beats and almost kills him only to find out it was his ally all along? Sounds very Nolan-ish.

Though I wouldn't want Bats to find out until #3, after Harvey becomes Two-face. That way, the tension is on Harvey to keep his terrible secret from his allies, and will be one of the causes of his eventual mental snap.

The twist will be that some of the murders that we think the Joker did, will actually have been committed by Likeable guy Harvey Dent.

I'd love for them to go this way. I was just thinking that when I saw the thread, and you beat me to posting it. I think it's a much better way to take Harvey on that road to Two-Face than just having him get scarred and then go crazy.

Good points. It also gives the Joker a reason to want to scar him - assuming they go that route and have him do it instead of Maroni. Joker has always hated people framing him for crimes he didn't do, usually because he felt is was an insult to his brilliance.

Works for me!

Great Idea , that sounds like Nolan to me....then we can see Bats go emotionally crazy for losing his girl and go after Jokes and Dent.

This would not be a twist for all us "bat fans" but for general audiences:

Forgot what comic this is from. But, the first appearance of Two Face. Where we find out that Harvey Dent was involved in the calendar murders.

We will have a twist that is very similar to that.

The twist is that at the end, Bruce wakes up in that Burma prison cell still incarcerated as Alfred finally shows up arranging his release.

i dunno about that man...
i think that would just go against the point of Harvey Dent's story and the tragedy of the character.
he doesn't turn to evil until he becomes Two-Face. if he does that even before his transformation, what makes him a good guy then? he wouldn't be a sympathetic character.
in The Long Halloween, he doesn't commit murder until he became Two-Face. :csad:

You might want to re-read TLH again.

Harvey and Gilda were actually the Holiday killers.

I have read TLH.

Gilda Dent was the first Holiday killer. Then it was Alberto Falcone. And after Harvey became Two-Face, that's when he killed Carmen Falcone and his own assistant for betraying him.

The idea that Dent resorts to murder even BEFORE his becoming Two-Face undercuts the tragedy of his story. Jeph Loeb cleverly wrote the story to make it seem as if Dent was a suspect in the murders. But it turns out he was one of the good guys until his transformation.

Gilda started, and Harvey joined in on New years eve.

Alberto made it up to make his father pay attention to him.

You could be right. I'll have to read it again

The New Year's even murder victim was Alberto Falcone. He faked his own death. Then he started committing the rest of the Holiday murders.
Gilda Dent had assumed it was Harvey commiting those murders but it was Alberto all along.

The "twist" will probably be that it isn't a perfectly happy ending and Dent gets a bunch of acid on his face (and maybe even Joker breaking out of jail in the same scene)
thats wut id have to guess:yay:

It's one of the best Batman stories out there.

^not after the twist has been RUINED . . . .
j.k., I already read it :D
, or however you do spoiler tags

Maybe Heath Ledger isn't really going to be Joker, Maybe he is going to be Harvey Dent.

That would be so crazy if it were true. Like with the Ras Al Ghul/Ken Watanabe/Ducard/Liam Neeson fiasco.
If Nolan keeps doing this misdirection sh**, he needs to be punched in the nuts. :batman:
