After how she's been done in live-action TV and how they did SS, my expectations are low.

I absolutely love the latest Arrow BC, actress & costume. In the realm of Suicide Squad, right down to the nose piercing that Datrinti fanart nailed what anyone would expect.

I haven't seen Arrow in a while, so I don't know if they've made any changes. What I saw of Dinah's suit, I thought it was ok and better than Laurel's.

I'm still 'Eh..." of that fanart being what one would expect after SS. But, maybe since this won't be made by the exact same people behind SS, we could expect it.

If she's mean to be a contemporary of Jim Gordon and Crispus Allen, both of whom are older in the DCEU, then this makes sense. Also she's a good actress.
It'd be kind of funny if she had the Murtagh from Lethal Weapon "I'm too old for this s**t" thing going on.

she is clearly just going to be the GCPD cop of the movie
Rosie might just be the right age if this is a seasoned Renee Montoya kinda like everyone else is in the snyderverse

I was actually hoping for more of the samurai look from the comics. But, I really like her mask, though.

I get your point your making, but i'm kind off baffled as to why your directing your comment at me. Did you even read my message in context to who I was even responding to? I don't appreciate that. I posted my message because someone said something about deciding to skip the movie because of Black canary's skin being mixed or something along those lines ( i'll have to check again).

I'm a big fan of Rosie Perez. I watched her documentary about Puerto Rico, love 'White Men Can't Jump' etc. But I am really surprised by this casting! Never really envisioned The Question being like Rosie Perez I am interested to see how this goes. I'm still a bit surprised actually hehe

This is awful casting. I was prepared to "wait and see" with the somewhat underwhelming casting of Jurnee Smollet Bell and Mary Elizabeth Winstead, but this takes the biscuit.

I'm now fully on board with the theory that Margot Robbie wants NOBODY to steal her shine.With this casting line-up, Robbie remains comfortably the "sexiest/hottest/starriest" member of this group, and that does not feel like coincidence to me. And now Rosie Perez, who I never found especially attractive in her youth (especially with that voice) is Montoya! This group could have had incredible sex appeal in it's line-up (and yes, that is important. Look at the way these women are drawn in comics. They are all 10's). But now it's "Sexy Margot and her not quite as hot friends". Even if they were going older for Montoya (and not sure why), I find it difficult to believe Rosie Perez is the most attractive and Best Latina middle aged actress they could find.

Oy vey! You had smokeshows (With acting skill) like Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Sofia Boutella, Alexandra Daddario, Vanessa Kirby up for roles....and this is the line-up you get! Robbie should remember that she herself would never have been cast for Harley Quinn, if her sex appeal was not considered off the charts. But apparently none of the other characters need to have that type of appeal (and MEW and Smollet Bell are reasonably attractive women, but Daddario and Gugu are off the scale in attractiveness and would get a big part of the audience excited. And Sofia Boutella in the mix as well...)

This whole crappy casting for this movie has been to make sure star/executive producer Margot Robbie doesn't have anyone too competitive with her in appeal (and that includes looks and sex appeal).

You cast Gugu Mbatha Raw and Alexandra Daddario on this, and trust me, the conversation with a lot of fans will start shifting to how hot they are (arguably both hotter than Robbie). Which takes a bit of shine away from Robbie, and could also happen in the movie.

Oh, an older Montoya. I like it. I'm so, so glad that they didn't go with Daddario, Lively... they seem to be casting based on actual talent rather than looks.

Still one of the best costumes in any comic book movie ever. There's nothing I dislike about it. It's that good.

BOP the comics have always managed to balance appealing to the male gaze and female readers. The visuals of BOP comicd have undoubtedly always played up the looks and sex appeal of the core members (Maybe Barbara Gordon to a lesser extent, as she plays into the cute geek girl iconography as Oracle and Batgirl. But she's not even in this).

The reason it works is the writing. You can have a cast full of 10's that appeal to the 'male gaze', but if the writing is strong and appeals to female friendships and concerns, then women will like it. It's almost lilike saying women are too insecure to watch a group of extremely attractive women on screen. I don"t fully believe that.

Look at Gal Gadot. When she was cast, people said she couldn't act and was cast for her looks. But Wonder Woman having a look that appeals to the male gaze is important. You cast a less attractive actress than Gadot as Diana and the character loses a lot of her appeal. Even for women, as Diana's beauty is aspirational. It might not be fair, but that's reality.

What made Wonder Woman appeal so strongly to female audiences despite casting a beauty queen that appealed to the so-called male gaze or conventional notions of 'hotness' in the lead, was the writing and also directing came from a female perspective with Patty Jenkins.

I don't buy this excuse that you can"t have all the BOP be as conventionally beautiful or sexy as they are generally shown in the comics. You just need strong writing/directing to make these super-hot badass hero women relatable and their friendships and dynamics feel real to women.

Daddario is a far better actress than Gal Gadot. And Gadot is arguably the best cast role in the DCEU.

Sometimes it's not about having Oscar worthy acting chops for these roles (as Gadot proves). Daddario has the right look and physicality to be an incredible superhero performer in the right part ( I saw that potential with her in the Percy Jackson movies).

Is Daddario the greatest actress around? No. But she's more than competent enough to be qualified for a role in BOP, and physically and in terms of her proven ability to handle action, she's probably more qualified than most. Gadot may have occassionally wooden delivery, but her ability to sell the physicality and action scenes as Wonder Woman is more important that her being able to go toe to toe with Meryl Streep in an acting contest.

I think Mary Elizabeth Winstead is the best looking of all the above, but... *shrug*
