I'm thinking Peyton List should star as Sue Storm.

Anyone know of a white male actor born in 1998 who's either played a likable hothead or you suspect has the range to do so?

She's only 20. A little too much of a gap.

Yeah she's too young. I would go with the other Peyton List.

Jessica Alba was 23 when filming the 2005 version, and List has the benefit of being the better actress, especially in terms of chemistry with family (can you imagine Alba as a mom if the Story series had lasted that long?). How old does Reed's actor have to be during filming? Over 40 rather than 31?

Kane: I don't know who that is.

OK, guys, here's something a bit left-field. You know that comics Reed isn't a pure nerd, but served in the US Army with Ben Grimm?
How about a 35-year-old Reed who did a tour as a junior officer between getting his degree and making himself a millionaire inventor, as played by Scott Eastwood (born March 1986)?

Scott Eastwood has all the charisma and acting ability of a plank of wood. No Eastwood please.

So who could play the character that isn't A) already in his 40s and/or B) going to come across as a 1-dimensional nerd?

Reminder to Emily Blunt partisans: she would be 38-39 when shooting the first film and in her 40s in all subsequent appearances.

I really don't get why people always keep suggesting him for casting in key roles. I've seen people cast him as Wolverine for petes sake!(though he started himself by expressing in playing the role).

The dude should never be the lead in anything. He makes Jai Courtney look like Harrison Ford.

John Kransinksi - The obvious pick can play a leader and a bit of a likable dork which Reed needs most. To be likable to the audience even when he comes across cold.

Oscar Isaac - would bring tons of charisma and could do Reed's obsessiveness towards science without losing likability

Joseph Gordon-Levitt - an unconventional pick that would bring and interesting performance

All of them could believably play a genius who may come across a bit cold and distant at times, but is still likable and would do anything for his family.

I'm really not feeling Oscar Isaac as a hero. Maybe just because the Star Wars sequels are badly written.

How young could Sue be paired with Joseph Gordon-Levitt? Him I definitely like.

Isaac would be great. Reed is a completely different character to Poe.

Sue is the middle one in terms of age. Johnny is the youngest at around Peter Parker's age, while Reed and Ben are the oldest.
Sue can't be too much older than Johnny otherwise it may look unusual and she can't be too young to be with Reed or Chris Hansen will be raising an eyebrow.

I'd say late 20s/early 30s for the actress to play Sue. By the time an FF film comes out Johnny would be collage age as Peter would likely be in collage by then. So the age gap wouldn't be too big for them and her relationship with Reed wouldn't be weird.

Also these are actors so their on-screen age does not have to reflect their real life age, which gives some leeway.

That looks more like comics Tony Stark before his face was changed to RDJ's.
Except for the ill-conceived mullet phase when he looked more like Billy Ray Cyrus with a 'stache, I always suspected Stark was supposed to a fair-skinned Latino. :oldrazz:

Real life age can be very obvious on-screen. James Bond may always be 37, but that doesn't mean Sean Connery didn't embarrass himself for a paycheck in Never Say Never Again. That's why I'm hoping Sue's actress will only be ~23 during filming, so as not to invite negative comparisons with the fresh-faced 2005 cast. Worst-case scenario, the actors for Sue and Johnny should be born in 1996 like Tom Holland (Jessica Alba and Chris Evans were the same age, with Johnny being younger in a case of Dawson's Casting - exactly like 22-year-old high schooler Tom Holland).

I think 23 is a little too young for Sue. Reed should be in his mind to late 30s and Johnny around Holland's age. So Sue should be in her late 20s-early 30s. I agree that Emily Blunt is too old but Peyton List is younger than Tom Holland..

Edgar Ramirez pls.

I'm not as familiar with his work as I'm with Isaac's but from what I've seen that could definitely work.

And to keep this post on-topic, how about Imogen Poots or Sarah Gadon for Sue?

What about Dev Patel? He'd be 5-7 years older than he was in The Man Who Knew Infinity. Reed's mother is such a non-entity in the comics that they could say he's the son of Nathaniel Richards and a Hindu woman and hardly anyone would notice.

Mackenzie Davis or Brit Marling. JGL as Mr. Fantastic, Dan Stevens as Doom.

And, not to draw too often from the Legion well but, Jemaine Clement as Galactus or Annihilus.

Dan Stevens as Doom.

Nonono. You cast a regular actor as Doom and he'll be taking his mask off constantly, like the actors who play Peter Parker.
Doom's physical presence needs to be a buff guy in a mask working for scale while he's dubbed by a great voice actor. Maybe Vin Diesel.

Evan Rachel Wood is and always will be my top choice for Sue.

He's much younger than I would go for Reed. If he was 10 years older then he'd be a great choice.
