No idea who to cast as Grimm tbh that's a tough one.

Would it be crazy to cast an actual blind woman for Alicia?

Not at all, I tried to find one but all I could see was Judi dench and I don’t think she’s right for the role.

I hope there’s someone out there who could play Alicia and it would be wonderful to give a blind actress a chance

Thank you! Lily James is my top choice for Sue at the moment.

I'd be ecstatic if we got Lily aa Sue. It'd probably rule out Oscar Isaac for Reed though. Maybe they'd get her boyfriend for Reed then?

I definitely think Lily James is too young. Sue and Reed need to be mid-to-upper-30's, in my opinion.

Maybe Reed but I think its fine for her to be at least 5 years younger than him. How old should Johnny be? Id rather she not be old enough to be his mother

Sue and Johnny will look like a traditional Aunt May to Peter Parker. :o

Sue is never meant to be in her mid 30s.

For an older cast

Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic- Joseph Gordon Levitt
Sue Storm/Invisible Woman- Alice Eve
Johnny Storm/Human Torch- Dylan O'Brien
Ben Grimm/The Thing- Alan Ritchson

She's 29 now. A Fantastic 4 movie will come out in 2022 at the earliest. She'll be around 32 when it comes out... nothing wrong with that.

Especially since Johnny should be in his 20's in that case. (Around Peter Parker's age)

Personally, I prefer Johnny as an "annoyed older brother" than a peer for Peter.

When has Sue ever been portrayed as being in her twenties? As far as I can tell, she and Reed have always been portrayed as among the older of the heroes. Their whole schtick is being mature adults and parents.

Lily James is 29 at the moment. She won't stay in her 20s by the time an FF movie comes out or the FF are even appearing in other movies.

Sue is normally portrayed as much younger than Reed. She just had to grow up quickly because it was just her and Johnny, and she had to assume the role of mother. But that didn't mean she was so much older.

Well Byrne established that Sue was like 12 when she met a Reed who was College age, that would make her 22-24 in the original run

Sue was early to mid 20's in the first books. In Marvel time (around 12 years since the FF debuted) she is around her mid 30's now. I'd say you can assume she was nearing or hit 30 when Franklin was drawn to be around 5 years old (which was quite a while...).

Reed & Ben were meant to be mid to late 30's at the beginning.

If anything Peter usually takes on the "annoyed older brother" role, not Johnny. Johnny is that friend that gets him into trouble, but is always fun and Peter plays the mature role in the dynamic most of the time. Johnny is never the mature one when they are together even when Peter acts just as immature.

Ben is the annoyed and cranky older brother/uncle.

They are meant to be at most a year apart in age and making Johnny so much older ruins their dynamic. Part of what makes them so close is that they relate a lot to each other and an aspect of that is that they are superheroes around the same age. Plus making Johnny too old loses the "kid brother" aspect of the FF and he would just come across as a giant man-child.

Sue at the beginning of the FF was around her early twenties, she's not even hit her 40s yet in the comics. Her seniority comes from the experience of being apart of the first superhero team, not being older than everyone else.

The films should have her from late 20s to mid 30s and Johnny should be early to mid 20s.

Reed and Ben should be mid to late 30s (early 40s at max).

Reed and Ben late 30s
Johnny about 22-23
Sue about 29, about to hit 30

That's the range I think works.

Margot Robbie would make a killer Sue imo. She was up for the part originally when they were casting for Fan4stic(she dodged a bullet).

I get she’s already Harley Quinn in the DC neighborhood but hey Josh Brolin was/is both Thanos and Cable in Marvel and Fox Marvel(before they joined the MCU) in the same year. She’ll have her hands full just playing Harley but I still think she would make a fine Sue.

That would be nuts if she jumped ship and joined the mcu.

mid-30s sue, because i would like a reed in his late 30s/early 40s, pretty close to what stark was at the start of all of this. the age gap doesn't have to be as big as it is in the comics (although i find that interesting), but it should be there

james is 29 but looks younger, which i think would just lead them to having a younger reed as well. i wish they would be well-established scientists in their fields before the accident happens

Blunt will be too old by the time they film and she is not a good fit imo. Lily James or Allison Williams for me

Or another cast I would go with:

Reed Richards/Mr. Fantastic- Eddie Redmayne
Ben Grimm/The Thing- Garrett Hedlund
Sue Storm/Invisible Woman- Blake Lively
Johnny Storm/Human Torch- Dacre Montgomery
Victor Von Doom/Doctor Doom- Rupert Friend

Exactly, it could add an interesting layer to what's often an extraneous character (the Story films didn't know what to do with her beyond Ben's Girlfriend.) It could be something very special.

And the actress doesn't have to be 100% visually impaired, kinda like RJ Mitte's CP isn't as severe as Walt Jr's on Breaking Bad, but his lived experience adds a degree of authenticity to the role.

I love the idea of a blind actress playing Alicia. I'd screen-test both blind and sighted actresses, but if a blind one can pull it off (and let's be honest, it's not the most challenging role), that would be cool.

But there's a reason that the age gap is never mentioned anymore. Same reason I guarantee it won't be used in the movie. Because Byrne's backstory is really REALLY freaking creepy.

I like this. Mostly because I really want Oscar Isaac for Reed.

Lily James is 10 years younger than Isaac, which really isn't too bad but if Isaac gets it, I'd like someone a few years older than she is.
