Old MCU Fantastic Four Discussion Thread

Johnny's age is a good point. Will Feige want to do the Peter/Johnny bromance in the MCU? If yes, Johnny will probably be whatever age Peter is when the rights revert. It might slightly affect the ages of the other FF too, since I can't imagine them not casting a Reed/Sue/Ben that are at least a tiny bit older than Johnny.

I hope Feige is up for the bromance. Throw in a young Bobby Drake too.

The bromance is an absolute must in the MCU. Not only does it connect Johnny and the F4 to the wider MCU but it also differentiates MCU Johnny from the past versions and establishes an immediate indication to the GA, they are part of the MCU & Spidey/Human Torch is one of the most frequent team ups in the MCU.

Wouldn't it be awesome to have Spider-Man show up in the first MCU Fantastic Four movie to establish their relationship with him.

And Bobby/Johnny/Peter in the MCU is something I need In my life, like right now. :woot:

That would be awesome. Especially since all three have powers that match their personalities. You could make a whole movie on that (technically you can on the FF too but those three have more in common personality-wise).

I hope they go for a more comic accurate starting age for Johnny.

It's one thing for a teenager or someone at least under the age of 21 to be flippant, capricious and not always think through his actions... It's another thing to do what they did in the story films with Evans and have a grown man, and one that's supposed to be an astronaut at that, act that way.

Make Johnny an honest to god teenager I say.

How about Clint Eastwood for Johnny? :o

That would also answer the question of whether we really need an older Johnny.

Imagine having a republican Johnny storm that talks to empty chairs :lmao:

It’s a shame Brenton Thwaites is over at dc because he would make a fun Johnny

This.

Does anyone know any teenage actors tho?

What even is a teenager idk

And no-one like MBJ either. He looked the oldest out of the Fant4stic cast when he should've been the youngest. Getting him to play Johnny when he's playing an adult role like Creed is like having Andrew Garfield as a teenager after he played an adult entrepreneur in The Social Network.

Charlie Plummer mentioned above, Charlie Rowe, Collin Ford, Timothee Chalamet, Dacre Montgomery etc a lot of young actors out in Hollywood around Holland's age that are suitable to play a teenage Johnny Storm

Blunt doesn't want in on CBMs at the moment while Krasinski seems eager to work with Marvel again. I wonder how that will work out. It bodes well for me since I don't want Blunt to play Sue while I think Krasinski would be great

Is that what they've said? I always thought Blunt was up for this stuff. Maybe she would just have preferred Widow.

I would really love if the post Phase 3 MCU could combine things like this. So outside of a traditional F4 series you can also have Johnny Storm appearing alongside Spider-man and Iceman on something else, with the same possibilities for other F4 members.

Hmm. Dacre is the most interesting from that list. He can play a charming jock.

Timothee I’m still hoping will play Nightmare

I'd rather see Spider-Man and his Amazing Friends with Firestar in place of Johnny than going almost there with Spidey and Iceman but excluding Angelica.

If they were willing to use Firestar then that would be ideal. Could always have Spidey, Iceman and Storm get together in other ways.

Timothee Chalamet would probably be the most interesting choice for Johnny

You reckon? I think he might be too close to emo for Johnny. He’s more tortured youth

Definitely don't want Timothee Chalomet as Johnny. I didn't even want him for Peter. He's a bit too angry and angst-ridden and has that *****ebag look.

I'd rather we had something like a younger version of Chris Evans from the Story movies. Someone who has a more relaxed and optimistic look. Johnny should be full of wonder, especially if he's more like the young teenager who stowed away on the space mission.

Chalomet seems more like he wouldn't have even wanted to be there in the first place, and then would have more angst than Ben Grimm once he transformed, because now he'd think his life would be over with these powers. He might've worked in Trank's "dark and gritty" version of the FF, but not for an MCU version.

My shortlist for Reed Richards:

1- John Krasinski
2- Jake Gyllenhaal
3- Joseph Gordon Levitt
4- Andrew Lincoln
5- Alex O'Loughlin
6- Zachary Quinto
7- Billy Crudup
8- Casey Affleck
9- Ewan McGregor
10- Jonathan Rhys Meyers

Alex O'Loughlin doesn't come across as anywhere near intelligent enough for Reed Richards. His Steve McGarrett character in Hawaii Five-0 is more of a soldier than a scientist. Even the way he speaks (his faked American accent) doesn't give him the sound of someone super intelligent.

Sort of an uninspired choice though, getting the Doctor to play Reed Richards. Not saying it is bad, but a bit unoriginal.

I disagree about Chalamet's look. It wouldn't have worked at all for Peter Parker but I think it works really well for Johnny, the latter of whom is suppose to have a bit of "bad boy" edge. Chalamet looking smug fits the character.

As for his acting, I won't disagree with you there. So far, every role I've seen him, he played depressed, sad quiet characters. So I'm not sure if he could do Johnny but his real life personality is much more lively, I guess?

To be fair, Smith has been a fan favorite for a long time

He seems like he would be a complete nerdy portrayal. Ioan Gruffudd was sometimes criticised for making the character too like that. Smith would be an even more extreme version of that.

I want the right balance between a man of action/ adventurer like Doc Savage/Indiana Jones, and a scientist. Smith doesn't seem like he could portray the Indiana Jones type of adventurer convincingly.

I'd prefer someone like John Krasinksi to Matt Smith.
