John Cena is a very funny actor. Don't think he'd be good as The Thing, but he's talented.
Fancasting John Cena as Ben Grimm reminds me of when some fans were fancasting Rhonda Rhousey for Captain Marvel(ugh); which was always more because of her physique and less so for her acting chops(which are non-existent).
Rhonda Rousey was been bandied around for everything. Even she did it herself. She wanted to be Wonder Woman just because she was a fighter. She would've been an absolutely terrible choice. She should never go near a comic book movie unless she's just a near-silent henchwoman type like Gina Carano was in Deadpool.
Can only imagine how bad that could have been lol.
For a character like Ben, a wrestler can work as long as they have comedic timing. Sort of like Batista works for Drax. That said, Cena is a charming guy and is actually funny. I would worry he couldn't do the sadder elements of The Thing properly (not sure he has "This man, this MONSTER!" in him), but he would be good for the banter and all that. I can see him doing a bang up job in that regard.
This is a good point, you can't really ask Cena to chew scenery showing his pain, you'd have to do a lot of that aspect of his pathos/story with direction and lighting and camera work and score and such. Not the worst idea, imho.
She also campaigned to be Captain Marvel if I'm not mistaken.Rhonda Rousey was been bandied around for everything. Even she did it herself. She wanted to be Wonder Woman just because she was a fighter. She would've been an absolutely terrible choice.

Get John Cena as someone like Sandman or Hydroman. Not Ben Grimm.

I, uh, just pictured Cena as Gaimans Sandman...
... though on the subject of Medusa, my hope is that the Inhumans TV show will soon be forgotten and they can re-introduce them properly in an FF film at some point.
Sometimes I'm glad that Marvel doesn't listen to fan casting....

Ive often wondered that. How long does something have to lie dormant before you can do a soft reboot and slide the character back into the world, hopefully better?
I definitely would love to see new versions of Amadeus, madame masque and even iron fist
