Mary Sue? Seriously? People overuse that word to the point where it makes no sense.

I was quite specific: "a walking character derailment field."
A Reed and Sue who Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly treat like the mom and dad of all superheroes? That's character derailment. That's waltzing in and warping the universe to take things you never earned.

The 2005 films were trash and treated the FF like they were a sitcom. Jessica Alba was absolutely terrible and her age was one of the factors for her being miscast.

Hardly. How old do you think 616 Sue Storm was when she got her powers? Her brother Johnny "had just turned 16" according to Stan Lee. Any age gap larger than 7 years is improbable if they have the same biological parents and there are no middle siblings.
If anything, Chris Evans was too old for his role and they should have found a talented 18-year-old.

Ultimate FF is also notable for hooking Ben up with Sue(ugh). Aside from Ultimate Spider-Man, the first few issues of Ultimate X-Men and start of the Ultimates. The Ultimate line was awful. I still have horrible memories of when they had Wanda & Pietro have incestuous sex for no reason at all other than for the shock value.

If anything, Chris Evans was too old for his role and they should have found a talented 18-year-old.

Johnny should be the only ‘kid’ of the group while all the others are adults. Johnny Storm is Peter Parker’s age. Making them all so close in age to each other sort of changes the family dynamic between them. It was very jarring in both the Story & Trank films that they were peers when they really shouldn’t be. Granted, the Ultimates is the precedent but that mostly sucked(still much better than the films we’ve gotten so far though).

Yes, but the point is that with Dawson's Casting like that, Sue's actress was correctly the same age, since she was no older than 23 when she got her powers.
Here's the coming status quo we'll be looking at as of Spider-Man: Far From Home:

Iron Man: Dead, or retired with a wife and child
Steve Rogers: Dead or gone
Thor: 1500, possibly gone
Bruce Banner: actor born 1967
Hawkeye: actor born 1971, married with civilian wife and children
Ant-Man and Wasp II: actors born 1969 and 1979, possibly married, Ant-Man has 11-year-old daughter.
Bucky Barnes - Captain America II? 100
Dr Strange: actor born 1976, single
Black Panther: actor born 1977, has a sacred duty to be married
Falcon: actor born 1978
Elizabeth Olsen: 29-playing-19
Spider-Man: a 22-year-old high school junior

There's no way Reed Richards can waltz into this cast and be considered the dad of all superheroes unless his actor was born in 1967 or earlier. And at that rate, a socially-acceptable Sue would too old to realistically give birth to two children in two different sequels.

I’m prefer a Modern Fantastic Four film post-Avengers 4 over a 60’s period piece.

Fantastic Four being the first family of Marvel carries little value outside of nostalgia. It’s like saying a Superman movie has to be set in the 30’s depression era just because he was conceived as the original superhero back in the 30’s. Fantastic Four can easily work as something that’s new after there’s been established superheroes like Thor, Captain America, and Iron Man.

Yeah. Peyton List is still playing teenagers and looks it. She is way too young for Sue.
