I remember when people were wanting an autistic Peter Parker for Homecoming.

Never saw Peter as autistic, while Reed has been read that way by people and it has been confirmed in a couple (non canon) books.

Autism or not, that’s still no excuse for his behavior, especially during Civil War.

Never said that it was. Him being autistic just explains how he finds people difficult to understand and how they are feeling. It doesn't explain or excuse the choices he made in that crappy event.

Also, I personally ignore Civil War as it was an event that made Reed out of character. It changed him to suit the needs of the story. Years earlier in a FF book the government proposed superhero registration. The FF went out of their way to contact the government about how much it was a bad idea. That's how badly Civil War wrote him, he is against registration but they changed the character to fit the narrative they wanted.

I hate Civil War and what it did to Reed's character.

In my opinion a good portrayal of Reed is very similar to Doom. It's part of what makes him an interesting and complex character. It's why I'm not the biggest fan of the Krasinksi fan cast. Reed sometimes makes decisions that lack empathy and are based in cold hard science and in his opinion are necessary. I don't see a Kransinski Reed pulling that off. But I can see Isaac being able to do it while remaining relatively likable.

Reed is the type of person that would put his dangerously powerful son in coma to protect him from himself and others. He hated himself for doing it and it nearly ended with Sue divorcing him, but he believed that it needed to be done. That's the type of man Reed is and I can't see a Krasinski's version of Reed ever making that decision. Isaac on the other hand could easily pull off such a complex character.

I remember someone saying that to Reed Richards everyone is like a toddler and how frustrating it must be. Plus I think that Reed may be on the autistic spectrum.
Matt Smith could do that

Pardon me. I never meant to imply you’re the one excusing him. I’m just anticipating the next person who doesn’t know how autism works and say “oh, THAT’S why!”. I’ve spent my time with autistic kids. It’s not that they find it difficult to understand; it’s more about them feeling like they don’t belong.

For reals? Why?

They saw Asa Butterfield's performance in X+Y, wanted him for Peter Parker, and thought that his performance in that film would be the correct template for how Peter should be.

It's not just about being a TV star. It's that EBR is a bad actress.

And that's a joke about Lily James being too young when she's 29 and EBR is 27. By that same token EBR seems a bit young to play Sue too.

I might have been wrong about James age, but she's just not an exciting choice. EBR, Evan Rachel Wood, Blake Lively and Kristen Bell all have superhero/syfy cred.

Marvel will never admit to Reed being autistic. but that theory was before Civil War anyway.

Making Reed autistic would be a Kinbergesque “wouldn’t this be a cool thing to do?” move.

Changing things up a bit. I want the soundtrack be great unique, taking inspiration from classic sci-fi. The soundtrack is really important in creating the atmosphere you want in a film and an FF film should be full on sci-fi adventure. The game Mass Effect 1 had an amazing soundtrack that screamed sci-fi and space exploration in it's own unique yet familiar way. An FF film needs to have a soundtrack like that, and when you randomly hear it you instantly think of the Fantastic Four.

Please don't insult me. It's concept that's been played around and thought about in the comics, not something pulled out of thin air. It wouldn't be something that has to be mentioned outright in the film, it's just one of the many aspects an actor can add to their portrayal in subtle ways.

so whats the soonest you think well get the MCU F4 movie? Im thinking Disney will want to see results of their 71 billion dollar investment pretty quickly. if the deal closes by June i.e first half of 2019 would late 2020 be doable or out of the question?

For a good film, late 2021/early 2022 at the earliest. Film development takes time plus making it fit in a shared universe takes longer.

Why would you feel insulted because those comic writers had bad ideas?

Reed has not demonstrated characteristics of autism in any meaningful way over the past 50+ years.

Autism is much more complex than simple social awkwardness, and there are specific, clearly defined characteristics of autism that Reed has never demonstrated.

Reed's "social awkwardness" is not because of an inability to understand other people. He's the smartest person in the universe. He understands other people, but he doesn't have the patience or interest in their feelings when there are bigger things to deal with.

Because I brought up the topic and I thought you were comparing me to
"shudder" .......Kinberg.

:funny: I'm sorry and my intention wasn't to insult you.

I don't like the idea, but we're here to discuss things like this and I certainly don't want you to feel you can't discuss any topic freely.

But if I don't like something, I'll say I don't like it.

That's 100% fine everyone won't agree on everything. I actually like the different viewpoints on things, they lead to new things I never would've thought of.

well Homecoming had a pretty quick turn around. The deal was made in Feb 2015 and spidey was in theaters by July 2017.So about 2 and a half years. And just over a year if you consider his civil war cameo. So I wouldnt rule out Reed or Johnny appearing in a 2020 MCU movie prior to the F4 movie.

You should've called him Crimzberg instead. :o

That is a completely different scenario. Spider-Man is basically rented out to the MCU and Sony wanted that film out quickly. Also, Spider-Man's popularity completely eclipses the FF's and he doesn't have the tainted film history they do. Marvel can sit on the FF for as long as they like when the deal is done, nothing is pressuring them to fast track it.

So I stand by late 2021/early 2022 being the earliest they would release a FF film.

What about a civil war style cameo for Reed or Johnny in another mcu movie prior to the standalone movie just to gauge the reaction?
