Saw the movie today and thought it was awesome! It was very,
very Die Hard-ish and Gerard Butler kicked all kinds of ass! Dang this movie made me like him more than I already did. He came off as appropriately cocky/smug yet not totally fearless. Really liked him in this, there was just something about him in this role that made him really compelling to watch in every scene. I think his smugness really worked in this movie and outdid Bruce Willis' John McClane in that aspect.
And holy crap the body count was off the charts in this. Way more dead bodies than I can recall seeing in any recent movie. It was almost absurd in a good kind of way.
I'd love to see more movies where Gerard Butler kicks ass. He's my new favorite action hero!
The Korean villain actor seemed really familiar but I couldn't place where I've seen him. I thought it was a great villain performance by him, he played an awesome psycho. There was also a Korean actress that played the part of a computer operator who I thought was hot.
CGI was noticeable to me too at times but it was nothing that was too bad.
Definitely recommend the movie, it was all kinds of awesome. It was pretty much over-the-top action inside the White House, with so many awesome action scenes. The awesomeness started when the NKs started infiltrating the front yard - holy crap that was insane!
I was also pleasantly surprised to see Radha Mitchell in the movie playing a small part as his wife. Have liked her ever since Pitch Black.
If I had a complaint with the movie, it's that Aaron Eckhart seemed too young for a role as the President. I could've bought him as the VP maybe, but not the President. I guess I'm just used to too many gray-haired Presidents.
