Glad to hear this is turning out decent. Sucks about the cgi, it's not always critical but I hate when they cheap out on it. Especially for mechanical stuff like helicopters, there just isn't an excuse. I get that living creatures are near impossible to do photo-realistically even for the big boys but for **** like choppers and explosions it's nigh unforgivable.

It's more a problem with the studio that produced Olympus Has Fallen, Nu Millennium, rather than the rushed production schedule and budget. They tend to use the same f/x studios for all their productions -- Expendables 2, Conan, Texas Chainsaw... the list goes on.

I think IGN said it best, this is the best Die Hard movie of the year.

That might be the best way to describe it . The CGI was a bit noticeable , but overall the story , acting and action make up for it. This is a throwback to the Die Hard type of films and well executed. I enjoyed it. Also there is massive carnage in this movie. mah gawd! There's also the campy patriotism which some people might not like. I read one reviewer thought the movie was tasteless because the crumbling monument is reminiscent of 9/11. I disagree that anything in this film should be considered disrespectful.

Saw the movie today and thought it was awesome! It was very, very Die Hard-ish and Gerard Butler kicked all kinds of ass! Dang this movie made me like him more than I already did. He came off as appropriately cocky/smug yet not totally fearless. Really liked him in this, there was just something about him in this role that made him really compelling to watch in every scene. I think his smugness really worked in this movie and outdid Bruce Willis' John McClane in that aspect.

And holy crap the body count was off the charts in this. Way more dead bodies than I can recall seeing in any recent movie. It was almost absurd in a good kind of way.

I'd love to see more movies where Gerard Butler kicks ass. He's my new favorite action hero! :)

The Korean villain actor seemed really familiar but I couldn't place where I've seen him. I thought it was a great villain performance by him, he played an awesome psycho. There was also a Korean actress that played the part of a computer operator who I thought was hot. ;)

CGI was noticeable to me too at times but it was nothing that was too bad.

Definitely recommend the movie, it was all kinds of awesome. It was pretty much over-the-top action inside the White House, with so many awesome action scenes. The awesomeness started when the NKs started infiltrating the front yard - holy crap that was insane!

I was also pleasantly surprised to see Radha Mitchell in the movie playing a small part as his wife. Have liked her ever since Pitch Black.

If I had a complaint with the movie, it's that Aaron Eckhart seemed too young for a role as the President. I could've bought him as the VP maybe, but not the President. I guess I'm just used to too many gray-haired Presidents.

Isn't the Korean guy the dude from the first "The Fast & The Furious"?

Yes also the villain in Die Another Day.

And yes this is basically the Die Hard sequel we wanted since Die Hard 3.

If anyone needs time to kill or interested, here's my review.

Definitely had fun with this...doesn't mean it was a great movie. Entertaining for sure!

Sounds like White House Down is going to have a tough time marketing itself as something different. I wouldn't be surprised it gets pushed back to fall in order for Olympus to be forgotten about.

I definitely enjoyed it. I honestly didn't expect it to be as bloody as it turned out. The bodycount was pretty over the top. Gerard Butler needs to stick with action.

Butler for Expendables 3?

Ill be seeing this tonight...like what I've been hearing.

The movie changed its name to White House Taken.

Here's a teaser-poster.

lol thats hilarious

Just got back. I doubt White House Down will be able to beat this. I'd rank this over Air Force One (and as my first rated R movie, that hit high on my list). I'd also say it's better than Die Hard 4 and I enjoyed that film as well.

My thoughts throughout... lots of dead bodies... holy s&%$ this just got dark... this is more than just an action movie - it's that and a psychological thriller... now I know what seeing Die Hard 1 in theaters might have kinda been like.

8/10

Cinescore of A- and you can tell why. They really pushed for this film to be dark and real and it comes off. I have a feeling this will be the white house siege movie to topple all others. And I think White House Down might not do as well as box office because I don't know how this can be topped.

Rotten Tomatoes

Critics: 51%, average score 5.5/10
Audience: 79%, average score 4/5

Conclusion: Normal humans like it, snooty critics do not. Big surprise there.

The patriotism was so over the top. :barf:

Other than that and the CGI, the film delivers on grand entertainment levels. The acting was surprisingly great. I'm not indicating the cast was a lackluster group because this film featured A-list actors. In all honesty, I was expecting a half-assed attempt from Freeman, Eckhart, Bassett and Butler, but suffice to say they were fantastic.

8/10

Saw this earlier and loved it. Probably give it an 8/10 for now, maybe even a 9/10. It felt like an old-school Die Hard movie, with tons of action and suspense, and solid performances from all.

Saw it. LOVED it.

Though yeah, the "rah-rah USA!!" was laid on pretty thick. Lol.

Wait...so a movie about an attack on the White House has patriotic themes? my god, I did not see that coming :wow: :o

anyway... I loved the movie. Just like what others has said, it's the best Die Hard movie this year.

I think we're just so used to **** being our fault that patriotism is antiquated. :oldrazz:
