I didn't mind. Getting sick and tired of movies that are scared to death of being patriotic. It was stupid enough that Captain America had a pointless subtitle it didn't need.

Also, Fuqua's an Obama supporter and a raging liberal. So its not like he's some Neo-Con type.

Well, for me, there's very little pride to be had with humanity much less the country I reside in. So I will never grasp the concept of patriotism. As for others, America has a reputation of being trigger-happy overweight dolts. Not surprising people are ashamed and/or afraid of being patriotic. This is a country that has more money invested in our prisons than in our educational system.

Geez lighten up. America is awesome. Deal with it

Utopias are Utopias because the perfect world, perfect society, doesn't exist.

people, get over it

I was just sent the 'White House Down' script online. I'll be able to know and report on how they compare when I read it over on Wednesday.

That's your right as an American, free speech and all that. But that being said, that sounds like a depressing way to go through life.

Also I think generalizing all Americans as trigger-happy overweight dolts is pretty mean and generic.

Just for one thing, being overweight doesn't automatically make you a bad person either. Or a dolt. Or unedecuated. Or trigger-happy. Just because we don't like certain things about the country doesn't mean we can't embrace the good things about it and aspire and want it to be better. To me Olympus Has Fallen expresses that.

I think with that 'A' Cinemascore going for it, I think OHF should hold decently when G.I. Joe: Retaliation comes out next weekend. Maybe a 3x multiplier? That's a pretty good number for FilmDistrict and Gerald Butler's career, IMO...

Fuqua's Shooter is one the most Anti-Bush left wing action movies out there, but still a very patriotic film.

There's a meme that needs to die violently. It almost managed to be clever once.

Yes

I'm proud to be an American. There are several things going with this country I don't agree with, but we're still a democracy. I don't care about a narrow minded reputation or degenerates who think that term is appropriate.

Yes, Fuqua is a bleeding heart anti-conservative liberal. So his patriotism shouldn't offend you ;) .

Strong $30M opening, glad to see most of you guys seemed to have dug it, not sure of the UK release date yet.I didn't realize Nu Image were involved, that explains the crappy CGI aerial vehicles.

Very underrated as well IMO.

seen it, loved it! Did noticed too this was a die hard version 2, but didnt care..loved that it was dark and gritty! And i agree G.Butler should stick to action, almost took me back to 300 all over again.

I hear on that one. America is like the, and I hate to even go this route, middle class white guy of the world. It's ok to poke fun at him but he better not do it to anyone else or attempt to be proud of his existence.

Boom. Roasted.

This movie kind of exemplifies what he said at the end though. This movie was made for a 90's audience and a group of people who are old enough to remember the greatness of America. What he is saying is he is dissapointed at what America has become and you can see he knows it's still Great just not the greatest anymore. This movie showed pride in the flag and the office of President that current generations are missing all the while showing us what a hero used to be like in America. You see in the movie he does his job, changes are made to his job and he still goes to work because that is what Americans did back in the day, Jeff Daniels character in that clip I think would like this movie at its core. Not trying to get into a Huge argument but that's how I see this.

I don't say much in reality unless I choose to. I'm anti-social but free speech isn't a privilege, it's a right as a sentient being.

I view myself as a realist. If that's depressing then so be it. We, as humans, criticize our predecessors and ancestors for being 'primitive' yet here we are. Decades from now, our grandchildren will label us apes for what we've done (or haven't).

Also I think generalizing all Americans as trigger-happy overweight dolts is pretty mean and generic.

That's the perception of America though. We rank below third-world countries in several academic fields and we only continue to drop in the rankings (with our government seeking to cut more funding from our schools). We're also the fattest nation in the world and The States has an awful reputation with our foreign policy.

It may be generic, but it's accurate.

Considering the circumstances, it's not about being a horrible person but ignorance, laziness, and/or arrogance does hinder potential.

There are aspects to this country and world that I do embrace. I'm not a total nihilist. I don't despise humanity or America, but I'm not prideful to be apart of a specie or society that continues to be self-destructive.

I will be honest, the movie may have been better than Die Hard 5, but it felt like a really cheesy B-version of Die Hard. Same twists, same smoking with the bad guy, same conversations over the phone with the big bad, etc. It also felt cheap at times (especially the CGI).

The action was fun, but I thought it could have been executed in a way that was fun without being silly or stupid. At times, that is what this movie was.

Perception is not necessarily truth Doomsday. And that doesn't mean it is real either.
