Well, by most I meant the type of Christians who listen to Amy Grant. :o
And what, pray tell, do you have against Amy Grant? I personally believe she's one of the most talented musicians around, Christian or otherwise. I grew up listening to many of her songs, and she remains a favorite of mine to this day. Her ways of mixing contemporary styles with Godly lyrics just works on so many levels.

How do they work on "so many levels" when her lyrics are so overtly preachy? Besides, she's nothing special in regards to her singing, her musical ability, and she barely wrote her own songs. Amy Grant sucks.

Lets go back to talking about Pet Sounds, or better yet Highway 61 Revisited. Or Sgt. Peppers.

Antichrist Superstar by Marilyn Manson is a pretty decent album, too.

Well, sort of. I really only like the title. And that one song, "Beautiful People."

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.

.....Are you hating on Justified?
I have the "Justified" CD myself. Some of the tracks work ("Like I love You", "Senorita", "Cry Me a River"), but most really don't in my opinion. I saw his solo performance at the VMAs a few years ago, and it seemed like he was trying too hard to replicate other artists (Michael Jackson being a noted example). As for his second album, I've deliberately avoided it; I have no interest in hearing an entire CD about sexual conquest and such. I barely even listen to "Justified" anymore, anyways.

Actually it is. Manson's music is way better than it gets credit for.

I would say "Antichrist" and "Holywood" are great albums. His other stuff does nothing for me.
His recent stuff is pretty bad, but those two albums like you said were great. Twiggy Ramirez and John 5 are both awesome guitarists so that helped too.

Some people love God so deeply that it influences everything they do, and they're not worried about breaking down some walls in the process. Amy is one of those people who's done so responsibly, not arrogantly...and her career has flourished for the better.

Well, she didn't really write the lyrics anyway. But I take what I said, preachy lyrics can be good sometimes.

But Amy Grant still sucks. Hard.

By the by, just for the sake of being Christian-friendly and actually contributing to this thread...

Let me tell you, there was a point where I'd wake up every morning to my mom playing "Open My Heart."

You'd probably like "Losing My Way," though.

But Justin Timberlake is sexy...

Eh, if I was gay or a chick I probably wouldn't find him that attractive to be honest. :o

I'll never in all my days figure out why gay men and straight girls are attracted to effeminate guys. It's like... just switch to women.

One of the best albums of the 90's without question:

I still think she looks like Meg Ryan...

I'm with Sarge, we need more talk about Pet Sounds and how it's possibly (and definitly, in my opinion) the best album ever recorded.

The beatles and the beach boys influenced each others releases so much around that time it's not even funny. It's a shame I can't get into the beatles though.

I think it's safe to say that no artist mentioned in this thread approaches Brian Wilson's level of genius aside from Lennon and McCartney. Brian Wilson exists on his own planet as far as musical genius goes, and I'm consistently amazed by Pet Sounds and SMiLE.

I don't own any CDs although I still have an enormous amount of music (how? take a wild guess), but I would like to eventually own Dark Side of the Moon on CD.

Buy CD's! Do you realize how much money artists lose when people don't buy their CDs? We're talking about the difference between the yearly incomes of a Target store supervisor and a part-time McDonalds worker. That's thousands (but not tens of thousands) of dollars. Do you know what artists have to do to make up for those losses? A single TV commercial or an additional city on their tours. Don't make artists go through that. Buy the CDs.

Hell with buying CDs. Buy legally online and back them up... physical copies of media is going to go away eventually anyway, might as well get used to it.
