Screen Name: Andy C.
Character you would like to play and a brief description of his/her powers and Bio: General Zod
(
NOTE: Depending on what's been going on in the RPG, some parts of the bio may conflict with the in-game story. Feel free to point any conflicts out so I can correct it)
Many years ago, Dru-Zod was the driving force of Krypton's armed forces, a forceful and charismatic commander who led the Kryptonian military to victory time and time again over adversaries both alien and domestic. However, his tactical brilliance and domineering presence were matched only by his paranoia for the "inferior" alien races, and his contempt for the Kryptonian Council for negotiating peace with the aliens rather than allowing him to use force.
Zod preached his radical agenda to his soldiers, many of whom took to his message with an almost fanatical devotion. A rift began to form in the Kryptonian military between Zod's followers, and those who remained loyal to the Council. When Zod ordered that all of the alien citizens be forced to live in the ghetto city of Kandor, violence erupted, and Zod's faction saw the opportunity to stage a military coup and declare martial law.
However, the coup failed, and Dru-Zod was brought before the Council to stand trial. He was unanimously found guilty, though many of Zod's faction threatened civil war if their leader were executed. The solution presented by Jor-El was for Zod to be exiled to the Phantom Zone, an alternate dimension in which inmates could observe the regular world clearly and be affected by it, but could not directly affect the regular world in return. This way, Zod would still exist, but only in a corporeal form.
Jor-El's device that held Zod captive in the alternate dimension could only do so for a limited amount of time, however, so it was decided that the device be launched into deep space, disguised as a scientific probe to keep Zod's followers from going after it.
When Krypton was destroyed, the ship carrying Kal-El broadcasted a distress beacon containing the coordinates of the ship and its destination. The signal's waves traveled for years through empty space until being intercepted by the probe carrying the Phantom Zone portal. An unfortunate oversight on the Council's part was that a Kryptonian ship's computers would re-route it to respond to distress signals. The probe recalibrated its systems and set a course for the Sol system.
When Kal-El's ship landed on Earth, it stopped transmitting the distress signal. Therefore, when the probe carrying the portal entered the Solar system, it could not determine the planet where Kal-El's ship had landed. Instead, it set itself in an orbit around the sun, where solar radiation filtered through the Phantom Zone portal for years and years.
Zod has been growing more powerful in his prison...and the portal device cannot hold him much longer...
Three reasons why you have chosen that character:
1. I've always thought that all the various incarnations of Zod were fairly interesting, particularly the Silver Age version which seemed to contain influences of Nazism rather than the generic evil-tyrant archetype.
2. Not a whole lot of supervillains would have such a deep-rooted vendetta against Superman (because of Jor-El), and Zod is one of the few that could go toe-to-toe with Big Blue in a fight.
3. A villain with so many different origins and backstories and alternate versions of himself can open up a lot of opportunities to flex my creative muscle.
What can you bring to this game?
I've had lots of experience with forum-based RPGs (though this is my first one involving superheroes), I have nearly impeccable spelling and grammar (so you'll never have to worry about my posts being hard to read), and can make for quite the creative story-teller.
How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG:
At least once or twice if it's a slow day. As many times as it takes if there's a battle going on.
Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards:
