And, on that note...
Screen Name: Johnny Blaze
Character you would like to play: Superman
Powers: The Man of Steel's body is able to process the radiation of the yellow sun, giving him a host of powers.
Superman is a powerhouse, that has strength enough to battle the likes of Thor and the Hulk on even terms, speed at near Flash levels, durability off the charts; the power of flight; enhanced vision (x-ray, heat, binocular, microscopic); senses enhanced to superhuman levels; arctic breath capable of dropping the temperature to absolute zero levels; the rays of a yellow sun can revitalize superman, as well as increase his powers.
Although a being of near god-like power, Superman is not without his weaknesses. Kryptonite, the emerald green, radioactive pieces of his homeworld weaken him when in close proximity, and increased exposure as well as ingestion can be fatal. Magic is a fickle thing, often defying and outright breaking the laws of reality. As such, magic seems to bypass Superman's natural durability and imperviousness, making him practically human in that regard. The radiation of a red sun strips Superman of his powers, making him like nothing more than a normal man.
Brief biography of the character's history: Born on the planet, Krypton, to Jor-El and Lara, he was just a young baby when his father sent him off into space to live. For, you see, Krypton was dying. The planet would soon be nothing but debris and spacedust, and the Kryptonian scientist sent his only son away to save him from this gruesome fate. And as Kal-El's ship rocketed out into the stars, his homeworld died. Exploding into billions upon billions of fragments, the wake of Krypton's passing echoed through the tiny ship as it sailed The Black.
Eventually coming to a small, blue world called Earth, Kal-El's ship crashed in the cornfield of a Mr. Jonathan and a Mrs. Martha Kent. The couple were shocked at what they saw, and even more surprised to find a baby inside. Doing the only thing that seemed right, they hid the small craft away in the barn, and raised the young Kal-El as their son, calling him Clark.
Clark spent many years in the Kansas town of Smallville, living and working out on the farm with his family and going to school. When he attended Smallville High, Clark quickly stood out above the rest in both the classroom and football field. The well-mannered Kent seemed to be the talk of the town. But, soon Clark's world took a turn to the bizarre as his powers began to manifest themselves. Over the years he secretly began to hone them, practicing out in the woods or the rolling fields where nobody would be around.
Eventually he confronted his parents about it, and the truth came out. Clark learned about how they found him, and, through a series of Kryptonian crystals, learned about who he really was and his homeworld's history.
Afterward, Clark vowed to use these powers of his for the benefit of all humanity. With the help of his mother, Martha Kent, Clark made a costume. And, with the help of his father, Jonathan, he was able to come up with a simple, yet clever, disguise. Eventually getting a job at the Daily Planet, a major newspaper in the supercity of Metropolis, Clark began moonlighting as the costumed hero the public dubbed Superman.
As Superman, Clark has routinely saved Metropolis, and the world, from danger and certain destruction. He has battled many foes, from the Hulk to Magneto, and is one of the founding members of the superhero team called the Justice League.
As Clark Kent, Superman has become one of the East Coast's most accomplished reporters, having won many awards and accolades. Along with his friend, colleague, and sometimes rival reporter, Lois Lane, and his best pal and amazing camera man, Jimmy Olsen, Clark has made many significant strides to expose corruption and criminals all throughout Metropolis.
Currently outside of Los Angelas, Superman is weary after his battle with the Devil Hulk, and is about to head back home to Metropolis to get ready for his date with Lois...
List a few reasons why you have chosen that character: I like Superman, and how can I pass up on the opportunity to play such an iconic hero. Speaking of heroes, most of the ones that I play have a bit of a gray area to them (so I'm told
), so I think playing the ultimate hero can be for an extremely fun challenge.
What can you bring to this game?: My lovable self, and many years of RPing experience.
Color and font you plan on using for your character's speech: Classic style, Veranda, blue, bold for Supes, unbolded for Clark
How many times do you intend on posting a DAY IN the RPG: As many as need be, life permiting.
Please provide a small sample post with original content in the style that you plan to write your character in (must be at least 3 paragraphs long and contain at least 1 line of dialogue):
Clark swallowed hard as he pushed up his glasses to the top of his nose. He reached up, fidgeting with his tie. He had been strangled by the likes of the Hulk, but this tie seemed to wrap around his neck like a vice.
"Relax", Lois sighed as she reached up and straighten his tie.
"You're fine."
"Sorry", Clark replied as they entered the small Italian place, the scent of freshly cooked pasta dominating Clark's sense of smell.
"Don't tell me a big strong country boy like you is nervous of little ol' me", Lois smirked as she spoke in her best country accent.
"No, just the first time I've worn this suit."
"Uh, huh", Lois smiled skeptically.
"Just relax, Smallville", she said as he hooked her arm inside his and escorted him into the restaurant.
"Enjoy yourself this evening. I know I will."
Do you know how to post pictures on the hype boards?:
He'll be taking the place of Bruce Banner if I get approved.
