Sounds that way. Smh.

Don't know why you wouldn't make one without the other. In a superhero/mutant movie where people have super human abilities, then displaying those abilities should be done with care or else the movie is going to look real cheesy.

You don't need special effects for movies where the actors have to stay in the realm of human capability. But if your going to do a movie where the actors have to do things that are not humanly possible, then you need to be able to portray that using special effects. If you can't do that, then don't make a super hero movie.

I don't love the look, but it's fine. If Isaac is good in the role, I'll be happy.

As for the Thanos comparisons, no thank you. Thanos looks so fake and CGI-y that it always takes me out of the moment. I think Singer has always taken the position that unless you can make the CGI look good, go practical.

I think it's cool how Singer and co. haven't limited themselves to just the older comics and take cues from the animated versions of X-Men as well. Like the 90s Animated Series and X-Men Evolution as well as more modern comics like All-New X-Men.

You can notice the cables in the back of his head like Isaac's design.

Yeah, a bunch of users have pointed out how Singer and co. have taken key aspects of the character and incorporated them into a live-action version (The A, the lips, the cables etc), which makes it quite disappointing that people harp on the Ooze comparison.

And look, that Apocalypse is blue!

There's a lot of different Apocalypse looks, but it's fairly obvious which ones fans wanted and which ones are more iconic. Still think the best comparison is Archangel in UXF. More then a few similarities there.

But again, none of this will matter at all once the performance is there.

Let's be honest here, I know some on this forum is still iffy about how Apocalypse look, but after seeing how Doom looked in Fant4stic, Apocalypse to me is a major step up.

You have to admit that at least Singer and the costume department had used different interpretations from the comics to make their version of Apocalypse for the film, it may not be the version you wanted or hoped for, but at least the elements are there.

With Doom, that was just horrifying for what Trank had done.

I still think it was a mistake to make that steel mill picture our "first look" at him, because he seems to look different (at least in color) in both the cover of EW and scenes shown in the comic-con trailer. And I have a feeling that the purple makes people retroactively have a negative reaction to everything else about the look, at least that was the case with myself.

Very true, people are rushing to see an unfinished then complaining instead of waiting for the finished product and possibly complaining lol.

Oh yeah, I definitely get that there is are iconic looks to characters, particularly Apocalypse and that people want the more notable versions to be adapted. It's just that it's not like Singer and co. were oblivous to what makes Apocalypse, Apocalypse like some people are making it out to be.

he looks nothing like I would want, but all the hyperbole about looking like Ivan Ooze or Palpatine or Papa Smurf or whatever the hell else is so banal and just makes those who have honest reservations about his look seem like we're all spoiled children

Since there is no time travel in this movie he is probably getting offed, sorry mein freund.

Unless they put him back to sleep, but why would they do that if he's destroying most of the world in this movie? Lol.
