Apocalypse Oscar Isaac IS Apocalypse - Part 1

I was wondering, since Singer at one point said the movie would be somewhat based on AOA, it would be cool if he had Apocalypse take control over North America and establish himself as the ruler, and considering the destruction there will be in the film, it's a possibility, but it would require a lot of time passing over the course of the film.

Fassy Mags has hardly been a villain. Seriously..

Actually, he did have his villainous moments. In the end of First Class, Magneto throws an array of missiles back at the US and Russian Navy and is fighting Xavier at the same time. Then, he accidentally cripples Xavier by tossing a bullet into his back in the process of shielding himself from Moira's gunfire. In Days of Future Past, he almost crashed a plane during his argument with Xavier, reprogrammed the sentinels to attack the humans, dropped a baseball stadium on the White House, and tried to gun down Mystique, President Nixon and his staff. Judging from all of that, I wouldn't exactly say that Fassneto was hardly a villain and after seeing the comic-con trailer for X-men: Apocalypse, this is just the tip of the iceberg.

he's been both hero and villian
Bluntly speaking, without Mags in FC and DOFP the X-men, or collection of mutants fail their mission. Does he sell out? Yes. But its been back and forth. He certainly wasn't at the level of main antagonist like Shaw, Trask, Sentinels etc..

So he is a villain.

yeah i admitted as much the very first time.
but he hasn't been full on villian. that was my point originally.

Thanos looks like a cartoon. I thought he looked horrible in GotG myself (and I loved that movie).

I am not very impressed by the Apocalypse make-up but I think Singer's track record for creating villains and menace, and Oscar Isaac's talent as an actor, earns them the benefit of the doubt. Let's wait and see since nobody except for 7,000 Hall Hers have even actually seen Isaac in action as Apocalypse (and that is without CGI enhancements).

While I was not around for the Keaton backlash, it is infamous that he was considered half-a-foot too short and not muscular enough to play Batman. More recently, Tom Hardy knocked it out of the park as Bane. But fanboys were pissy because he didn't have the body of a steroided professional wrestler.

You sound exactly like them. Whatever people's thoughts were on the actual movie of TDKR (I liked it a lot), Bane became a pop culture figure overnight thanks to it and had an immediate effect to how Bane was written and presented in comics, video games, etc. Nobody cared that he and Bale were about the same height in real life (actually Bale I think is an inch taller).

And he also did not look like a cartoon, which is what too many seem to want out of these films these days.

I just thought the comparison of Keaton and Batman to Apoc and Isaacs was bad. Im not worried about size really because Apoc changes size often. Just worried about the look, voice and overall presentation. All we can do is wait and see. I was a big fan of Batman and Keaton and I never heard or had a problem with his size or muscularity. He wore an armored suit that was muscled out for him. He didn't need to be huge. Again I'm not worried about size here at all for Apoc, but the difference between Apoc and Batman as far as what it takes to make size work for both just doesn't seem to be in the same realm. You can make men look bigger by putting smaller people around them. A little different when your talking about making a small man look like someone who is much much bigger than any man. But again, I'm not worried about size...only his look and representation.

Just wait and see the full trailer at least to pass judgement on this look. I personally think it looks fine, but back when first class was coming out there were these sort of official first look photos of all the mutants that looked terrible, but in the finished film everyone looked fine. I'm personally relieved that singer has chosen to keep the characters looks practical, because all cgi often looks cartoonish next to live action characters. Even when it's good cgi. Cgi thanos wasn't that great. But A1 thanos looked amazing.

No they didn't. It's not the exact same image and the color's a little less orange. He's in a different pose between the two pics, but otherwise, nothing's different.

little difference
no improvement

I don't know but in the old picture he seems to me purple in the new he seems blue, also if you look at his forehead the "lines" are more detailed. Also in the old one the thing he wears in his head it's like it's part of his head, in the second it's clear that is like a cerebro-helmet cause you see the difference of the colors between the helmet and his skin.

I think the different lighting does make some difference plus they can always make a few changes in post production.

I ready don't mind it and would want to see it in the film/trailer to make more of a difference

Apoc with blue skin in some comics/animated series

I still say if they just do the eyes white and make his base size larger, it would be a big step in the right direction
The cowl piece is probably not gunna change unfortunately, though it'd be nice if they brought the color one shade closer to his skin
and his butt-nose is bothering me but I guess that's just Isaac's real nose :woot:

Isn't Apocalypse going to be a shapeshifter in this movie? I heard somewhere that he can change his size and appearance in this. I think Apocalypse is going to have plenty of CGI scenes.

No I know, Im absolutely sure he'll change size, don't wanna start that argument again
his non-powered up size could just be a few inches bigger so he towers over the horsemen

Lighting makes a ton of difference people. Wait to see him without the strong purple/orange lighting. Those set picks aren't a true representation of the colors of his look. Heavy orange and purple tints. Think man of steel differences, but only for those scenes where clearly a lot of destruction is taken by place off camera. Just like MoS tint isn't a true rep of the brighter blue gold and red suit, apoc isn't purple.

If wolverine can be taller and still awesome I don't see why a human size apoc for dialogue scenes is a bad thing. I'm sure they will used forced perspective and green screen to make him bigger for fight scenes, but apoc can change size at will. It's cheaper and more grounded to have his base size be the size of the actor portraying him. Similar to how they COULD have cg de-aged Patrick Stewart and Ian for an entire movie, but it wouldn't be cost effective (and honestly after ten minutes we would catch on how fake it would have looked, and it would have taken us out of the film.) comic sized apoc the entire time isn't necessary because there is an in universe explanation for why that doesn't have to be his base size.

^If he had the grey skin and a blue cape I guarantee he would have a much better reception. I don't, however, particularly disagree with those who dislike it so far, but, as I've said before, I'm waiting for a better look, specifically of him in that subbasement scene...

Also his skin is green in that last one. Yeah, Apocalypse has always had a goofy-ass design.

Can't belive I missed this. Excellent post
I don't think it would take Apocalypse alotta time to walk into the white house like Boom! I'm on yhe boss now. who's gonna stop him?
