Apocalypse Oscar Isaac IS Apocalypse - Part 1

But isn't Apocalypse's whole goal is to rebuild civilization to one that would worship him? We have yet to have a villain who has been a religious figure with a massive god complex.

I agree though there is overlap between Shaw's, Magneto's and Apocalypse's goals. Personally with the X-Men films, it's not so much the villains' end goal but the journey there that keeps it interesting. So far all three of these villains have been in movies with 3 distinct tones so it has not been stale yet.

Ummm Ultron (whether you liked him no or not )had a god complex and his motives aren't all that much different from Apocalypse's now that I think about it. Unless you were talking about villains in the X-Men franchise only then I'll see myself out.

I don't remember Ultron being a religious figure.

He had a God complex. His Vision was suppose to be the one that the new world was suppose to look up to after his meteor event.

Ultron's purpose was to protect Earth and by his logistics, he felt humans would destroy it, but if he were to eradicate and/or control them, the Earth is safe.

As for Apocalypse, we don't know much right now, but also I've been avoiding a lot of spoilers for the movie.

He didn't want to eradicate all humans, just most. The rest would have to evolve to keep up with his new world order.

That's pretty much what I said. Eradicate and/or control them.

I think he would leave the survivors alone actually. To witness how they evolve (or die).

But they would still be in his control. They either do what works for his objective or he eradicates them.

By that point his objective would already be completed. He would've the landscape. Now the survivors will have to adapt. And evolution is chaotic by nature. If he controlled it, it would be intelligent design. Any death is darwinian. Not by Ultron's hand.

His metoer event was to force evolution and he'll (in his Vision body) be what humanity should aspire to be. After Vision was stolen from him,he just went '**** it, humanity can burn'. The meteor didn't even reach maximum height, he just dropped it.

I hope Apocalypses motives are different. From what I've heard, his are "survival of the fittest". I'm not sure how's he's gonna achieve that without it being too similar to Ultron. I just hope Singer does a better job at exploring Apocalypses motives than Whedon did for Ultron. Took me a couple viewings to understand what Ultron was trying to achieve in AoU.

Oscar Isaac quote

Depends which comic you are talking about. There’s X-Factor, there’s X-Men, there’s The Age of Apocalypse, there’s the animated series, there’s X-Men: Evolution, so when someone says Apocalypse without referring a comic book, it’s a very general question. They may want to state which is their Apocalypse first. He’s definitely not going to be everyone’s favorite version of Apocalypse, but he’s my favorite version of Apocalypse. It’s something from the 80s mixed in with something new. They either create a backstory that he was this mutant from Ancient Egypt that found this technology and they explore that story or they send him to another universe where he’s more powerful than he’s ever been. He’s turned all these other X-Men into villains. There are different ways that artists and creative people get the chance to explore his story on a massive scale if they do. In this one, Bryan Singer and Simon Kinberg took the inspiration from many different sources, many different versions of Apocalypse throughout the ages and found the one that we thought was the most interesting."

Basically reiterating what a lot of this board has been saying when they say his Apocalypse isn't THE Apocalypse when it's just based on Apocalypse's that they don't like and are unfamiliar with. (Though it's very much like XM:E Apocalypse)

Oscar nails interviews though. Just love everything he has to say about all of his projects. He knows his stuff so well.

In fairness though, Ultron wasn't a lot like his comic book counterpart when it came to motivations and personality in AOU. Many have expressed not being happy about that. Apocalypse sounds like he will be so whether he has a similar plan or not to Ultron doesnt mean Apoc is copying him.

Ultron got owned in basically every encounter with the Avengers and he made throughout jokes omg..... one of the main reasons why it wasn't better than Avengers.

He was better in the trailers.

But I'm more upset that Marvel used Age of Ultron subtitle. Now if FoX wants to do AoA it'll be seen as copying from fans when AoA 1000x > AoU comic

I think X-Men: apocalypse may already be takin certain elements from Age of Apocalypse so i wouldnt expect fox to do that story anyway

To be honest, nobody cares Ultron. Especially general audience. It hasn't been a character to be remembered. In fact, even comic book fans already forgot him and looking for next. It was another failed villain of MCU unfortunately. So motives won't be problem if they are similar or not.

Apocalypse will be a great villain.Book it. All Singer's X-Men movies featured great villains. Magneto is obvious but even regular guys like Stryker or Trask. They know how to make a villain work.

And a great actor playing the character. You can't ask for more.

When it comes to Apocalypse, i think complaints will be always around fanboys nitpicking.. his look, size, voice etc. Similar to Bane in TDKR.
