Apocalypse Oscar Isaac IS Apocalypse - Part 1

I've been waiting a decade for Apocalypse's live action adaptation... and Singer gives me The Power Rangers Movie villain. Sorry, call me a troll or a hater or etc but costumes and designs have always been one of his biggest weaknesses. I have no doubt Oscar will put on a kickass performance but Apocalypse looks like a campy villain.

Let's be realistic here, people who complained about EW's Apocalypse will complain about greyed and blue-lipped Apocalyspe and people who defended this Apocalypse will continue to defend that new one.

Hard to say. I would probably like other versions they came up with. But I see sooo much of my favorite look of Apocalypse in this look, that I have a hard time seeing loving other looks as much as what we have now.

You know it's posts like this that annoy people, right? I'm a comic fan and I recognize this design as Apocalypse.

From the kneck up there is no way anyone would know that's apocalypse. Someone may recognize him as Ivan ooze 2015

Your a little late on that thread, you've miss the arguments on that a long time ago.

More or less sounds about right, though.

I figured I wasn't the only nerd/geek to make that reference. :funny:

Still, I'm considerably disappointed with the outcome. Psylocke looks like she's straight out of the comic panels, and I'm certain Singer tried to do the same with Apocalypse... BUT the execution left me desiring more. I didn't complain about the "Dyson" Sentinels or Bishop's bad cosplay looking appearance or the X-Men's uniforms. However, it's clear as day that this franchise has underwhelmed in that department.

Oh well.

Exactly, but for some reason, people get butt hurt when you say things that are so obvious.

It's a fair criticism in my opinion.

The uniforms, for example, have lacked personality but that hasn't been a massive issue for me.

Well this should be fun.

The wait for the movie may not be as bad as I feared.

Look, there are valid criticisms. But they hyperbolic nonsense gets old real fast. Especially when time after time after time after time after time, it has been proven that the look is not necessarily the final say on the performance. You are free to dislike the look. I have some minor, minor nitpicks myself.

I do get on about the comic accuracy. Yes, it isn't THE iconic look. But, the look is taken from so many different comic sources, that it is the height of ignorance to call it not accurate. It's new, sure. But I see a ton of influences that should be readily identifiable to comic fans. It's not like others haven't used amalgramations before.

And once again, I admit my bias. I see a LOT of my favorite depiction of Apocalypse in this. So feel free to dislike the look. Isaac will still do a great job.

Just deleted a bunch of petty sniping on the last 2 pages. Y'all can do better.

I agree with what your saying to an extent. I just think the face is so not Apoc. If they just gave him a gray face with blue lips that stuck out like the iconic comic, I could seriously be fine with the rest. He's got those lips more often than cyclops has his optic visor, or Xavier has his wheel chair, or magneto has his helmet.

Ive never seen Apoc look like a 65 year old man either. I know Oscar can act his butt off, so Im not worried on that front. And your absolutely right, we have only seen 10 seconds of hopefully unfinished Apoc, so there is some hopefully premature disappointment on my part, but I did expect something in between the original X-men/Evoloution/Wolverine and the X-men, and that didn't happen...especially in the face.

I have like some of the manips Ive seen so hoping that there can be some incorporation.

Do you not like the Lips? As a big fan, how can you dislike them when he's got them 99.9% of the time?

My favorite look doesn't have the lips, so clearly they aren't a deal breaker to me.

His Victorian garb is first seen in Further Adventures of Cyclops and Phoenix, but I prefer how it was portrayed in Apocalypse vs Dracula.

Hope 1973 is the year when Apocalypse is woken up, so through next ten years he learn himself how the world looks and next recruits his four horsemans.
It would be stupid if he did it during one year, just after being woken up. It works in comic, whithout any explanation, and when reader is 10-15 years old. But at big screen for adult audience it wouldn't work. There has to be explanation how Apocalypse finds those mutants, how he knows what they need, etc.

That's interesting point of view.
This a disaster movie right?
One thing that attracts people and followers is power.
If he shows up in a grandoise way people are gonnaknow about him and want to follow him.
Isnt that one mutant who can find mutants gonna be in this one? It'll be easy for him to find who he wants then eadily persude from there

Caliban is able to psionically sense the presence of other mutants within a 25 mile radius of himself.
25 mile, not more, Caliban isn't Cerebro.
Also first Apocalypse has to know about existing those mutants, next find them.
