Apocalypse Oscar Isaac IS Apocalypse - Part 2

Watched Colliders spoiler review and I agree with Campea when he said they needed to hammer down Apocalypses philosophy of survival of the fittest a little more than they did. We only gotva glimpse of it on the hill scene when he's transmitting his speech.

On that scene, did anyone else absolutely love
when Charles says he cannot transmit the message to that many people without Cerebro. Then Apocalypse gives the best reaction and look of disgust to Charles and tells him, "you don't need a machine to amplify your powers when you have me". AWESOME acting and line delivery. Really shows Apocalypses hatred for technology and how the weak have become dependant on it and now even powerful mutants such as Prof X.

Yep, loved that moment as well. Showed how superior he was to anything that came before.

I think his motivations were clear, he was worshipped in his era and stressed the strong inherit the earth, and saw the decadence and posturing of the 80s as a step back. Him learning it via the tv is actually a very comic book thing to do.

He probably watched MTV and decided to eradicate the Earth right away. Must be those wacky music videos. :oldrazz:

The dirty down up look he gave Charles when he asked people to protect those without power lmao Apocalypse so snobby hahaha

lol, my favorite was when Charles told him without Cerebro he couldn't reach that many people. He had this look like, "this mother****er....I swear."

Was mtv even around in 83? Lol

Even though I was still very young in the 80s, I can tell you this: Back then, MTV actually lived up to the name.

For the most part, they played non-stop music videos all day long; and it wasn't just the commercial **** you tend to see now either. Hell, these days you're lucky to catch any real music on that channel amid all the teen dramas and reality shows.

I really loved how creepy he looked with the cloak in the beggining, I really enjoyed him overall and he's my favorite villain so far this year.

I thought Isaac did well, but overall, I was kind of disappointed with Apoc. Not quite sure what it was, but I do feel like he wasn't very imposing for the most part. I would have liked to have seen him go hand to hand with some of the X-men; just bat them around like it was nothing. And it's minor, but he was too short. They should have added a few inches to him to make him more physically imposing. he was shorter than half of his horsemen, lol.

It was also cool seeing him use his
transmutation powers to transform his victims into living stone, which is basically what he does to Ozymandius, his former master, in The Rise of Apocalypse limited series.

Apocalypse kind of reminds me of Akasha from QOTD an ancient evil that is betrayed and once again rises to cleanse the earth however we don't get much backstory I think if we saw scenes on his survival of the fittest approach it would've made him more interesting and why he was betrayed in the beginning.

I actually like his motivation, it was just poorly presented or developed. He represents ancient religions and is like a deity from that era coming into the 20th century. He would despise the Cold War and would want the world powers to be defrocked and humiliated in his presence.

With that said, we don't really get any of that besides in his big speech. Otherwise, he is just cardboard generic "We will cleanse the Earth." They should have established early his disdain for the weak and the "cultured." Instead, it amounts to him touching a TV and that's it.

On paper, it was a fun idea. But the execution by the script was lousy and underserved Isaac in the role.

I agree completely that was the biggest peice missing imo.

The big disappointment of the movie for me. He wasn't terrible but I just found him consistently boring in all his scenes and I never felt much of a presence from him. I don't think Oscar Isaac is to blame though, he just didn't have anything interesting to say and I don't think the constant voice changes helped him either. Oscar's acting is enough to get the emotions across.

I'm not bothered by that it's generic to want to end the world or anything like that, it's perfectly fine for a villain like this. The execution was just off.

I think we needed a sequence of him from the beginning/discovering his powers, not when he's old as balls and transferring into a younger body. It was a really great scene but didn't really tell us much about his origins.

He also appeared very stiff in his costume. He looked stiffer than Peter Weller walking around in the Robocop suit. It's probably the reason why we never saw him go hand to hand with any Xmen. He probably sounded like a kids bounce house when he moved due to all the rubbery parts.
That's about my only complaint. He didn't do much but talk in hissing whispering tones while moving in slow motion.

Still though, I thought Isaac did a decent job. I liked Apocalypse as a whole.

Why would he go hand to hand with the X-Men when he could just turn them all into dust without laying a finger on any of them?:yuk:

He probably forgot he even have this power.

Cause they're his children and he wants to teach them lessons? I mean, he was going to execute Quicksilver but got kind of carried away making him his *****.

He had too many powers and it didn't even pay off.

It's a comic book movie. I like to see hand to hand ass kicking from the main baddie at some point.

I really wish they just made his eyes white all the time, because it looks soooo much better! And I hate those metal cords around his neck, its like he has for tubes connected to back of his head. And I wish he looked heavier, I feel like for Apocalypse, he's kinda sexy which is kinda weird to say. I just wish he looked similar to the Apocalypse of X-Men Legends II.

He doesn't kill his childs.
He kills only people.
