Apocalypse Oscar Isaac IS Apocalypse - Part 2

Power Rangers were created in 80's too, but some still don't know this X-Men movie is about 80's. So 80's fashion is in the movie. Don't know why they expect to look those characters like from 2010's.

The only issue I had was the fairly monochrome look of the suit. Add some gold into it and emphasize the pharaoh like look.

I think my problem with Apocalypse mainly has been all these close-up shots.

I understand that Singer tried to capture Oscar Isaac's facial expression under all this make-up closely but Apocalpyse looked a lot better from a little distance...I actually liked his armor and look in some scenes/angles while others have been very clown-facey!

I really don't get the criticisms of him as a villain, said it on my first unwind, feel it even more after a 2nd. Many mention the nuke scene, where he takes over Charles and Cerebro, this is probably the best villain scene of the year so far for me, so powerful. But it certainly isn't his only bad ass moment.

I loved in the astral fight with Charles when Charles is beating on him and says "you're I my house now" and then Apoc catches his fist, his eyes go white, and he announces "you'll need a bigger house" before growing huge. It was another of many moments fromApoc I love in the movie. Him destroying a city with no mercy at all for the occupants was also another.

Such an under rated villain for me, and I love how he was taking on Beast, a charged Magneto, Cyclops and Charles all at the same time, and they still couldn't beat him. It took Pheonix totally unleashing to begin his downfall, and even then Storm had to get involved to finally kill him off. Apocalypse is my favourite X-Men villain, and for me I loved this version of him.

Soooo, does he not grow large outside of the Astral Plane?

and is the Astral plane fight really just the mansion but dark?

It starts in how the astral plane is usually depicted in the comics (but more blueish white in color palate) that when Xavier says, "You're in my house now" morphs into his mansion. Then Apocalypse grows big and still thrashes him about and throws him into the X-hallway. Down there, he just beats on Xavier until Jean Grey tags into the fight and destroys the entire artifice of the house and kicks Apocalypse out.

He does not grow large in reality.

What DACrowe, I thought I would hate him not growing in the real world as well, but in the end it didn't bother me during the movie.

ok, well I'm glad they show a more traditional astral plane and not just the mansion

I found something new: At the end of DoFP Logan end up like Jean in X2, drowning and with the hint of a resurection to come. XMA started with Apocalypse getting healing powers and being burried. Like Logan he is all about unleashing power, but he controls it. It enhance the emotional weight of alkali lake to me, when Jean heal Logan.

I heard Singer wanted DoFP end to be a dream, it still had a dreamy feel to it even if it when to be real (alternate timeline or whatever), and it still feel a bit like Logan's utopia. Jean's back, everyone is back. Enhance by the fact he is under water and there is the glimpering light.

XMA deal with those issue of lost paradise. Apocalypse want to get back to the bottom of the earth. He wants to destroy civilization. To go back to primal time. Erik and Charles too live in a fantasy of their own, Erik try to be human, Charles doesn't want X-Men anymore. Even Mystique is hiddin and leaving her little spy-rebel life.

In DoFP Charles told Logan his power came from his heart and soul. Him making his psychic headspace his mansion was extremely powerfull. It broke a wall beetwen his heart, mind and reality. Freein Jean becomes even more powerfull, even more when your remember LS and the control he kept over her.

It also felt true to him losing his hair. "You will need a bigger house". He evolve to someone more open, without limitations. And that made the final battle something epic and emotionally really deep to me.

I think they did a very good job of depicting his power. I do feel though that Isaac wasn't the best choice for the character. Something about his face just took me out of several of his scenes.

His nose is fine, I just wish they went with a taller/wider actor.

I would have put less make-up on his face tbh. Just add the line and colour him in.

Some LOTR style height adjustment would have gone a long way too. Make him regular size when he's seducing horsemen and have him grow as he asserts himself and intimidates people.

Should've been CGI.

I think Isaac does deserve a bit of blame too. His delivery is flat, uncharismatic (even though we're told the opposite), zero personality. Gimme TAS Apocalypse any day, as cartoony and one dimensional as he may be.

He didn't he just took control of the satellites/technology. It seemed pretty clear to me.

I LOVE the way he says "no more...superpowers" he should have used that voice a bit more often.

I loved this line: "You can fire your arrows from the Tower of Babel, but you can never strike God!" That line was vintage Apocalypse.

I actually liked Oscar issac as apocalypse, perhaps he was a little watered down compared to the comics, maybe, but I thought he carried it well.

I was even fine with his look.

Because he took control of CEREBRO which is a technology that the Professor was using... that's why Havok had to destroy the room. Are you even watching the damn movie? :p
