Apocalypse Oscar Isaac IS Apocalypse

My thing, at this point in time anyway, is that (from what little I've seen) the character just looks so over-designed. It looks like they've lost Isaac under the make-up, and I don't think it was necessary to.

But then, it's still early days, and a better look at the character lies ahead, so we'll see...

The facial prosthetics (nose and chin, which is where I'm primarily getting the Ivan Ooze comparison) do seem a bit much. I do think the grey they went with is going to look blue when against the blue armor.

The armor, I love. I do wish there was some gold in there, sort of like his Victorian armor in the comics. But, we don't fully know what the digital stuff is yet.

About the voice, Isaac said he doesn't worry about that because he'll add it later. So we'll only see his Apocalypse voice later.

It's the purple. If he looked more blue or gray in that scene there wouldn't be as much comparisons (although maybe he would've been compared to Malekith).

I've just watched Ex Machina recently and was really impressed with Oscar Isaac, couldn't believe he's the same guy who played the loser folkie in Inside Llewyn Davis. Hopefully he kills in this too.

I don't know blue or bluish looking Apocalypse has some precedence before the movie:

But seeing the DoFP Apocalypse and if trailer is some kind of indicator, why isn't there a more greyish skin type look, or maybe that is what they final look might be?

I think it's too early to ask this question but in a fight 1 versus 1 between X-Men Last Stand's Dark Phoenix Jean vs the Apocalypse we will see in movie, who would win? I hope they make him look and be REALLY STRONG.

I wanted Apocalypse's Apokolips. The big lips are such an iconic part of his look, as are the glowing eyes and silver skin. He doesn't really look like the character much now but just an Egyptian out of Stargate. And for that matter, he doesn't even look like Oscar Isaac very much now either.

I don't mind his costume, parts of it are cool.

The head area is way too busy though and there's too much make-up, like Oscar Isaac is lost underneath it all.

The lips, properly executed, would likely affect the ability for the character to emote as well.

I think he looks great. Love the ancient/futuristic ornate look. I'm okay with him being blue, because so many key mutants have been blue. It makes sense. Wonder if Mystique and Kurt will have anything to do with him, be part of his lineage, etc?

He only really resembles Ronan's basic shape on the cover of EW. He seems to have a much more streamlined and ornate look than Ronan did overall.

And he looks absolutely nothing like Ivan Ooze. No idea why people are still on that nonsense.

I'm sure he will increase in size. His eyes need to be red though also needs a menacing and commanding voice, so far his presence isn't very threatening.

Not in the picture with Psylocke and Storm but the cover he has something going on with his face. Maybe they will put it in with CGI?

And I agree his head doesn't resemble Apocalypse at all. The fact that his skin is blue makes him resemble Ronan more. If they made his skin silver, that would differentiate him. But he doesn't even resemble Oscar Isaac either, so losing his physical likeness can't have been that much of a concern. They should've just gone with the full lips.

don't really like the look of his face, but i'll wait and see what it looks like on screen. lots of folks thought quicksilver looked like crap, and he end up stealing the show.
