Our "Space Princess": David Corenswet IS Clark Kent/Superman!

And I'm suddenly reminded that David will be not just our Superman in the movies, but (if Legacy's successful) he's gonna be across TV, video games and animation too. Bless. :ilv:
Finally getting a good, open-world Superman game on modern consoles would be the most delicious cherry on top on what appears to be a resurgence of good-times for us Superman fans. :D

I do hope he dyes his hair and eyebrows black. Something about a brunette Superman has never worked for me (looking at you, Welling and Routh).

in all fairness to Bale that wasn't his natural physique (he nearly starved himself to death for that role) we saw him with a better physique before that, so, he just had to get back to his normal size first

yes, after having lost that much weight for that role, he then had to gain it all back very fast, as well as train... not taking credit away from that work...

people just use the image as an example of someone skinny being able a build that much muscle very fast, is misleading

Looks like he has already done so. There is video going around of him from a couple of weeks ago where it appears his hair is now black. It's hard to tell because he is wearing a hat, but it looks black

I'm guessing he dyed it for the auditions.

It's bizarre to me that whoever captured that excerpt edited in a close-up of his hands when he does that leg slap, when it's not that way in the original clip at all:

Such a random extra bit of effort lol. And while we're at it, here's some more clips! He had plenty of Clark energy in Hollywood:

Here's one with fellow Superman Darren Criss -

A more romantic scene with an Almost Lois, Samara Weaving -

And lest anyone be worried he can ONLY do that nervous Clark Kent energy, here's some laid back, calming, confident zen energy to counter:

Note the completely different body language in the two roles. He's got this. Boy could do it in his sleep. :supes:

You have no idea how annoyingly difficult it's been to find clips of this guy acting - especially compare to Brosnahan.

Thanks for posting! I feel a lot better about his acting now.

Moe and Jerryweather is great as well because DC not only acted in it, he helped write it, edited it, chose the music and did most of the behind the scenes work. It let you in on who he really is as a person. Plus the one episode that is what was not shown, let's you see him as he really is. Quite charming.

there's no need for that soy sauce hair.
maybe a slightly darker brunette dye, but let's not go to zachary levi shazam levels. lol.

Never this again... Never!

THOUGHTS ON DAVID CORENSWET AS SUPERMAN

Pros:

- he's 6'4, so accurate Superman height

- He has blue eyes

- an actual American with a natural American accent

- from Pennsylvania (Smallville vibes: the rustbelt is very similar to the midwest)

- He can act (went to Juliard like Chris Reeve, Val Kilmer, Kevin Conroy)

- much more charismatic than wooden Henry Cavill, in interviews alone. I get Brendan Fraser vibes off him, which is not a bad thing for Superman, and a much better step in the right direction after the soul-less Zack Snyder version

- He's a fan of the classic version of the character (sounds like James Gunn is too, so hopefully between the two of them we will see the true costume with the red trunks and yellow belt and proper colors finally)

CONS:

- he looks like a discount store version of Henry Cavill. Which by itself isn't necessarily bad, but it does make one wonder if audiences will get that this is a different guy*.

* ...however, that's also a possible "pro" because it will mean that the studio will go to even further lengths to differentiate this version from Snyder's and make sure it is nothing like Cavill's version, from the story and probably from the costume especially so that audiences viscerally get that this is a reboot and not the Snyder version

I think Corenswet will do great. He's solid casting, and in the hands of a good director and writer who gets the characters, like James Gunn, even mediocre casting can work. So we are in good hands. I am optimistic!

The interview that sold me on Corenswet as Superman:

Again, much more charismatic and natural than Cavill was. No hate on Cavill, he was dealt a raw deal with having to play the worst version of the character in live action (second only to Hoechlin's man-child version) and he's a nice guy in real life from what I can tell, but Cavill has been a wooden, charisma vacuum in everything I've ever seen him in.

I'll never understand the heavy slicked look Singer and Snyder both chose to go with. So many better style choices they could have gone with.

Routh's Superman hairstyle annoyed me because he'd be flying getting it blown about all over the place & then he'd land with it immediately perfectly combed with the same artificial looking curl sitting perfectly. Had the technology been available at the time, Reeve's probably would have looked equally as silly for the same reason.

You either need to have it be slicked like Cavill's was or Cain beyond season 1 of L&C to do away with that issue, neither of which I am particularly found of, or alternatively just have Superman's hairstyle be the natural free flowing portion of the disguise & let Clark's be combed & neat. That's often the way it seems to be depicted on the page anyways.

The styles must be different though IMO between disguises, Hoechlin's looks practically the same whether he's Superman or Clark.

Did he dye his hair for Hollywood?

His hair look pretty black there to me.

Since he dyed his hair for the screentest (thanks hostage videos for making that evident!), I have a feeling it will be dyed for the movie. Hopefully just darker than his natural shade and not an unnatural-looking jet black, though. I feel like it was Superman-ready in The Politician, honestly.

I thought Cavill's hair color was great. Black, but not jet.

Black hair erasure already took down Harry Potter and Percy Jackson. Let us have this one.
