Our "Space Princess": David Corenswet IS Clark Kent/Superman!

Superman technically doesn't age ( well he does, but at an extremely slow rate ) so he could look 25 but be many, many years older.

It's too bad that James Gunn said right off the bat that his Superman was going to be younger. My John Krasinski fan cast got tossed right out the window .

It'd be nice if I had more confidence in Wolfgang Novogratz's acting abilities, because damn:

He has that affable, "golly shucks" quality that I quite like for Superman. But going by the limited amount of stuff I've watched from him... I don't know. They HAVE to get this casting right, and I don't know if this guy has the experience or the talent to to shoulder something with this much enormity.

In light of that recent (and almost certainly fake) rumor the other day, just on the incredibly minuscule chance that it's on the money, I circled back around to this guy. And yeah... He's got the Look and the Vibe. But given his current filmography resume, there's not much present that gives a solid indicator that Novogratz has the chops to match yet.

I will say I do really dig Wolfgang Novogratz's look though. I hadn't initially noticed it myself until I started seeing direct comparisons online, but he does have a rather notable resemblance to Christopher Reeve. A bit of Dylan O'Brien in the mix too, sure, but man... once I properly saw the resemblance to Reeve, the more it's stuck with me.

Granted, I previously gave David Corenswet some flack for potentially looking too similar to Henry Cavill, but I think part of why Novogratz's resemblance to Reeve doesn't bother me nearly as much is that regardless of which Superman you prefer, Reeve did a far better job naturally exuding that "Golly Shucks" attitude than Cavill ever did. Cavill may technically have "looked" more like Superman from the comics, but he looks like a statue of marble. He looks too perfect, ultimately lacking that humanity and affable charm that Clark innately projects that brings the whole thing together for Superman.

Corenswet, as others have already noted, is a lot closer to the mark here than Cavill ever was. But I dunno... If- and this is an enormous "If"- Novogratz were to be cast in the role, I'd have to assume that he'd have earned it by proving to those involved that he's somehow got the range and chops to deliver and hasn't quite had the right project to showcase his talents yet.

You know, I don’t think he’s quite right for the role now given the direction they seem to be taking, but he could have been an interesting alternate for Man of Steel.

DC SuperPets is there. :o

Lol I couldn’t get through it. Cute opening though

How can you construct a 25 year old to 30 year old Clark Kent for the 2020s? You can get away with the big Kansas farm boy look because that person still exists today. I don’t know if you can go with the clumsy goober that Christopher Reeves was. I am thinking fish out of water type. I big country boy going to New York. Almost like Eli Manning was going to Giants if you are a football fan. Looking forward to see how Gunn makes Clark.

I'm increasingly coming back to Alfred Enoch...

He's 6'3" and 34.

I like him as an actor , but he's on the older end to play a younger, 20 something, up and coming, Superman.

However, he's perfect age wise for the next Bond, and I'd put him in that category personally.

Has this Wolfpack Rosencrantz guy been in anything that would give us an idea of his acting? Just going by his look, I get more “jock who bullied Clark in high school” than Clark himself.

Novogratz has done Netflix movies, and one Broadway performance, or off B'way performance. He is decent, nothing special, at least I think so.

Could live with his casting, wouldn't be thrilled, but better than some other suggestions. Good look, but not sure he could do both Clark and Superman well.

Same. But I agree with whoever said they could see him as Shazam. IF he can act. Which, based on the clips I’ve seen thus far, seems very questionable.

Yeah.

I mean, I can see that he has the general build ,and superhero- like looks in general , but he really fits Shazam! much more imo.

Novogratz looks like a young man , while Corenswet looks like a man who could conceivably be working as a professional journalist for The Washington Post or Reuters .

He looks like he's beyond the Smallville HS years ,and that he's had more life experiences.

Novogratz, at this point still screams , undergrad , college student, to me at least.

If I may be so bold?

To be fair though, I think that exact quality might unfortunately work against Corenswet here, as the premise for the new film is about Clark specifically as a cubby reporter. That indicates to me that Gunn might opt to cast someone who comes across as being a bit younger and more overtly inexperienced, to better convey how green Clark is at his work currently.

I could very well be wrong there, but to make a comparison off of the various animated iterations, I'm suspecting that Gunn's Clark might hew closer to what we've seen so far in the concept art for My Adventures with Superman, rather than a more traditionally established Clark as seen in the DCAU show and Fleischer cartoons.

Not to say that Corenswet can't deliver on that, but I think if he gets the role he'll probably end up needing to play younger than he actually is.

There's also Roby Attal (Bly Manor), though he would need to bulk up big time. Dude is skin and bone.
