Paramount to distribute MARVEL films

I don't think they'll stop at 3 IM films. (Someone posted RDJ would stop playing IM around IM 3 or Avengers 2)

I don't think Marvel will let Downey go easily either.

Downey is old and he'll say enough is enough after 3. Iron Man itself will lose the charm after it, so it's better to have a 8-10 year pause then seeing another young actor taking over.

Marvel will not lose any sleep over the hibernation of a character when it has almost unlimited characters to promote.

If Captain America and/or Thor make more than $300, the Hulk should shoot himself. Not because the other guys don't deserve to do well, but because this would show that there's just no love for the Hulk.

I've heard many people suggest that Hulk is more well known than he is well liked. And While I like the Hulk, I think there might be truth to that.

I like the Hulk.. but I also think he's a bit boring character :o

i like the Hulk most when there is some level of intelligence to him. like in the comics when he is the hulk but can still carry on a conversation or have rational thought...i.e planet and world war hulk...after a while i lose interest when he only transforms into a giant green rampaging moster and has the vocabulary of a kid from the special ed class.

Peter David anyone..? heh :woot:

when will marvel people get Steven Spielberg to direct one of their films..? no-brainer..
also get Michael Bay after he's done with Transformers 2..

Marvel to Film Next Four Films at Raleigh Studios
Source: Marvel Studios // October 6, 2008

As Marvel Studios, a subsidiary of Marvel Entertainment, Inc., powers up to begin production on its next highly anticipated slate of films, the studio has made an agreement with Raleigh Studios to film each of Marvel's next four films at Raleigh's facility in Manhattan Beach, CA. The four projects to be produced at the studio facility over the next three years include Iron Man 2, Thor, The First Avenger: Captain America, The Avengers. Keeping these four major tent pole film productions in Southern California allows the studio access to outstanding crews and resources and makes Marvel the largest tenant on the Raleigh lot. Additionally, Marvel Studios will move its Beverly Hills-based executive and production offices to Raleigh's facility in Manhattan Beach.

"In making this deal with Raleigh to produce our upcoming films at the Manhattan Beach Studios, we are most excited about keeping our film production here in California and taking advantage of the best crews in the Los Angeles area," stated Louis D'Esposito, Marvel's President of Physical Production. "All of our production partners on these upcoming films have been incredibly accommodating in terms of their creativity and financial structures, allowing us to remain in California. Raleigh Studios has long been known for the superior quality of its film production facilities and we know that Manhattan Beach will be the ideal location to produce our movies to the highest standards that our fans expect."

"We are thrilled that we were able to find a way to make this deal work for Marvel," said Michael Moore, Raleigh Studios President. "We could not have asked for a greater compliment than having a quality company like Marvel put their faith in us to provide a home for its film productions."

The Marvel live action releases to be filmed at Raleigh Manhattan Beach Studios are scheduled to arrive in theaters beginning in 2010 and going through 2011. Specifically the release dates are Iron Man 2 on May 7, 2010; Thor on July 16, 2010; The First Avenger: Captain America on May 6, 2011; and The Avengers on July 15, 2011.

Raleigh Manhattan Beach Studios first opened for operations during 1998. This studio consists of 14 sound stages on 22 acres with an additional 300,000 square feet of office and support space. As a result of this venture, Raleigh Studios along with its sister company Hollywood Rentals, are now the largest operator of independent film studio facilities and production services in North America.

I don't know.. Is there a Marvel character whose father was absent..?

I don't get why Spielberg does that so much. I think his father was there for him.

Don't be silly, WW will never get made. That is in what we like to call development hell.

Sorry to beat a dead horse again and revert to a past conversation in this thread but I feel I need to bring this up. Another thing I just realized about this updated Marvel slate... Marvel conveniently bumped Iron Man 2's release date into May 2010 depite the fact that Disney already book marked the May 7th 2010 release for Narnia 3. Now Disney will amost certainly be moving from that spot... and while you guys chuckle at Disney's Narnia movies... I will also remind you that Disney has announced POTC4 for May 2011 and reports have it that Johnny Depp will sign the dotted line on a 56 million dollar deal. Don't think for one second Disney won't return the favor to Marvel by releasing POTC 4 the same date as Captain America. Then we'll see who gets the last laugh. Currently POTC 4 is slated for Memorial Day weekend but with HP8 and SM4 also slated for May 2011... does anyone still think Captain America will do well in May? If these other studios stand by their word it certainly don't look good for little Marvel studios.

I actually think a Cap movie would do great. Its a new face that hasn't seen the big screen. Heck he's Marvel's Superman with a rich history. He won't make $300M like IM but $100M is a lock.

Unlike WW. :cmad:

Let's remember what happened last time Iron Man was against a NARNIA movie. Narnia is not a threat. Pirates is not a threat.

I'm not sure when Narnia 3 got a release date either. Prince Caspian also did NOT do very well. So it's not like they earned that early May release date.

Don't doubt Disney. They must have realized there mistake in marketing Narnia 2 and seek to rectify it.

If they can get Beverly Hills CHIHUAHUA(?) to 30 million, then they can recover the Narnia brand.

..............

if Captain America STRIKES FIRST. It will make money. May 6th for Cap= huge money maker.

July for Cap= lost in the shuffle.

Personally if I were marvel I'd put iron Man 2 in 2011; it's something that would weather well in the face of competition. And with most of the studios seemingly blowing their loads in 2011, Thor in 2010 and Captain America and The Avengers in 2012 would be safe dates.

Pirates is not a threat.

Don't you guys get it. People LOVED Iron Man. People love Robert Downey Jr. as Tony Stark.

Iron Man is an established brand and movie franchise now. People liked Iron Man better than almost everything else this summer outside of the Dark Knight. Iron Man outperformed Indian FREAKING JONES in the US. It outperformed all the big names in May.

So no, Pirates is not a threat, especially since that franchise basically aborted itself with the third movie. Yeah, Jack Sparrow is a great character and everything, but is that really going to be enough to carry another movie? Without Gore Verbinski, and the Academy award nominated writers?

Prince Caspian tanked, it does not deserve the first weekend of May release date. That's Iron Man's release date. Disney could try and salvage Narnia by putting it back in the holiday season where it should be away from all the super heroes and summer blockbusters. Narnia is NOT a summer movie franchise. But Disney already ruined it.

According to ComingSoon.net, Pirates 4 right now is situated on May 20th. That could change, but that pretty much puts it away from the target release dates for Cap and Avengers.

Going by those target dates, no Pirates is not a threat in the same way Speed Racer, Indiana Jones, and Prince Caspian were not threats to Iron Man or Dark Knight.

Wow you are just not paying attention my friend... Jack Sparrow will be going up against Cap... NOT Tony Stark... POTC 4 is 2011 as of now. My point WAS.... if Marvel muscled Disney out of May 2010 with IM2... Disney MIGHT do the same with Marvel/Captain America in 2011.
