Part IV (Spoiler Thread)

He's slowly getting his powers back. One more episode to prepare for the rematch in Episode 6.

He'll need a visit from Qui-Gon.

The fit and cut looks very similar to the PT era Kenobi to me, accounting for 50 year Ewan not having the exact same build as 20 years ago.

It's actually really confusing for me with his long hair. In long shots, quick action shots or out of focus, he looks way too much like AOTC Kenobi. I keep doing double takes. It's very confusing.

While I get the idea of long shaggy hair makes sense for Ben hiding in the dessert, I don't think it was a wise choice given the character's history and character progression as reflected in his styling and costuming from AOTC through ANH.

I mean this would have been a great opportunity to give him a more OT style belt as he cobbles together makeshift adventuring gear. Or at least add some grey to Ewan's hair to make him look more Alec Guinness-y and less like AOTC Obi-Wan!
They seem intent on invoking RotS for the duel. We'll see how it works out.

Hrmm, Larlarb appears to be the costume designer. Before this, her only costume designer credits are Danny Boyle films from the last 15 years and No Time to Die (which was supposed to be a Boyle film). The sloppy reuse of past designs rather than anything really original makes a lot of sense now. Her work on No Time to Die similarly lacked in imagination or cohesive vision. It was basically just a patchwork of costumes from previous Bond films and Daniel Craig's personal wardrobe choices.

I really, really, really liked his blue shirt on Tatooine. I feel like if they just kept that with a robe and a new belt, it would have been perfect.

Agreed. Once she told him about the tracker he should have said "Well done, Third Sister. You die having impressed me." (SNAP)

Missed opportunity.
Why would he do that? I anticipate her death, but what incentive is that to the others to do smart things?

An argument could be made that Ben's weakness with the Force when trying to practice and then ability to bring it back now when in need is consistent with previous depictions. Like failed with the training remote because he was thinking and trying too hard. A Jedi needs to relax, trust their feelings, be on the moment, and let the Force wash through them. Arguably, Ben is more able to do that when he is under pressure. The old training comes back like muscle memory or what have you.

They literally allude to this when he's on the ship headed for the water moon. He's struggling to pull something small towards him using The Force. 30 minutes later he's containing the massive water coming in through the shattered glass from flooding the hallway.

His powers are slowly coming back.

One's emotional state effects their use of the Force. But, we've literally seen someone who turned themselves off from the Force turn it back on, and he was capable of ripping brick houses down and force projecting himself across space right out of the gate.

Again, that's not how the Force works. Kenobi's emotional, mental, and physical state is what is effecting his abilities. He has PTSD bad. It's not an issue of "getting his powers back". There are no "powers". It's a connection to the Force. When a Force user is emotionally centered, their connection is strongest. It's why conflict renders a Force user weaker. It's why the Jedi teach to abandon all earthly connections to not interfere with one's connection to the Force. Why Yoda taught Luke of the power of belief and concentration.

Obi-Wan was determined to save Leia. He had a goal that was helping emotionally center him. Which is why he was capable of more then before.

I hate that Disney is continuing to release episodes this short. Just make a 3 hour film split in two or three parts, ya bastards.

I genuinely have no idea why they didn't make this into a 2h 30m film.
Would've given them the budget to make this right, and would've actually helped the narrative, imo, as right now the show feels like a bunch of moments and stretched out interludes.
Because people didn't go see Solo and the Mando was a success. So they switched all their movie plans (Obi-Wan and Boba) to Disney+.

Was Vader already at the base or nearby at his castle?

Yeah, that's what I meant... But didn't articulate it as clearly.

Vader hanging the bodies of his former friends and allies like art in a gallery is a special sort of repulsive. Just another example of how awful it is that Vader can do one single good deed, and just gets a free pass to Force Ghost heaven.

He deserved to spend the rest of his life atoning and then he should have went to some purgatory for a loooong purification process.

Urghhhh; "We need your help!"

"can't do it! not going to help you."

"you don't know what they Empire is capable of!"

"the Empire killed my wife, I know what they're capable of. You want my help, you got it."

No matter which way you spin it, that is God awful writing.

Unless I'm mistaken, tonight's episode featured that last of the footage shown in the trailers. Moving forward, we should only be getting new footage.

Does Vader run Fortress Inquisitorius? I know he shows up there a lot, but I would think the Inquisitors, as Jedi hunters, would be big on doing that.

The show is full of it. But the banter has been rather fun, and I do feel like they've hit the "big moments" with Vader and Kenobi.

Oh, i understand it from a business point of view.
My lack of understanding stems from the creative, where there is absolutely no reason for what's going on.

I mean, that's a Disney+ series. . It's the same for Star Wars and Marvel the majority of the time. They are extended films, cut up into parts, and the general masses really seem to like them. I wish they were written better. To utilize the medium, but that's an issue with writing I don't think this would naturally be better from a creative standpoint as a film, outside of sfx. What interest me first and foremost is the characters and stories.

Its been my understanding that Vader is in charge of the Inquisition, and the Grand Inquisitor is his second and the person thats stationed at the fortress and dealing with the daily issues of the Inquisition.

But its a definite possibility that the gallery didn't originate with Vader. It could even be something scientists came up with so they could preserve the bodies for study without risking the damage carbonite can cause.

Man, when those 2 storm troopers were putting Leia in the torture harness I just wanted Obi to walk in and say, "Really, guys? She's 10 years old. Go home and rethink your life choices."
