Paul Dano is Edward Nashton aka "The Riddler"

Could they pull a Kevin Spacey and hide Dano in plain sight?

You mean like Usual Suspects? If so, I feel like a twist like that loses a lot if we already know Dano is our Riddler.

Um, no...no, I don't mean like The Usual Suspects.

I mean like Se7en, like that photo I just posted. Kevin Spacey shows up on screen early in the movie, in disguise, and has a hostile interaction with Brad Pitt's character.

Maybe they could hide Dano on screen without the audiences knowing it?

What if the twist is that the Riddler is the Joker in disguise who is testing Batman?

Ahhh...

So I guess this is the part where I admit that I never made it all the way through Seven. :o

Do you know about the ending?

Oh, I knew about that long before I even started in on the movie. Probably why I haven’t rushed to complete it for fear of being spoiled. I was spoiled to start with.

Oh damn, that would royally suck. This came out before I had any real source for being spoiled on films and I know there’s no way I’d get to a film like this now without stumbling on the ending before seeing it. Quite a shocker for me back then.

The "riddler" in the trailer is actually Firefly. That's why he covers his face like that. Is burned. I don't think riddler is doing any dirty job

It’s time for Riddler to shine as a worthy adversary. I’m perfectly fine with a Joker break, just let him just hum to himself in Arkham for a bit while we get some fresh takes on other villains.

I love Se7en and I love Batman this is win,win for me :hehe::D. I think FireFly and the rest are just cameos for now setting up a bigger Bat-Verse like the Arkham games and BTAS! I can't to see what Reeves have up his sleeves :yay::batty:

Indeed, since he is wearing glasses lets not make any hasty devisions and keep in mind that he can also be Mr. Freeze, Hugo Strange, Scarecrow, Deadshot, Ventriloquist, Pre-Transformation Harley Quinn or Catwoman!

But seriously no, Garfield is as deranged as any other. Even if getting paid with orders, he cannot hold his urges to burn everything to ashes let alone playing mind games.

I recently tried watching that series about the guy who thought his father was the Zodiac. The first episode was intriguing, but then I read online that his father was pretty definitively ruled out as being the Zodiac, and then I figured why bother with watching the rest of the series.

I watched it. Even though his claims were bs, you start to gain interest in how he lost himself in his obsession. There’s also something in there that leads to another possible suspect that no one knew about.

With the Riddler, there is an inherent silliness to the character. He likes riddles. That's his gimmick. My problem over the years is design wise how they try to make him more serious but still retain the sillier aspects like the mask and it always looks awful.

I was afraid of the darker aspect they were taking, not knowing how it was gonna be. But now that I see it, I absolutely love it. Reeves just took it to another place. I think if you're going to make Riddler a more serious threat, just go all the way and don't half measure it like in other versions. The Zodiac killer vibes is really the ideal way to go here. I cringed at the Jigsaw ideas, but Zodiac is the perfect way to do it. The U.S. surplus cold weather mask is a really inspired design for him. It's creepy, but I love how it still uses a more grounded approach where this could conceivably be what a real serial killer would look like. For the fact he looks nothing like comic book Riddler, the fact they were able to make it really creative but still feel true to him is a real commendable thing here.

Honestly, as simple of a touch as it is, just the use of the color green-- in his mask, jacket, the envelope, the design of the card with the riddle, all of those things combined in this trailer help give it just enough of a Riddler-y flavor. And also just the casting of Dano himself. I'm assuming we'll get to see his face at some point in this film, and you just know he'll make a great Ed.

Also, it just occurred to me that the riddle used here and the dark double meaning of it feels like it could've legit been a piece of Joker viral marketing. If the same company ends up getting involved for The Batman as they hinted at...should be amazing.
