Ant-Man Paul Rudd is Ant-Man

Rudd is great and can do drama as well as comedy but from what I have read of Pym/Ant-man, which admittedly isnt much, he doesnt come across as a comedic character.

With Edgar Wright directing this its obvious Pym is going to be made into a comedic character, we will see how it plays out as for me there has been far too much humour in the Marvel movies lately, specifically since Avengers.

At the same time, with Wright directing its guaranteed to be at the very least a good movie. And if Pym is generally a comedic character in the majority of comics they have cast the right guy.

Well in the comics, Stark was also more of a serious and non-comedic character before RDJ was cast. I expect they want Pym to be like Stark in some ways, which fits in with what Wright said about wanting Ant-Man to be similar in tone to the first Iron Man movie.

I want an official statement from Marvel on this casting.

I'm glad it's not an elderly Pym as thought before. But I also hope that he's not just Pym in flashbacks in the 60s. There seems a little ambiguity there in different statements. Wright's statement here seems to suggest his original plan would've been this way:

"The idea that we have for the adaptation is to actually involve both... Henry Pym and Scott Lang," Wright told SuperHeroHype some years ago. "So you actually do a prologue where you see Pym as Ant-Man in action in the 60's, in sort of 'Tales to Astonish' mode basically, and then the contemporary, sort of flash-forward, is Scott Lang's story, and how he comes to acquire the suit, how he crosses paths with Henry Pym, and then, in an interesting sort of Machiavellian way, teams up with him."

But other statements suggest it's just talking about Pym, who was created during the 60s by Marvel, but not necessarily that he is in that time period in the movie.

Well I'm officially looking forward to this film now, with Edgar Wright directing, Joe Cornish co-writing and now Paul Rudd starring it sounds like it could be something great!

I was enthusiastically on board when Edgar Wright was announced.

Now I'm convinced this will be one of the best Marvel movies to date. What a fantastic casting choice!

I hope Rudd keeps his hair black because I don't think blonde suits him and Hank Pym has dark hair originally in his first comic appearance 'The Man In The Ant Hill'.

Simone Pegg is so overrated. :whatever:

Amongst the fanboy crowd, yeah. I dig the dude but I see him being fancast for **** almost as much as Fassbender and I'm like, wha?

That's not necessarily the shade of blonde they'd have to use for Pym, though.

I think the Hank in this first panel looks a lot like Rudd. I could see him with that hair color/hairstyle.

Who was the artist for this story? I like the detail.

Wish it had been Simon Pegg instead.

I absolutely adore Simon Pegg, but I'm okay with him not being cast as Ant-Man. Simon Pegg and Edgar Wright have collaborated/worked together on three films and one television show. I'd rather make the "Cornetto" collabs special by having the two guys branch off into other endeavors.

Pegg doesn't want to play role. Pegg says he wants to enjoy seeing the film as a fan and he can't do that if he is the movie. Pegg also said its good that he, Nick and Edgar branch out and work with other people.

artist is Andre Lima Araujo

I think Rudd looks a lot like Andre Lima Araujo's Hank if Rudd got a hair cut

wooohoooo! the third science bro! finally!

I would love to see Pym, Stark and Banner Science bro club the original comic Avengers brain trust. Shame we won't get no McCoy and Richards but we might get T'Challa one day in the club.

It's an opinion, but it's an obvious one, that's the thing I think.

Thinking about it now, it'll admittedly be weird seeing Paul Rudd do... science, but I'm hyped to see if they have those 3 working together in a lab in A3.
