Perma-acid Joker being that his face turns white, his hair green, and lips scarred/red from some chemical compound accident of sorts.

I think they should go for permawhite next time around, but I won't care that much even if they don't because we've already seen that the character can be amazing even without it.

Yeah, they've already gone the white makeup, hair-dye and scars look, that was Nolan's thing and really doesn't need repeated. We need a perma-white Joker, the way he was meant to be by his creators.

I honestly think in the solo Batman film we will get origin flashback of the Red Hood meeting between them so perma-white for me...

yeah! i also really want to see a flashback to the classic origin at Ace chemicals. It's so iconic.

I'm too big of Nolan's Joker to vote anything else but the makeup.

I understand, but, like I said, it's been done, so to speak, and it's not the iconic look for Joker, and it really doesn't need repeated. Otherwise, Nolan's Joker loses it's uniqueness and originality.
We need the Joker as represented in the books.
Any director/producer that goes the makeup route will be accused of copying Nolan, and rightly so.

I say perma-white. Even forgetting Nolan's version, it just makes him more frightening if he's physically locked into his Joker persona, like he's almost not even human anymore. It makes him seem more like a force of nature than a human who can be reasoned with or fought.

I prefer my Joker being stuck as a clown, instead of a regular guy who chooses to be a clown.

I'd prefer to see a "Killing Joke"-origin story. Struggling comedian is forced to turn to crime but we never get his name, he dons the Red Hood, Batman thwarts their robbery, and in the process, said comedian does a swan-dive into a vat of chemicals-- permanently pigmenting his skin, deforming him, and altering the color of his hair in the process.

These new Batman films should not be afraid of having a mixture of fantasy and realism. The grittiness o "THE TOWN" or "HEAT" but the fantastical element of the comics as a good blend.

All of you who voted for more makeup suck.

It's nice to find a thread in which I agree with everything said by Rorschach.

Perma acid Joker for me who maybe touches up with makeup?!

I've long said that in the next solo Batman film I'd have the Joker be the main villain. Showing the moment where he falls into the vat of chemicals either in a prologue or flashbacks. With the main story been set years after where the two know each other well (something we haven't seen in live action). As a secondary villain it would be cool to have someone like Edward Nygma who you are setting up for the future as someone who works for the FBI but is shady. Or maybe someone like the ventrilquist.

Missed opportunity to name the thread "To bleach or not to bleach part 2".

Or "should the Joker take an (hydrochloric) acid trip?"

Hi everyone. :)

I also say let's go back to the classic Joker: perma-white.

id love to see him done with bleached white skin, green hair. but the thing that's always bugged me about the joker is his lip colour. lips are just part of the skin so why would they be red? if anything they'd be a lighter pink colour from being bleached. also do away with the perma-smile. no scars, no smile that extends out past the lips. there's no reason for that.

You could look at it as a tribute to Gwynplaine, the character who partially inspired the Joker. He had a permanent smile. There's no particular reason for the permanent smile other than it looks cool/creepy. But what reason is there for any change? Why take Superman out of his trunks? Why give Lex Luthor a tattoo of Metropolis on his arms?

Permawhite, but nothing about his origins concretely confirmed.

Permanently white, for various reasons.

1) I personally prefer that overall aesthetic.
2) It's faithful to the character's roots.
3) It distances itself from the previous Joker.

Permanent green hair and white skin, but he does the lips himself.

They would be foolish to do Ledger's makeup only look. This needs to be a different thing.
