The audience won't care as long as you deliver a damn entertaining film. Most will just be glad Kirsten is not on screen this time around. And much like Tim Burton making The Joker the killer of Bruce's parents, we'll just have to tell them, the first film got it WRONG.

Since we HAD to reboot, and from what I read it HAS to separate itself from the "crappy raimi movies" ....then gwen; I guess.

End up with, MJ. Gwen is to teach him that even when exercising his great responsibility with his great powers... he cannot save all, and that sometimes the cost of exercising great responsibility is paid (ultimately) by those he loves the most (and those close to them).

Why?

Why do fanboys dedicate so much of their time worrying about what the GA thinks about certain aspects of their geeky films? Spider-Man has been around for almost 50 years, i don't seem to recall the GA boycotting the movies or looking perplexed when spidey had orgs as opposed to the famous mechs he uses.

Even the beloved spectacular spider-man show features Gwen moreso than MJ, kids werent running around forcing their parents to tweet, wtf is going on in the show.

Its spider-man for goodness sake, the studio could have easily created an original female lead character and the GA would have flocked to still see this movie in droves.

Besides all that, many of you seem to forget that this movie isn't just going to go dark and then suddenly appear in cinemas in 2012. There's this little process called promotion, where that's right you guessed it, the movie will be PROMOTED! so all these silly little fears that some of you people have about the GA being confused about the cast and the characters will be handled accordingly.

You mean falling for Gwen, then she dies? Then he loves M.J cause she helps him work through his grief? Cause that is the classic approach if you say" Classic = Pete + MJ
