Sequels Future of MJ and Gwen

Too bad. Peter Parker and his relationships are the heart of the movies. Take that away, and there's nothing to separate Spider-Man from other superhero franchises (or other action movies, period).

I just think they need to tone it down, not completly remove it. I think just from word of mouth from people I know that make up the GA, they also got sick of the lame ass crying and relationship stuff. It was just too much in the third film. The first two were fine but in 3 they went overboard, not to mention having MJ in distress for all 3 movies is bad writing. I can't wait to see what this new writer they have on board can come up with.

Oh yeah, as for what seperates them from other superhero or action movies. He's a teen who has trouble paying bills, going to school, etc. etc. He's not some cliche big hardcore beat the **** out of everyone type of hero. I think he has enough without the forced relationship woes to be different than the rest.

They're not going to tone a damn thing down, not toning it down has brought them a 2.4 Billion dollar franchise. You're going to see more relationship woes, and maybe even some more crying. I love the way some say they're sick of it, yet the one with more of it, made the most money, hilarious. With 890M, the so-called word of mouth just don't seem to be working. As long as they ignore fanboys, everything's gonna be alright.

I love the fact that the one that made the most money was also the one that had the weakest script of the 3. It made so much money because they advertised the hell out of it over and over and over hyping it up for everyone.

Sorry, as for word of mouth, most of the people I've talked to about the film said they didn't care for it as much because of some of those same reasons. A lot were saying they thought it was the weakest of the 3 and didn't enjoy it as much, some because of crying others said it was too depressing/emotional. Those numbers were big, not from repeat viewings but hype. More people saw it in the theatres than the first two as opposed to waiting for it on DVD.

They advertised the hell out of Superman Returns too, and look at the difference. Sorry, but when you're talking about a third movie to a franchise, you can't really use the HYPE as an excuse. If anything, it was the geeks hyping the living hell out of it, because of Venom.

Are you nuts, again, where were the big numbers for Superman Returns, WB spent 50-70M on advertising (Supes was everywhere)? Hype alone cannot boost a comic book film to 890M, seriously, if that's not repeat viewing I don't know what is. Can you point me to another comic book movie franchise (especially the third film) with as many repeat viewing, I doubt it?

Damn, so you don't like it, so what, move on. I've been told a billion times that SM1 sucked or SM2 was overrated and over praised, get over it already.

We need a new MJ beside Kirsten Dunst then for Spidey 4.
kirsten plays an awesome MJ in my opinon, whch is one of the reasons I think she should stay. I want to see their relationship progress and eventually get married and then see them continue a life togeather.

And worshiped by the Kirsten-lovers.

And I am worshiping you, Spider-ManHero12.

I dont want this thing as MJ anymore :down:ninja:

I miss Kirsten as MJ from the FIRST movie...she was juuuuussssst right IMO.
I agree with you on that, I thought Dunst was pretty good as MJ in the first movie. Second she was eh ok, third was MEH.

Plus her hair was actually ruby red in the first.

I liked her in the films.

True, she's not straight out of comic book panels but it felt right. Kirsten is a good actor, no matter what anyone says. She might not be the hottest (not ugly, but not drop-dead gorgeous), but she has some acting chops.

And plus, her and Tobey has this chemistry that people haven't seen on screen in a while.

She needs to get a lil more meat ( like the first movie) and fix those teeth and I'll be a lot happier...

lol. Her teeth don't really look that bad.

The first one if from the latest Oscars. Not sure about the second one.

But, honestly, can you're teeth really worsen that much?

She would be great as a vampire...no prosthetics:ninja:

Does anyone else feel MJ has had way more than her fair share of screen time? I think it's time for these films to be more like the comics....................with MJ in the background and only being in a limited number of scenes.

She was a big part of Parker's life in the comics but the damn comics weren't 50% about her............ever!

It's not even because i'm sick of Dunst, I just have had enough with the movies focusing too much on the relationship.

I totally agree. I don't know what Raimi's plans are, but if we are getting a new director along with a new writer...I say it's time to bring Spiderman back down a notch. The last film got way too epic, and I think we're all tired of seeing MJ in trouble.
If it were me, I'd have the lizard run loose through New York's sewers. Spiderman would have to go in after him and voila...there's your movie. A simple, tightly packed, dark action story. Put MJ in there a little bit, but she doesn't need to be the focus. It's clear at this point that there are going to be LOTS of Spiderman flics. Give the man's love life a break for once.

To answer both of those statements. Superman has been old news for a long time. When they were doing all the advertising for the new movie I didn't hear people talking about it all, not at work or home or even any cheers or excited talking in the theatre after the trailer. Spider-Man is still new and somewhat fresh for movie goers....nuff said.

Also, I did enjoy Spider-Man 3 for the most part. Just because I didn't care too much for the lazy writing and certain scenes doesn't mean I hate the whole movie. In my original post I wasn't trying to attack you or your orgasmic love for Spider-Man 3, calm down lol.

Yeah, I really like that idea but with Kraven in it as well to spice it up a little. Don't think Lizard could hold the movie on his own. Just two villains though, none of this 3 or more crap.
